Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1577: New Conflict

Chapter 1577: Chapter 1577: New Conflict

The night falls, the city lights are radiant, and some begin their nightlife. People are enjoying barbecue by the roadside, shopping, and partying in nightclubs.

Gu Fan and Su Hui walk down the street, seemingly a loving couple with laughs and chatter, but in fact, they are covertly observing the surroundings.

Someone is following them from behind, a person across the street is keeping pace with them, and even more are hidden in the dark.

However, Gu Fan and Su Hui pretend to be unaware and continue shopping, acting as if nothing is amiss.

The street is bustling with people coming and going, a relentless stream of traffic. The trackers lose sight of Gu Fan and Su Hui in a moment of inattention, immediately become anxious, and hurry to search for them.

"What’s happening? Where are they?" The followers search while contacting others, wanting to know if anyone else has spotted them.

"What’s going on? Their figures vanished behind the crowd for just a moment." After searching for quite some time without a trace of Gu Fan and Su Hui, they sigh in resignation and decide to give up.

Shortly after, those people gather together and then leave in a minivan, returning to a dilapidated dwelling, their temporary residence.

But as soon as they get out of the car and before entering the factory, they hear a strange voice from behind: "Are you looking for me?"

Upon hearing this, everyone turns around in astonishment to find Gu Fan and Su Hui standing right behind them, causing immense tension.

Gu Fan speaks again: "I don’t know which faction you belong to, but I’d like to ask you for a favor – take me to see your boss. I want to have a good talk with your boss."

Every one of them is on edge, some even secretly reaching for weapons.

Gu Fan offers a friendly warning: "If I were you, I wouldn’t think of using force. It really wouldn’t be good for you, unless no one told you anything about me before you took on this task."

"This..." They look at each other, hesitating, unsure how to handle the situation.

Su Hui interjects: "You must have a team leader or something."

A person of team leader status steps forward and says somberly: "We know what kind of person you, Gu Fan, are. We know we’re not your match, but that doesn’t mean we fear death."

Gu Fan frowns, sensing strong resistance from the other side, yet he smiles and tries to keep the peace: "Sorry, I didn’t mean to belittle you. I simply wish to avoid a conflict."

A team member suddenly speaks out indignantly: "By sheltering those vampires, you’ve already declared war on us. Since you’ve chosen to side with the vampires, you are our enemy."

"I haven’t chosen to side with the vampires. I’m merely managing them to prevent them from harming others," Gu Fan argues with righteousness, only to be met with scorn: "Nicely said, but by allowing these vampires into the city, what are your intentions?"

Gu Fan explains: "Not giving vampires space to move freely, shall we simply confine them in one place? How could they not have feelings? If you were confined in one place and treated like criminals, wouldn’t you suffer?"

Hearing this, it seems to make some sense, but the team leader refuses to agree: "By letting these vampires into the city, do you realize how many people have fallen victim to vampires recently?"

To this, Gu Fan’s expression darkens: "I am aware of the unfortunate incidents. Those vampires causing mischief have been dealt with by me, paying their dues. Most vampires are following my instructions and are exercising restraint in their actions."

"Nonsense! You think you can exonerate vampires that way? By attracting vampires to this city, causing so many to be harmed by them, it’s all your fault," the people reply emotionally, all with accusing expressions.

Gu Fan sighs: "Do you even know the situation with the vampires under Organization X’s control? What about those under my management? If you had made the comparison, you would see the difference."

Su Hui adds: "Previously, one hundred percent of Organization X’s vampires would harm people every now and then. Under Gu Fan’s management, less than one-tenth of two hundred vampires act out due to the unbearable thirst for blood."

This clear numerical comparison seems to suggest that Gu Fan is doing a fine job.

Unfortunately, those people are still not convinced, with someone even retorting loudly: "If you, Gu Fan, had helped us fight against vampires, then no one in this world would have fallen prey to them."

Gu Fan shows displeasure at once: "How many times do I have to tell you, if it were possible to completely eradicate vampires, I would have already done so. Haven’t you considered how many new vampires one can create in a single night?"

Su Hui adopts a pleading tone: "I hope you focus on the key issues, on those vampires not under Gu Fan’s command. Since the collapse of Organization X, these vampires have dispersed throughout the world, and they are the greatest danger."

"We will naturally deal with those vampires. Right now, the most pressing issue is you, Gu Fan." Finishing the sentence, the team leader raises a firearm at Gu Fan, and the others follow suit, each aiming a gun at Gu Fan.

Seeing that the opposition is numerous and armed, Gu Fan scratches his head, looking somewhat listless: "Well, this is putting me in a difficult position. I simply want to meet the big shot behind you all, that simple. Or at least, help convey my sincere desire for negotiations."

The team leader answers bluntly: "The big shot has made it clear, vampires must be eliminated. This world cannot afford a second Organization X."

"I understand! Those big shots are so bent on exterminating all vampires, not out of a sense of justice, but because they fear a threat to their positions similar to Organization X," Gu Fan remarks, scratching his head with a troubled air.

Su Hui silently sighs. If that’s the case, then there’s no room for discussion.

"Alright, I won’t trouble you any longer." Gu Fan turns around and waves his hand, looking ready to leave.

Watching Gu Fan walk away, the followers finally relax their tense nerves and then realize they’re covered in cold sweat. The intangible coercive force emitted by Gu Fan was truly terrifying.

Without exception, those people are relieved that they were not so foolish as to shoot at Gu Fan.
