Chapter 1575: Chapter 1575: Some Things Must Be Done
"What do you mean by saying that what comes next is out of your control? Brother, tell me, what exactly happened to you?" Jie was very agitated, nearly screaming at Hai on the spot.
Hai just shook his head with a pained expression on his face; it seemed that he had encountered something very troublesome that he couldn’t speak of.
But Jie still pressed him: "There must be a way. Let’s go find Gu Fan. I believe Gu Fan can help us. Brother, even if you don’t believe in me, you should believe in Gu Fan’s abilities."
"What I need, Gu Fan can’t give me, so..." Hai looked troubled and deliberately avoided eye contact.
Jie strongly objected: "Brother, don’t do anything rash; you’re no match for Gu Fan, you’ll die at his hands."
"Even if what you’re saying is true, I still have to go." Hai was determined to leave, but as soon as he took a step, Jie grabbed his arm.
Knowing full well what was about to happen, knowing the danger, how could Jie just watch Hai go to his death? If he couldn’t persuade him, he would forcibly keep Hai there.
"No choice left!" Hai sighed with a hint of melancholy.
Suddenly, Hai turned around and his fist came flying at the same time.
This scene happened so abruptly that Jie hadn’t even had time to react before he was hit by the punch, the overwhelming force blacking out his vision as he lost consciousness.

A long while later, Jie woke up, feeling groggy, and immediately started searching for Hai, recalling the events before he passed out.
However, this was no longer the old ball court, but his own home, and he was there alone.
"Brother!" Jie searched the whole house for Hai but couldn’t find even a shadow of him.
Jie was anxious and quickly dialed Hai’s cell phone, only to find it turned off.
A bad feeling welled up inside him, Jie’s heart sinking bit by bit. He wondered if what Gu Xiaojin had said was true, that what was about to happen couldn’t be changed.
Just as Jie was about to rush out to look for Hai, he noticed a note on the table; recognizing the handwriting, he knew it was left by Hai.
"Jie, I’m sorry to say goodbye to you in this way. I don’t want to be enemies with Gu Fan either, but I have my reasons that I must go. If, as you said, I end up dying at Gu Fan’s hands, then so be it. Please don’t hold it against Gu Fan."
At that moment, an irreparable sense of panic rose within Jie. He was frantic, not knowing what to do next or where to search for Hai.
"What do I do, what do I do?" Jie was so anxious he was pacing in circles, even feeling an illusion like the world was tilting.
Now, his only hope was Gu Fan. As long as Gu Fan stayed quietly at home, doing nothing, then nothing would happen.
With this thought, hope flared in Jie and he immediately rushed out, heading straight for Gu Fan’s house.
All the way there, Jie was figuring out in his head how to inform Gu Fan and how to convince him.
Jie believed in the friendship and bond forged through life and death with Gu Fan over so many years; Gu Fan would definitely agree.
However, Jie was still a step too late. Gu Fan and Su Hui had already left the house, and only Gu Ling, Gu Xiaojin, and the childhood Xiaojin were present.
At first, Jie thought Gu Fan and Su Hui had just gone out on a date, such as dining or watching a movie, and would return soon. But after waiting for a long time without seeing the couple return, a bad premonition began to surface.
Gu Xiaojin asked Jie to go back first. She did not say it explicitly, but her conveyed message was clear – Gu Fan and Su Hui would not be returning anytime soon because they had important things to do.
Anxious, Jie quickly pressed: "Xiaojin, tell me, where did Gu Fan and Su Hui go?"
"You might as well ask where Hai has gone now," Gu Xiaojin sighed, then shook her head, "Uncle Jie, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you, but I was this young when the events you’re inquiring about happened." After saying this, she also reached out and touched the childhood Xiaojin beside her.
"What do you mean?" Jie did not quite understand.
Gu Xiaojin added, "Before I set off to come to this era, it was the future you who told me the rough details about this matter. The future you said that if something has already happened, don’t deliberately try to change it, and you suggested I didn’t change the past either, because no one knows how big and serious the impact on the future would be."
Now frantic, Jie retorted: "I don’t care what the future me thought or what he told you; all I know is that I want to stop all this now, so please, tell me where they have gone?"
"Alright, I’ll tell you, but please prepare yourself mentally." Gu Xiaojin’s expression turned very solemn, which added to the heavy atmosphere.
Jie was nervous, fearing the worst. If even his future self advised against forcing a change to this matter, it meant the situation was dire.
Gu Xiaojin sighed, "The reason I stayed behind is because I knew for sure that Uncle Jie, you would come back, so I have been waiting especially for you."
"Are you saying that you will take me to find Gu Fan, to find my brother?" Jie felt a surge of excitement, as if he had seen a glimpse of hope.
However, Gu Xiaojin’s expression was not optimistic: "Because, Uncle Jie, you are about to witness a very cruel scene, which is..."
"Don’t say it," Jie shouted, then turned around. His body trembled with excitement and unease, and his breathing became rapid.
Seeing Jie unable to bear it, Gu Xiaojin consoled, "Even if I don’t take you, you will find them. You can’t escape from this. Although my father repeatedly instructed not to involve you, I know that what is supposed to happen will still happen."
Suddenly, Jie had a thought and blurted out, "Does it mean that if I don’t go, if I’m not present, if I don’t witness it myself, then what follows won’t happen?"
Gu Xiaojin shook her head, "I thought the same last time, tried desperately to prevent it, but found out it was all in vain in the end."
Jie was determined, "I can’t stop my brother, I can’t stop Gu Fan, but I can stop myself. I refuse to believe it – my legs are on my body, if I don’t go, is someone going to carry me there?"
"Let’s hope so!" Just as Gu Xiaojin finished speaking, she saw Jie showing a look of agony, clutching the area over his heart tightly, trembling all over.
"What’s going on?" Gu Ling, who saw that Jie was not well, hurried over to cast a spell but found that even magic couldn’t ease Jie’s pain.
According to Gu Xiaojin, this was a side effect left in Jie’s body after Organization X conducted experiments, and only Organization X could concoct the corresponding medicine to alleviate such pain and sustain Jie’s life.
