Chapter 1492 Collective Arrest

Chapter 1492: Chapter 1492 Collective Arrest

The enemy outnumbered us, and the disparity in strength was too great; we couldn’t win the fight.

Although Xue Yin had turned into a black battle form, looking quite terrifying, facing the relentless attacks of over twenty vampire warriors, she too was knocked down and pinned to the ground.

Hai tried to break through, but was pushed back by the enemy’s human wall and ultimately subdued by the vampire warriors.

Qian Xue’s supernatural power was strong, but the vampire warriors were quick to act; a sneak attack from behind knocked Qian Xue unconscious.

Ouyang Jin thought of drinking the blue reagent, but as his hand shook, it fell from his grasp and spilled on the ground, causing immense distress to Ouyang Jin.

Seeing the vampires charging fiercely, Lu Yi was so frightened that she immediately hugged Ouyang Jin tightly and pleaded, "Big brother, big sister, as you can see, we are just ordinary people. Please treat us in a way fit for ordinary people, avoid harshness, and please be as gentle as possible."

Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Gu Ling kept resisting, but seeing others getting captured one after another, they knew escape was hopeless and had to stop.

The outcome was never in doubt, but the attack had given Organization X a real scare.

Xue Wang was very annoyed, but couldn’t help admiring: "Well played, Gu Fan. No one has ever caused such chaos in my Dark City before. You’re not only the first but have also caused us significant losses."

Gu Fan gave a wry smile and shook his head: "There’s a first time for everything."

Xue Wang’s face darkened: "True, there’s a first time for everything, but I swear there won’t be a second."

"In theory, there shouldn’t be a second time," Gu Fan looked around, surrounded by members of Organization X.

Xue Wang coldly stated, "I’m going to kill all of you now, what can you do about it?"

"That... wouldn’t be very nice," Gu Fan and Su Hui could feel Xue Wang’s murderous intent along with his anger.

Xue Wang snorted coldly, "Someone, kill them all, leave none alive."

"Wait a minute." Gu Fan shouted urgently, and Lord Xiong gestured with his hand to stop his subordinates.

Xue Wang was unimpressed: "What now, you have any last words? Hurry up and speak."

Gu Fan nodded, "At this point, I have only one wish, to be killed by Mo Yun’s hands."

Hearing this, Mo Yun was startled internally, but her expression remained indifferent, showing no concern.

Su Hui shook her head, disdainfully: "Even now you’re still thinking about her, you’re kind-hearted, but she doesn’t appreciate it."

"This grudge was caused by me, and it’s my responsibility to resolve it," as Gu Fan spoke, he walked towards Mo Yun, eyes fixed on her indifferent face.

Yet, Mo Yun turned her gaze away, avoiding eye contact with Gu Fan, clearly evading intentionally, whether out of guilt or disdain.

Gu Fan then handed the dagger to Mo Yun and said lightly, "Master, since you hate me so much and want me dead, then as you wish. I leave my life in your hands to end this grudge."

Mo Yun didn’t respond, not even sparing Gu Fan a glance.

The situation became awkward; Mo Yun, who had been fiercely calling for battle, now had the chance to kill Gu Fan but did nothing. Some were puzzled about what Mo Yun was really thinking.

Gu Ling was confused: "One moment you want to kill, the next you don’t, what exactly do you want from my brother? Being a man is truly difficult."

This made Mo Yun feel even more embarrassed, and she secretly gritted her teeth looking at the dagger, still hesitating.

Lord Xiong quickly stepped in to smooth things over: "Gu Fan, Mo Yun won’t kill you now because we still need you alive to create weapons against mutated vampires. As long as you cooperate, I promise that you and your companions won’t be harmed."

"Thank you, Lord Xiong. With your words, I’m reassured," said Gu Fan as he forced a smile, grasping Mo Yun’s hand and forcefully pressing the dagger into it.

Mo Yun frowned, showing a resistant expression, which appeared rather unsightly to those around.

"Thank you, beautiful master, for sparing my life," Gu Fan said, showing gratitude. Now everyone could see, Mo Yun hated Gu Fan to death, but when it came to the final moment, she didn’t want Gu Fan dead, revealing a complex mix of emotions.

Su Hui didn’t say anything; she seemed to begin understanding Mo Yun’s attitude toward Gu Fan—the more she trusted him, the deeper she was hurt, the more she hated.

This atmosphere was unbearable for Xue Wang, who immediately ordered for everyone to be locked up separately in different locations.

"Gu Fan, I’m giving you one last chance, if you try any tricks, I really will kill your companions," Xue Wang warned with lethal intent, and Gu Fan indicated he had learned his lesson and wouldn’t play any tricks anymore.

Organization X began arranging for the hostages; first, Ouyang Jin and Lu Yi were locked up together, followed by Irina and the Hunter’s Guild in another location.

Su Hui, Qian Xue, and Hai, being notably strong, were confined separately and heavily guarded.

Despite the unfavorable circumstances, Gu Ling made a request to be locked up together with Li Shi, to look out for each other.

This reminder made Gu Fan realize Li Shi was not here, causing him to frown and immediately ask, "Wait a minute, Xue Wang, where’s another companion of mine?"

"What do you mean? One of your companions is missing?" Xue Wang did not believe it, as the area had been thoroughly surrounded by Organization X, making it impossible for the formidable ones like Gu Fan and Su Hui to escape, let alone an ordinary person like Li Shi.

Mo Yun immediately inquired at the front gate whether anyone had left recently.

The guard at the gate confidently replied that no one had left through the gate since the battle began; only attackers had come in. Li Shi definitely hadn’t left the Tower of Darkness.

"That’s impossible, where else could that person go?" Gu Fan was anxious, feeling that something was amiss. He glanced at Su Hui.

Su Hui shook her head, "All our people are here; it’s impossible that one of us took Li Shi away."

Xue Wang, Lord Xiong, and Mo Yun also felt there was something fishy. If it were really Gu Fan and his group responsible, and they had enabled Li Shi to escape to a safe place, there would be no reason for them to expose themselves.

It could only mean Li Shi’s disappearance had nothing to do with Gu Fan and his group, but who else could silently have taken Li Shi during the battle, and why Li Shi in particular?

Long ago, Gu Fan had a premonition that an invisible hand was reaching towards the Dark City, and now this feeling surged up again. Gu Fan was worried, fearing that Li Shi was now in a perilous situation.
