Chapter 1487: Chapter 1487: Not a Single One Caught

The big boss first felt the world spinning around him, then a heavy blow shook his entire being into confusion.

Zhuo Hang and Xue Ba would give no quarter, rushing over together, each landing a punch on the big boss’s head.

One-on-one, the big boss was confident in his divine fists, but against two, he stood no chance.

Collapsed on the ground, the big boss endured the frenzied assault, desperately holding on, while pain spread throughout his body, his bones fracturing and healing, only to fracture again.

Zhuo Hang knew they couldn’t kill the big boss, he could only beat him until he couldn’t stand again, then capture him and imprison him in a place without light, sealing him there forever.

But the big boss wouldn’t surrender so easily. With resolute fighting spirit, he kicked backwards, striking Zhuo Hang squarely on the head.

Zhuo Hang only felt his head buzzing, unable to stand steadily, he toppled to one side.

The pressure on the big boss instantly lessened a great deal. He immediately rose from the ground, swinging his fists, channeling all his fury from being hit onto Xue Ba.

One punch shattered Xue Ba’s bones, the second made Xue Ba spit blood, and the third struck his jaw, sending Xue Ba flying into the air.

Zhuo Hang immediately counterattacked, landing two fierce punches on the big boss’s shoulders, fracturing them, and prepared to throw another.

The big boss, enraged, headbutted Zhuo Hang in a move like a comet crashing into the Earth.

The impact was immense; both the big boss and Zhuo Hang saw stars, staggering backward before plopping down on the ground.

At that moment, Xue Ba re-entered the fray, unceremoniously grabbing one of the big boss’s legs, hoisted him up, and started swinging him around, smashing him into the ground over and over.

The ground was pockmarked with several indents from the big boss’s body impacts, and the big boss was in a great deal of discomfort from the collisions.

"Get lost!" The big boss kicked Xue Ba’s head twice in a row, and the third kick hit Xue Ba’s throat, nearly decapitating him with its brutal force.

With no options left, Xue Ba had to let go, inwardly lamenting the big boss’s frightening strength.

After a fierce battle, it was clear there was no chance for the big boss to win two-on-one. Even as he stood recovering from his injuries, so were Zhuo Hang and Xue Ba, which didn’t bode well for the big boss.

Xue Ba spoke up: "Surrender, you can’t beat us."

"Indeed!" The big boss admitted defeat, a slight smile on his lips, imbued with deep meaning.

Just as Zhuo Hang and Xue Ba readied for another arduous fight, the big boss suddenly made his move. He didn’t rush towards Zhuo Hang, nor Xue Ba, not even towards the surrounding vampires; his target was a house.

The big boss crashed straight through the walls of the house, bursting in and then smashing through another wall to get out.

Zhuo Hang and Xue Ba immediately understood: the big boss was trying to escape, so they hurriedly called all their people to pursue.

The big boss’s escape method was simple and crude: a straight line, ignoring all obstacles in his path, just smashing right through.

Houses in Dark City collapsed one after another under the big boss’s impact, causing a commotion big enough to attract the attention of Xue Wang and Lord Xiong, watching from the towering Tower of Darkness.

"He’s running? How is that possible?" Lord Xiong couldn’t believe it; in his impression, the big boss was always dominant, knowing neither fear nor retreat in the face of any enemy.

Xue Wang was dismissive: "No choice; under the mighty force of Organization X, any sane person knows it’s impossible to break through head-on, unless one is a brute ignorant of all but force."

"Right, he’s definitely not just a brute." Lord Xiong frowned, sensing something off about the retreat—it wasn’t the big boss’s style; there were indeed problems.

Soon Xue Wang received more news: Ye Yue’s whereabouts were unknown, as were Lin Xi and Qian Feng’s.

Lie Kong was seriously injured and had been secured, while the whereabouts of the Hunters were still being searched for.

"After all that, not a single catch," Xue Wang nearly couldn’t believe it; even though they were ten times stronger than their opposition, they still let them get away.

Lord Xiong reminded Xue Wang to be careful; as long as they had Gu Fan in their hands, there was no problem.

Xue Wang nodded, agreeing that as long as they kept Gu Fan captive, they need not fear any tricks.

"Impossible, it shouldn’t be like this. There were only four of them; where is Su Hui?" Lord Xiong’s expression darkened, ordering a report of the surroundings, only to find no sign of Su Hui.

Xue Wang also sensed something wasn’t right. Logically, Su Hui wouldn’t stand idly by for something as important as rescuing Gu Fan; known for her formidable capabilities, she would have had the right to partake in the battle.

Besides Su Hui, had Shennv Xuanhui only sent Qian Feng? The Hunters had appeared, but what about the rest of the Hunter’s Guild?

Problems—there must be problems here.

Concerned, Xue Wang instructed the guards at the gate to monitor the personnel movements, only to be told that no one had come or gone recently, meaning no one had snuck in amidst the chaos.

Generally, as long as the gate was secure, no one should be able to easily break in and free Gu Fan, yet why were Xue Wang and Lord Xiong still anxious?

Suddenly, they received an urgent report that someone had rescued Gu Fan.

Hearing this news, the first reaction of Lord Xiong and Xue Wang was that they’d been tricked with a diversion.

Then Xue Wang exploded in rage: "What’s going on? How are you guarding?"

Surveillance footage was pulled up, showing two guards entering the area where Gu Fan was detained, and for some unexplained reason the guards fainted, allowing those two people to rescue Gu Fan, who then strutted out confidently.

Because of the surveillance, Organization X immediately noticed the situation, halted all elevators, and informed Xue Wang and Lord Xiong.

Seeing Xue Wang upset, Lord Xiong tried to reassure him with a sentence: "Gu Fan has only escaped from the detention room, not from the Tower of Darkness; everything is still under our control."

Xue Wang nodded: "Exactly, Gu Fan would have to sprout wings to fly if he thinks he can escape from the fiftieth floor to the ground floor."

Despite their words, both Lord Xiong and Xue Wang understood that when dealing with Gu Fan, one could not rely on normal reasoning, otherwise, they’d suffer a loss.

After reviewing the surveillance, they identified one of the rescuers as a female, a classmate of Gu Fan named Li Shi, and the other, Ouyang Jin, an accomplice of Gu Fan.
