Chapter 1466: Chapter 1466: It’s Good to Be Okay

Gu Fan explained it this way: "The bite of mutant vampires only works on those with evil intentions; naturally, someone with a sense of justice like me is unaffected."

"You’re full of shit!" Mo Yun certainly wouldn’t believe the nonsense Gu Fan spouted.

Gu Fan put on an expression as if to say ’what can I do if you think that way?’, which immediately infuriated Mo Yun. At such a critical time, this man still managed to make her so angry.

The mutant vampires did not give chase but instead went after other people, rushing towards various directions in Dark City.

It was at this moment that Xue Wang and Lord Xiong rushed out of the Tower of Darkness. They had struggled greatly to deal with the mutant vampires inside the Tower of Darkness but had not expected to be unable to stop them from breaking out.

Now, all of Dark City was filled with screams of agony, accompanied by the hissing of mutant vampires. If this continued, it would truly be the end.

"You’re Gu Fan!" Xue Wang saw Gu Fan and was immediately enraged, yelling, "If it weren’t for you, Dark City wouldn’t have ended up like this today."

Gu Fan scratched his head. "Well, if it weren’t for you guys, I wouldn’t have come to Dark City. So, the main culprit cannot be me."

Xue Wang cursed loudly and went straight up to grab Gu Fan’s neck.

At this moment, an exhausted Gu Fan, after continuous fighting, couldn’t muster up his full strength to fight back against Xue Wang. He felt as if his neck was about to be snapped, a sensation both painful and uncomfortable.

"Destiny Stone Body Guard, my ass!" Xue Wang sneered, knowing that with just a bit more strength, he could completely take care of Gu Fan.

Upon seeing this, Mo Yun immediately came forward to persuade him, "Wait, Xue Wang, it seems Gu Fan has a way to deal with the mutant vampires, and he can’t die yet."

"A way? I don’t need one. Without you, Gu Fan, we can still handle mutant vampires," Xue Wang said resolutely, seemingly determined to kill Gu Fan. But in reality, he loosened his grip slightly, allowing Gu Fan to catch his breath.

Mo Yun continued to persuade: "Xue Wang, we must prioritize the big picture. If we don’t quickly resolve the mutant vampires, I fear we may lose Dark City."

"What’s the big deal? If it comes down to that, we’ll just pick another place and build a new Dark City," Xue Wang retorted, and then threw Gu Fan to the ground without going through with killing him.

Mo Yun saw Xue Wang spare Gu Fan and secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to herself that this Gu Fan really was protected by the Destiny Stone.

Lord Xiong, on the other hand, remained silent. He knew that Gu Fan wouldn’t die – the research lab beneath Dark City was simply too important for Organization X, which had put so much effort into Dark City over the years and wouldn’t just give it up.

Xue Wang demanded, "Speak, what way do you have to deal with mutant vampires?"

Gu Fan held his throat, gasping for air, looking very uncomfortable and in need of a moment to recover.

Every second was now a matter of life or death; mutant vampires were attacking everywhere, biting people, and Organization X no longer had the capacity to fight back. So Xue Wang had no patience, lifting Gu Fan up, "Stop playing tricks and talk!"

"Alright, alright, I’ll tell you, just don’t get violent," said Gu Fan, prying Xue Wang’s hand off, putting on a nonchalant demeanor, and pulling out a vial of blue reagent from his pocket.

"What’s this?" Xue Wang recognized it. It seemed to be the potion that suppressed vampires. His rage intensified, "Damn you, Gu Fan, you’ve been hiding blue potion all this time. I really regret ever trusting you."

Gu Fan mocked coldly, "If I had given you all the blue potion from the start, and you had destroyed it all, would we have a way to deal with these mutant vampires?"

"Right, thanks for that!" Xue Wang snatched the blue potion and once again grabbed Gu Fan’s neck, returning the sarcasm, "Thanks for keeping this precious blue potion for us, now you’re useless, you can just..."

Gu Fan remained unfazed, "Do you think this small amount of blue potion is enough?"

Hearing this, Xue Wang paused, then let go of Gu Fan, frowning, he asked another question, "You have more blue potion?"

"Of course, I have as much as you need, depending on whether you, Xue Wang, can tolerate my presence," said Gu Fan, with a completely unconcerned look, rubbing the sore spot on his neck from being grasped.

Xue Wang’s face darkened; if Gu Fan could endlessly create blue potion, it meant he was an absolute threat to Organization X, one they needed to eliminate. But if they killed Gu Fan, how would they handle the mutant vampires?

Gu Fan could see exactly what was on Xue Wang’s mind and scoffed, "Having trouble choosing between killing me as a threat and the safety of Dark City, huh?"

Xue Wang did not answer, but his displeased expression said it all.

Gu Fan pretended to perk up his ears, "Listen, the howling of mutant vampires is getting louder. It won’t be long before the whole Dark City is overrun with mutants. Wonderful, your Organization X will have no place to call home."

"Damn you, Gu Fan, you’re ruthless. I’ll spare your life, but you must provide me with the maximum amount of blue potion in the shortest time," Xue Wang laid down the terms, with an unfriendly and reluctantly lenient countenance.

Gu Fan nodded in agreement and laid out his own terms: "I need to enter the underground Laboratory Number Two and use its equipment to make more blue potion. Please hurry up and take me there."

"What, you want to go to Laboratory Number Two? No way," Xue Wang flatly refused. What a joke – that was Organization X’s biggest secret; how could they possibly allow Gu Fan access?

Gu Fan made a disdainful face: "Look how stingy you are. Isn’t it just the spaceship left behind by Super Civilization? You think I don’t know?"

"What, you already knew." Xue Wang, Lord Xiong, and Mo Yun were all shocked.

Gu Fan remained dismissive, "Is that the point? If we keep delaying like this and the mutant vampires escape to the outside, it really will be out of control. Afterwards, Dark City will always face the threat of mutant vampires."

With the situation being urgent, Xue Wang had no choice but to compromise, "Alright, I agree to your demands."

"That’s more like it. As the leader of Organization X, you must prioritize the big picture," Gu Fan pretended to praise, though he knew that once the mutant vampires were dealt with, he would no longer be of value, and then it would be completely up to Xue Wang what happened to him.

There was another matter weighing heavily on Gu Fan’s mind: Ouyang Jin and Li Shi hadn’t yet escaped Dark City; could they too have encountered an attack by mutant vampires?

For the sake of his companions, Gu Fan also had to help Organization X swiftly resolve this crisis.
