Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1413 Special Cargo

Chapter 1413: Chapter 1413 Special Cargo

A new day dawned, and a ship docked in an alley of a coastal city. This ship was special; it was responsible for delivering various kinds of goods to Organization X from around the world, including ordinary items and "special" cargo. A truck arrived, and two cargo handlers presented the credentials provided by Organization X. As they were new to this shift, it was their first time running this route and making contact with the people on this ship. After exchanging the right coded phrases and confirming their accuracy, nobody questioned anyone’s identity. They opened the ship’s hold to allow the truck inside because the cargo was sensitive and needed to be loaded in a manner that would prevent it from being seen.

Inside the ship’s hold was a container, which the crew opened to reveal individuals who were bound and blindfolded—these were the special cargo destined for Organization X. Vampires and the Xue Clan both required a dose of blood every now and then, and since they couldn’t lay hands on the residents of Dark City, they had to bring people in from outside. Some individuals who specialized in human trafficking caught the eye of Organization X, resulting in a scheduled transaction at a designated time and place. Now, the ship’s crew had the cargo handlers count the number of people to ensure accuracy before escorting the bound individuals onto the truck. The handlers noticed nothing out of order at first; everything from the coded phrases to the head count appeared meticulous. After all, it was their first time managing this operation, and oversights were bound to happen.

At that moment, the ship’s boss came over for small talk and lit a cigarette. The boss casually asked, "You two are new faces, huh? I haven’t seen you before." The handlers nodded: "Something happened to the previous cargo handlers; we’re their replacements." The boss replied with a wry smile, "Death on these routes is common; cargo handlers frequently change—I’m used to it." The handlers responded with a look of resignation, "Indeed, this job carries risks, but we must follow the higher-ups’ orders."

Thus, the boss chatted idly with the cargo handlers, who didn’t notice the crew’s subtle movements as they escorted the people. Once the loading was complete, the handlers thanked the crew and drove off, satisfied with the seemingly smooth operation.

As soon as the handlers left, the boss’s demeanor shifted subtly as he turned and pleaded, "Members of the Hunter’s Guild, I did everything just as you asked. Can you let us go?" Suddenly, several crew members revealed cold smiles before drawing their guns and aiming at the boss and his subordinates. In the eyes of the Hunter’s Guild, Organization X and vampires were unforgivable, and those involved in human trafficking for Organization X, like the ship’s boss, were despicable. Therefore, they showed no mercy and dispatched them immediately. Afterwards, someone would release a statement in cooperation, claiming the police had taken down a human trafficking ring.

The Hunter’s Guild had investigated and found multiple groups engaged in transporting people for Organization X, many of which were dismantled each year. Yet, these actions had no significant impact on Organization X. With the promise of profit, there would always be those willing to take dangerous risks. Organization X even considered trafficking humans themselves, but the need for an extensive network to acquire people worldwide proved too costly both in time and money. Besides, rebuilding every time a branch was taken down was especially problematic, and they couldn’t match the efficiency of smaller, local operators. Eventually, Organization X decided to outsource the human trafficking business to eliminate the hassle and maintain high efficiency. As for the additional cost, it was no issue—Organization X was never short on funds.

Now, having received Gu Fan’s intelligence, the Hunter’s Guild knew that Organization X’s trucks were transporting "special" cargo, likely people. The Guild started gathering information and identified a suspicious trafficking group frequently operating in this port city. With their capabilities, it was no challenge for the Guild to take control of the group. The timing was perfect—the cargo handlers had just been replaced, which meant no one suspected anything unusual about the boss or recognized that some of the crew were actually Guild members in disguise. In the truck were not only the people trafficked into the Tower of Darkness this time but also four unique passengers.

Su Hui, Lin Xi, Irina, and Lu Yi broke free of their restraints, removed their blindfolds, took out flashlights, and lit up the pitch-black cargo space. "Organization X, a bunch of bastards!" Su Hui looked around at the bound, blindfolded, and gagged figures, her heart clenched with discomfort. Irina exhaled a weary breath: "This is why we despise Organization X. Many relatives and friends of the Hunter’s Guild have fallen victim to them. Some were transported just like this to Dark City to become vampire fodder."

Lu Yi expressed concern: "Now is not the time to blame Organization X. We’ve successfully infiltrated, but if Gu Fan doesn’t come through, we’ll end up as vampire food too." "What should we do? Should we save them?" asked Lin Xi, sympathizing with these people who had done nothing wrong—they believed the boss’s lies, thinking they were going to work and provide for their families, not expecting to be sold here.

Su Hui and Irina were aware of the victims’ situations. Hoping to earn money to send back to their parents and children, they had not done anything wrong. Lu Yi looked at a woman beside her, her heart souring. Who was someone’s daughter who might have been snatched off the street, becoming another missing person? It was hard to imagine the worry of her parents, who held out hopeless hope every day for their child’s return.

Su Hui sympathized deeply with them, but she could only sigh in helplessness, "I know we all want to help them. We can try to rescue them now, but Organization X will continue to find more people from other places. We might help here but not there—do you understand what I mean?" Irina nodded, "Understood. We aim to rescue more than just these people. We want Organization X to stop their crimes for good. That’s why we must succeed this time."

"I’m sorry," apologized Lin Xi, who could only use magic to heal the minor wounds of those who had likely resisted and suffered beatings at the hands of the boss. Initially, she had been against the Guild’s decision to eliminate the boss and his men to silence them, but now, she felt that such a fate for them was not too harsh at all.
