Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1392: Nowhere to Escape

Chapter 1392: Chapter 1392: Nowhere to Escape

A dark, damp environment; cluttered, filthy items; and the noise of rats scurrying across the ceiling beams—this was yet another warehouse of Organization X in this small town, another stronghold.

Xue Long struggled to recover from his injuries, but found it tremendously disheartening when he realized that the hunter’s sword had completely stripped him of his powers.

"Damn hunter, I will make you pay," Xue Long fumed. If it wasn’t for his injuries, he really wanted to smash something to vent his frustration.

At that moment, Li, who was responsible for guarding, saw Gu Fan returning and immediately swung open the door, giving Gu Fan an excited embrace, "It’s great, man, you’re alive and back."

"Yeah, it wasn’t easy," Gu Fan replied in an utterly exhausted manner, as if escaping had drained all his strength.

Xue Long snorted coldly, "It’s good you’re back, but you’re just an ordinary person; how did you manage to escape unscathed from the Hunter’s Guild?"

To this, Gu Fan already had his excuse ready, "Because there were many vampires escaping from the warehouse, the Hunter’s Guild chose to prioritize them over someone as weak as me."

Hearing this, Xue Long frowned, seemingly contemplating the credibility of Gu Fan’s statement.

"You two are pretty skillful, huh? In such a fierce battle, you both only had minor injuries," Xue Long’s words held a deeper meaning, and made Li nervous.

Gu Fan secretly despised, "What the hell, I inflicted some wounds on myself and now this suspicion."

Then it was Li’s turn to explain, "We hid in a corner and didn’t encounter any enemy, which was a stroke of luck among misfortunes."

"Is that so?" Xue Long closed his eyes as if resting, but his tense expression told Gu Fan that Xue Long still harbored suspicions.

Now Gu Fan couldn’t figure out whether Xue Long was suspecting him of having some special skills, enabling him to escape from the recent battle unscathed, or suspecting that Gu Fan colluded with the Hunter’s Guild, which was why the guild had let Gu Fan go.

Gu Fan promptly suggested, "We should leave quickly. There are definitely other survivors. If others also come to this rendezvous point and get tracked by the hunters, then this time, we really won’t escape."

Hearing this, Li immediately nodded, feeling the risk of staying here was indeed high.

Xue Long was slightly stunned, seemingly surprised by Gu Fan’s thorough consideration.

Hastily, Gu Fan, Li, and Xue Long left the stronghold. No sooner had they left than two vampires arrived and were indeed tracked by the Hunter’s Guild.

When hunters stormed in and took down the vampires but failed to find Xue Long, this gave them a bad premonition, fearing that locating Xue Long later could be difficult.

Not far from the stronghold, Xue Long, holding binoculars, saw the hunters soaring on their swords into the warehouse and then rushing back out. He felt a bout of fear; if it wasn’t for Gu Fan’s timely suggestion, he might have ended up dead at the hunters’ hands.

Although Xue Long wouldn’t openly admit it, he was beginning to admire Gu Fan, recalling how Catherine had mentioned Gu Fan’s capabilities in handling situations effectively.

This time, Xue Long was much more polite to Gu Fan, "You’re lucky, and your guess was right. Now, tell us, what should we do next?"

Gu Fan thought for a moment, then said, "If I were the Hunter’s Guild, I would search the entire town. As long as we’re still in the town, we’ll definitely be discovered."

Li panicked, "Then let’s quickly leave this town."

Gu Fan shook his head, "I fear the Hunter’s Guild might already be waiting for us outside the town, hoping to deal with us there."

"What do you mean?" Xue Long’s brow furrowed, his expression darkened, "Are you saying we’re trapped either way?"

Gu Fan smiled faintly, "Not necessarily. They’ll search the entire town, but once they search an area, they won’t return to it. From the earlier battle, they don’t appear to have many people."

Xue Long appeared to have an epiphany, "I get it, you want to exploit the moment they are searching and unable to cover other areas to make our move."

"That’s right, this is our only option for now, also known as guerrilla tactics," Gu Fan finished, his expression turning solemn, as if even he was not too certain of this plan.

The difficulty in this plan lay in needing to accurately know when the opponent would be in a particular area of the town, then avoiding that area to move toward those they would not return to soon.

"I’m still worried about one thing," Gu Fan looked up at the sparse surveillance cameras given the town’s remote location and limited budget, which was somewhat reassuring for them, "what the local law enforcement’s stance is, considering such a huge incident and they have yet to make a sound."

To this, Xue Long was confident, "Don’t worry, the towns near the Dark Primitive Mountain, as long as we from Organization X desire, can be flattened overnight. If something happens to me here, this town can’t afford the consequences."

"I see!" Gu Fan began to hypothesize; if he were the person in charge of the town’s security, facing this situation, would he help Xue Long escape or help the hunters kill Xue Long.

Gu Fan started scrolling through the town’s map on his phone, pondering all possible escape routes.

Xue Long, seeing how composed Gu Fan was in his contemplation, couldn’t help but grow anxious, "Please hurry; if it gets to daylight and we can’t find a safe place, I’m going to be roasted toasted."

Gu Fan seemed absorbed in his thoughts, as if he hadn’t heard Xue Long, which slightly upset Xue Long.

"Does the Hunter’s Guild know what consequences there will be if they kill you in this town?" Gu Fan’s question also stunned Li and Xue Long.

After regaining his composure, Li replied, "Definitely not; didn’t you see the hunters had even pursued us to the second stronghold?"

"I’m pondering one thing, why could Xue Long, in his injured state, still manage to escape?" Gu Fan began to have doubts, thinking that it might be a trap, as it should have been easy for the skilled hunters to chase down an injured Xue Long.

Additionally, Gu Fan felt that defeating Lie Huo seemed too easy—was their overpowering momentum deliberately staged, just to exert pressure on Xue Long to quickly leave the town?

Li believed this was all mere speculation, but Xue Long began to consider that it might not be impossible.
