Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1378: An Attack

Chapter 1378: Chapter 1378: An Attack

For three whole days, Gu Fan had not been summoned by Catherine, as if she had lost interest in him.

However, this was a relief for Gu Fan, who felt that staying out of the spotlight was beneficial for his survival.

Yet, what was bound to come eventually came. Catherine’s subordinates came to inform Gu Fan to report immediately for an urgent mission.

"How is there another urgent mission?" Gu Fan frowned, puzzled. Why did Catherine always turn to him when she faced difficult situations, when she had so many subordinates at her disposal? She couldn’t possibly think that all newcomers were cannon fodder.

With a nervous heart, Gu Fan went to Catherine’s nightclub, where he saw Li, and immediately sensed that this operation was not going to be straightforward.

Catherine summoned Gu Fan, Li, and three other subordinates and disclosed the top-secret mission.

To overpower the other nobles, the Western Nobles and the Northern Aristocrats decided to join forces to target Gu Fan and his group, attempting to achieve what even the Xue Wang had accomplished.

Li was somewhat worried and raised a question, "But didn’t the Xue Wang explicitly forbid us from troubling Gu Fan and his group?"

"That’s because the Xue Wang is afraid he couldn’t defeat Gu Fan and would instead infuriate him. Now that we are joining forces with the Northern Aristocrats, with elite troops at our disposal, I don’t believe we can’t eliminate them," Catherine confidently responded, adding, "As long as we can take down Gu Fan and his group, the Xue Wang won’t say anything."

Gu Fan nodded in agreement, "Yes, as long as the goal is achieved, I believe not only will we not be blamed, but we will also be heavily rewarded."

Hearing this, Catherine looked at Gu Fan with interest, "You’re absolutely right. Our decision to act decisively this time is also thanks to your ability to obtain photos of Gu Fan and his group."

"It’s what we should do." Gu Fan expressed his loyalty, his heart tensing secretly. No wonder the Xue Wang didn’t want the Four Great Nobles to know what he, Lin Xi, and Su Hui looked like; he was worried they would act recklessly, clearly showing the Xue Wang lacks strong control over the Four Great Nobles.

If the operation fails, what could the Xue Wang do? Certainly not question both great nobles.

Gu Fan was now considering two issues: first, how many people the two great nobles mobilized to ambush Lin Xi, Su Hui, and their group; second, after this operation, he suspected that Organization X would no longer need to hide their identities from the Four Great Nobles. Could his identity remain a secret?

"Find a way, we must notify everyone as soon as possible," Gu Fan fretted, thinking that if he just had a few more days to get a letter to the Glasses Man that he could pass on to Su Hui and Lin Xi, it would be sufficient.

At this moment, Li asked, "When do we set off?"

Catherine replied, "We leave now, to avoid complications."

Li further inquired, "Trusting that the two great nobles combined, must have deployed many people. How do we leave Dark City without attracting the attention of Organization X’s higher-ups?"

Gu Fan secretly rejoiced, thinking, "Yes, such a large-scale troop movement can’t possibly go unnoticed."

Catherine explained, "This time, the people we are sending are not departing from Dark City, but directly from normal outposts to a small town."

Hearing this, Gu Fan’s heart skipped a beat, sensing that a significant battle was inevitable.

Gu Fan then asked, "Since we have taken photos of Gu Fan and the others, we could just distribute the photos, so everyone knows who the targets are. Why do we have to go?"

"It’s precisely because you provided the photos and are familiar with the situation there that we are sending you," Catherine answered, then waved her hand, indicating that this was an order and not to be questioned.

Left with no other choice, Gu Fan and Li had to comply.

Li grumbled slightly, "We just came back from there a few days ago, and now we have to go again."

"There’s no choice, it’s an order from above, we just follow," Gu Fan shrugged, appearing indifferent, but inside he was more anxious than anyone.

Thus, Gu Fan and Li drove off again, familiar with the route as they obtained their pass, then drove out of Dark City.

According to Catherine’s instructions, everyone had to gather, then strike Lin Xi and Su Hui’s town in one fell swoop; the gathering point was another small town.

To prevent detection by Organization X, the place where all the people assembled by the Western Nobles and the Northern Aristocrats was slightly distant from the town where Lin Xi and Su Hui were, so Organization X would not suspect that these two nobles intended to act against them.

When Gu Fan and Li arrived at the destination, a warehouse for gathering, they were stunned by the sight before them: all the troops from the two great nobles lay on the ground, corpses strewn everywhere, blood soaking the soil.

Vampires were pierced by wooden stakes, nailed to the walls, their eyes filled with terror, as if they had encountered something dreadful.

Li could hardly believe his eyes, "What happened, what did they encounter? These were the elite troops of the two great nobles!"

Gu Fan furrowed his brow, inspecting the place carefully. He discovered sword marks on the walls and many other areas chopped by sharp weapons, it felt like the elites of the two great nobles had encountered a master of weaponry.

"What should we do, we should retreat immediately. If the enemy can take down the elite of the two great nobles, they can certainly take us down," Li, frightened, looked at Gu Fan with pleading eyes.

Gu Fan remained unmoved, now extremely curious to know who this master was.

At that moment, they heard many footsteps outside; another batch of elite troops from the two great nobles had arrived and turned pale when they saw what had happened.

Li recognized the one leading them, a true member of the Xue Clan, and immediately greeted, "Lord Xue Long, you are here, that’s a great relief."

Xue Long also recognized Li and immediately demanded, "You’re that Li, Catherine’s subordinate. What on earth happened here?"

Li responded nervously, "I don’t know what happened. They had already been attacked when we arrived."

"Could it be that Gu Fan and his group knew we were gathering here to deal with them, so they took preemptive action?" Xue Long speculated, but Gu Fan responded, "Those people are being watched by Organization X, it shouldn’t be their doing."

"Who are you?" Xue Long noticed Gu Fan, a new face making him furrow his brow.

Li explained, "He recently joined us, also under Lady Catherine, and it was he and I who obtained the photos of Gu Fan and his group."

"Oh, I see," Xue Long’s expression was indifferent, not particularly concerned about Gu Fan’s identity.
