Chapter 1370: Chapter 1370: A Painting

Zhuo Hang marched forward with fury, his fists pounding and wooden spikes flailing, he slaughtered every vampire brave enough to block his path. His entire body was bloodstained, and his aura of killing anyone in his way instilled fear in the vampires.

"What background does this guy have, he seems to possess the same perfect immortality as Lord Xiong," the vampire warriors were also scared of Zhuo Hang and began retreating.

Zhuo Hang snorted coldly, "If you don’t want to die, make way, or I’ll kill my way through."

"Stop dreaming, no matter how strong you are, you’re still just one person," a new group of vampire warriors arrived and started surrounding Zhuo Hang.

"Fine, let’s see how long you can stop me," Zhuo Hang glanced at the heavy Dark Gate, took a deep breath, gripped his wooden spike tighter, and prepared to charge in with all his might.

At that moment, the Dark Gate opened and Xue Jun came with a group of subordinates. They saw the scene filled with numerous corpses, finding it hard to believe that Zhuo Hang had done this alone.

"No matter who you are, daring to cause trouble in the Dark City, you definitely won’t have the chance to leave here alive," Xue Jun said, trying to maintain his composure although he didn’t take any real action.

Zhuo Hang pointed his wooden spike at Xue Jun and shouted, "I’ll say it one last time, clear the way, or I will make my way through."

"Fine, I’ll let you pass. The person you want to meet is waiting for you at the Tower of Darkness," Xue Jun snorted coldly and then ordered everyone to clear the path for Zhuo Hang.

This sudden change surprised both parties who were ready to clash violently; instead of a bloody battle, Xue Jun suddenly ordered to let him pass.

Zhuo Hang looked at the vampires making way for him and saw the Dark Door opened for him. He felt incredibly uneasy, knowing that stepping through it meant entering the enemy’s territory, and even with his immortality, he couldn’t possibly fight his way out alone.

However, since he had come this far, Zhuo Hang was determined to clarify one thing.

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Zhuo Hang walked steadfastly through the vampires, ignoring their hostile gazes and the looming danger, resolutely stepping into the Dark City.

Upon entering the Dark Gate, Zhuo Hang saw a towering black spire piercing the clouds, he believed it to be the Tower of Darkness that Xue Jun had mentioned.

"What’s wrong? Why aren’t you moving? You’re not scared, are you?" Xue Jun taunted from behind, but Zhuo Hang responded indifferently, "Scared? I have never been scared." After saying that, Zhuo Hang walked step by step toward the Tower of Darkness.

Before his journey to the Dark Primitive Mountain, Zhuo Hang saw a painting at the inn which surprised him not because of the painting itself but because of a mark at the bottom left corner.

It was a distinctive mark, more specifically a symbol of the Eternal Life Clan, and the artist had integrated this symbol perfectly into the painting itself.

Of those Zhuo Hang knew who painted like this, there was only one, but that person, like the rest of his people, had perished in the great massacre at the hands of their boss.

So Zhuo Hang left Gu Fan and the others behind and did not start out with them.

Zhuo Hang first inquired about the origin of the painting at the inn, and the innkeeper told him it was a bargain picked up at an auction.

Zhuo Hang then found the president of the auction house, who revealed that the painting was bought from a street artist by a rich man who then colluded with the auction house to hype it up and sell it for a good price.

Eventually, Zhuo Hang found this rich man and forced a confession using severe methods. According to the rich man’s description, he paid a protection fee to Organization X every year to ensure his business ran smoothly. Later, at a banquet by Organization X, the rich man happened upon an elder Easterner painting in a garden corner, a figure so absorbed it seemed he was in another world.

Despite his age, this Eastern elder had an undeniable presence and manner. Seeing how respectfully Organization X’s people treated him, the rich man impulsively bought the painting.

At that time, Zhuo Hang surmised that the owner of the painting had sizable ties with Organization X, but he could trace no further clues afterward, so he caught up with Gu Fan and the others.

However, after Gu Fan and Zhuo Hang emerged from the forbidden area, Zhuo Hang encountered several vampires. After a skirmish, Zhuo Hang defeated them.

Unable to prevail, the vampire warriors hadn’t planned to clash with Zhuo Hang to the death.

Although Zhuo Hang had initially intended to spare these vampires, he still wanted to rush to Su Hui’s side to ensure her safety. However, a remark from those vampires before they left shocked Zhuo Hang.

"This guy possesses the same perfect immortality as Lord Xiong," once the vampire said this, Zhuo Hang immediately realized that person might still be alive and have significant connections with Organization X.

Thus, Zhuo Hang chased after those vampires, and thus he got separated from Gu Fan and the others.

After torturing the vampires severely, they confessed everything.

Zhuo Hang got the answers he wanted, and after killing those vampires, he set his sights on Dark City.

Given Zhuo Hang’s capabilities, he wouldn’t have needed a day to reach Dark City, but unfortunately, he ran into several traps and got detained for a while. However, he always had his immortality and ultimately managed to fight his way out with some effort.

Now Zhuo Hang was under the Tower of Darkness, his heart pounding with tension and excitement. He hoped it was that person, yet he feared it wasn’t, dreading his hopes being dashed.

Taking a deep breath, then another deep breath, Zhuo Hang couldn’t bring himself to push open the door of the Tower of Darkness.

"What’s wrong, are you scared?" Xue Jun taunted from behind, quite scornfully.

"When have I ever been scared?" Zhuo Hang knew the other party was using reverse psychology, but for Zhuo Hang, having come this far, there was absolutely no reason to back down.

With his mind made up, Zhuo Hang forcefully pushed open the door and strode in, his eyes quickly scanning the surroundings.

The hall was empty, adorned like a Western castle with thick walls that felt like giant boulders stacked upon each other, with shields and swords hanging on the walls and a few sets of armor placed in the corners.

From the dimly lit staircase, rhythmic footsteps sounded, causing Zhuo Hang to immediately become alert, staring intently at the steps.

"I originally thought the first to find me would be your brother, but unexpectedly, it’s you," the aged voice of Lord Xiong echoed, and then his silhouette gradually became clearer in the dim light as he walked step by step toward Zhuo Hang.
