Chapter 1368: Chapter 1368 Moving Around

By the time Gu Fan returned to the hotel, he discovered that Li had already slipped back, although Li looked a bit worse for wear, with a face even more bruised and swollen than Gu Fan’s.

"I’m a member of Organization X, after all," Gu Fan feigned indignation. "I’ve been beaten by these punks. We must seek revenge."

Li shook his head, "Forget it, we’re on a secret mission. We mustn’t let Organization X know we’ve been here."

"So, that’s it? We’re just going to let this go?" On seeing Li’s helpless look, Gu Fan instantly understood that indeed, they had to let it go.

Both of them, grimy from the altercation, each took a bath before lying on their beds to continue chatting. As they talked into the night, sleepiness overtook them, and they closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep.

The next day, at Gu Fan’s suggestion, they tried to approach the residence of their target. However, they were shocked to arrive and see several trucks parked outside, seemingly in the midst of moving.

Li started to worry, "They’re not thinking of leaving, are they? We haven’t even taken any pictures yet. If we fail Catherine’s mission, we’ll be punished when we return."

Gu Fan also pretended to be frantic, "What do we do, what do we do? Shall we just run over there with our faces covered?"

Li shook his head, "Even with covered faces, Organization X won’t see who we are, but we’ll definitely arouse suspicion and might be monitored. If our identities are exposed, it’ll make things difficult for Catherine, and we’ll still be punished."

"That won’t work, and neither will this. Aren’t you the lucky one, Li?" Gu Fan looked at him expectantly, but Li expressed that this time his luck might not be of any use.

Watching the trucks drive away, Li’s expression sagged in defeat, while Gu Fan put on a bit of an act.

"Alright, let’s just pack up and head back. We’ve got nothing else to do here," Li said listlessly, turning to walk back.

Gu Fan also appeared downhearted, secretly thrilled inside, because the real show was about to begin.

Just when Li thought they were going to return without achieving anything, he turned a corner in the street and was dumbstruck to see those very trucks parked at another hotel. He was flabbergasted.

Gu Fan too put on a look of surprise, "Oh my god, they aren’t leaving—they’re just moving to another place to stay?"

Li frowned and immediately pulled Gu Fan to the side to hide.

Gu Fan, not understanding, asked, "What’s going on? You seem nervous."

Li explained, "Organization X must have sent many people to monitor the target. Now that the target has moved, they’ll surely follow. So if we don’t want to be seen by Organization X, it’s better to stay hidden."

"What are you saying? After all this, we still can’t approach the target?" Gu Fan showed a face full of disappointment, and Li also shook his head and sighed, "Unless the target moves into the hotel where we are staying now, it will be really difficult to complete this mission."

Upon hearing this, Gu Fan was startled, thinking to himself that Li, called lucky, truly was fortunate.

This was exactly what Gu Fan had planned—to have Lin Xi, Su Hui, Irina, Lu Yi, and Ouyang Jin move hotels every day, making a dozen moves in succession, just to confound and mislead Organization X.

Even if Organization X suspected that Lin Xi and Su Hui were covering up something by doing this, they certainly wouldn’t guess just what it was.

Li could never have imagined, merely voicing his thoughts, that after moving twice, the target would move into the hotel where he was staying on the third round. It was as if the heavens were helping him.

"What do we do, what do we do? What are we supposed to do now?" Li was agitated, at a loss for what to do.

Gu Fan worked to calm himself, steadied his mind, and firmly grasped Li’s shoulder, looking at him intently, "This may be our only chance. Let’s split up; you go to the lobby, I’ll stay at the entrance. Let’s capture however many photos we can get."

Li nodded and went to the lobby as Gu Fan had instructed.

Indeed, upon arriving, Li caught sight of the breathtakingly beautiful oriental face of Su Hui. Barely a glance, and Li was deeply drawn in, immediately identifying her as the target.

"Stay calm. I must stay calm!" Li stealthily took out his compact camera, wanting to take clandestine photos. But, worried about being seen, he desperately sought an inconspicuous corner, internally cursing why he wasn’t good at taking secret photos.

Meanwhile, agents from Organization X had also arrived at the hotel, immensely puzzled—what were these people on, moving hotels every day? What were they trying to do?

The agents from Organization X immediately suspected that this group had a secret mission. Their continuous moving must be a cover.

Because the trucks obstructed the view, Organization X did not clearly see who got on and who stayed behind. They even speculated that perhaps with each move, someone slipped away unseen.

Thus, the agents of Organization X immediately checked their notes: after the first move, Lin Xi and Su Hui had been seen coming out; after the second, Lu Yi, Ouyang Jin, and Irina had also appeared.

"So far, we haven’t seen that Gu Fan. Could it be that he truly isn’t here?" While Organization X was filled with doubts, preparing to report this matter, they spotted a familiar figure at the entrance of that hotel—it really was Gu Fan.

Organization X breathed a sigh of relief: "So the guy is here after all."

Although they didn’t know what the group was up to, as long as they stayed put, that was fine. The surveillance team quickly made their report, at last locating Gu Fan, who seemed to stay in the small town all this while.

Some suggested this theory: "Every time they move, Su Hui is the last one to leave, and she is always vigilant of her surroundings. It makes it difficult for us to quickly follow their pace. I think they’re trying to lure us out through these moves."

"That’s a logical point, they move, and we have to move. Each move carries the risk of us being exposed." Organization X began pondering in this direction.

In fact, before the plan even started, Gu Fan had already considered this. Organization X had monitored for days without spotting Gu Fan. But once the continuous moves began, they quickly discovered Gu Fan. A little thought revealed that there was something fishy.

So Gu Fan had Su Hui linger last and watch for any surveillance by Organization X, as if they were trying to lure the snake out of its hole, thereby misleading Organization X’s line of thought.
