Chapter 1334: Chapter 1334: Beauty in Danger

In a nondescript house tucked away in a corner of Dark City stood a building three stories high, each floor no more than twenty square meters. The narrow space combined with the dilapidated grey walls, some of which flaked away with peeling paint, gave the impression that the building could collapse at any moment.

The owner of the house worked for Organization X and had been gone for an extensive period, so the house was supposed to be unoccupied.

However, tonight, someone pushed open a floor panel inside the house and crawled out from an underground tunnel, followed by another person.

"It’s incredible that we were able to get in just like that," Leng Le said, disbelieving, then turned to look at the mysterious masked person.

The mysterious masked person, arms folded, looked unsurprised, "The timing of our entry is perfect. The owner of the house isn’t here, and even the neighboring houses are empty. Our movements will not be detected."

Leng Le was curious, "How do you know that?"

"That’s none of your concern," the mysterious masked person replied coolly, his voice exuding authority, causing Leng Le to lower her head and dare not speak further.

The mysterious masked person then instructed, "Leng Le, you come with me. As for the rest of you, don’t wander around without my order. If anything happens, I will not take responsibility. Also, your movements are limited to the first and second floors."

The others nodded repeatedly, indicating they understood.

Silently, Leng Le followed the mysterious masked person up to the third floor, her heart filled with unease, uncertain of what arrangements the mysterious masked person had in store for her alone.

On the third floor, there was a balcony making the room even smaller—clearly, the mysterious masked person intended to stay here, and his bringing Leng Le up as well carried an obvious implication.

The atmosphere in the room was heavy, Leng Le felt uncomfortable and tense.

Suddenly, the mysterious masked person forcefully wrapped an arm around Leng Le’s waist, and looked at her sternly, the feeling was like an oppressive mountain looming over her, sending chills down Leng Le’s spine.

"You don’t need this," the mysterious masked person took a box of pills from Leng Le’s pocket and crushed them in front of her.

Leng Le’s eyes widened, her heart consumed by panic.

"Do you think I don’t know you’ve been secretly taking medication?" the mysterious masked person said coldly.

"This..." Leng Le didn’t know how to explain, her mind a mess, attempting to push the mysterious masked person away, but his grip was too strong; his hand on her waist seemed to be telling Leng Le to accept her fate.

"What you have to do next is simple, just get pregnant with my child," the mysterious masked person said plainly. It was like a bolt from the blue for Leng Le. She had never considered having a child for a man, not even for Gu Fan, whom she had once loved.

Yet the mysterious masked person overpowered her with a kiss and then picked her up, making it clear to Leng Le that she had no room to negotiate.

"Bastard, let me go!" Leng Le clutched at the sheets, helpless yet defiant.

After a long night, Leng Le fell into a drowsy sleep. When she finally woke up around ten in the morning, she saw the mysterious masked person getting dressed with his back turned to her.

In the past, after anything happened between her and the mysterious masked person, he would typically leave while she was still drowsy, late at night.

Now, for the first time, Leng Le saw the mysterious masked person dressing. She caught a glimpse of something, but it was quickly obscured.

"Could it be? Did I see things?" Leng Le wanted to confirm, but the mysterious masked person had already dressed.

Determined to clarify her earlier doubt and thinking she had already been compromised, Leng Le recklessly threw herself at the mysterious masked person, hugging him from behind with a tenacious and longing expression.

"There, there. I’ll just take care of some matters and then come back to join you," the mysterious masked person patted Leng Le’s chin, laughing, and then left.

Leng Le frowned. She was eager to understand, but she knew this mysterious masked person was always on guard. Too much haste could expose her intentions, so Leng Le decided to bide her time and wait for the next opportunity.

At the same time elsewhere, Li Shi finished dealing with company matters, feeling utterly exhausted, and rested in her chair for a while.

Since becoming the boss, Li Shi had been packaged into the image of a powerful businesswoman for the public, undoubtedly adding to her pressure. She worked overtime every day, ensuring today’s tasks were never left until tomorrow.

Her employees, motivated by Li Shi, also worked late into the night.

A female assistant knocked on the door to Li Shi’s office and asked, "President Li, it’s getting late, shall I order you some late-night snacks?"

"Thank you. You’ve had a long day too," Li Shi replied gratefully, with a smile.

"Alright, I’ll take care of it," the assistant nodded and left.

Li Shi turned to gaze out the window. Seeing so many office buildings still lit up and vehicles coming and going on the streets, she couldn’t help but feel the immense pressures of work. In comparison, school days seemed so much more idyllic.

Thinking of school, Li Shi’s thoughts wandered to Gu Fan, and how their beautiful yet unstarted relationship had become a shared regret.

"Gu Fan, where are you now? What are you doing? Have we really just missed each other?" Just as Li Shi was lost in her melancholic thoughts, she heard a gasp—it came from the assistant.

Next, she heard the sound of something falling to the ground. Li Shi was extremely anxious, staring intently at the office door, her hand reaching for something that could be used as a weapon.

"Don’t be so nervous," Helen said, walking in with a beaming smile, greeting her with a friendly demeanor, "Remember me?"

Li Shi’s brow furrowed, "I remember you. You are Gu Fan’s relative and also related to Haywes."

"Oh, you have a great memory, and you’re so pretty and capable. No wonder Gu Fan cares so much about you," Helen said with a smile as she approached, though her smile hinted at ill intent.

"What are you doing here so late? What do you want?" Li Shi asked, somewhat scared and stepping back.

"Don’t be afraid. I’m not going to hurt you; if I did, Gu Fan would never forgive me. However, what Gu Fan is doing now has affected the interests of another one of my relatives, so I hope you’ll come with me," Helen replied with a slight smile, her hands together in a pleading gesture.

"Go, where?" Li Shi was frightened and had retreated behind her chair.

"You’ll know when we get there. Also, don’t ask too many questions—it won’t benefit you to know. Consider yourself lucky it’s me asking you nicely. So, please, cooperate," Helen said, continuing her plea while simultaneously seeming to threaten.
