Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1326: No Way Out
Chapter 1326: Chapter 1326: No Way Out
"Lu Yi did a great job distracting that damn AI," Gu Fan thought with relief, grateful that his friend had finally stopped being such a doomsayer.
By the time Xiaolan the AI regained her senses, she realized Gu Fan and the others had already covered a great distance, which left her dumbfounded. She couldn’t help but curse, "Damn it, I should have unleashed my ultimate move before contemplating life."
Then, the pattern of the floor collapse changed. It wasn’t happening under their feet any longer but rather in front of them.
"How annoying is this?" Gu Fan muttered as a piece of the floor suddenly collapsed in front of him, forcing him to take a detour, which cost them some time.
As more and more sections of the floor collapsed, the path forward became fraught with difficulty. They had to constantly detour around the collapsed areas, further draining their time and energy.
"Keep going, everyone! Don’t stop!" Gu Fan shouted, trying to boost morale, but unfortunately, he didn’t have much energy left and couldn’t muster a commanding voice.
Lin Xi could have flown across, but she had used too much supernatural power earlier when combating the closing walls with her Protective Barrier. She had not fully recovered and could only worry. Nevertheless, she was confident that she could regain some power at the critical moment to fly with Gu Fan.
Su Hui was the quickest. She had already reached the heavy door and, standing up, she tried pushing it open. The door wouldn’t budge, as immovable as a mountain or as if it had been welded shut.
"What kind of crappy door is this? This is too much!" Su Hui kicked the door, but it still didn’t move an inch.
Suddenly, the floor beneath Su Hui collapsed, and she felt herself sinking down, realizing in a flash that she was going to fall.
Just in the nick of time, Zhuo Hang lunged over, grabbed Su Hui’s arm, and pulled her up with all his might.
"Thank you!" Having narrowly escaped danger, Su Hui glanced at Zhuo Hang, but then her eyes focused solely on Gu Fan, who was catching up.
At that moment, Gu Fan reached the door and started searching for a switch that might open it.
Half of the area’s floor had already collapsed, reducing the available standing space by half and making everyone’s path even narrower and slower.
Gu Fan and Su Hui were anxious. If they couldn’t find a way to open the door, it didn’t matter if everyone arrived safely as they would all end up falling together in the end.
"Let me try!" Zhuo Hang threw a powerful punch at the door, generating a thunderous noise, but not even a mark was left.
With a smug smile, Xiaolan the AI boasted, "What were you thinking? My stuff is very sturdy. It can’t possibly be broken that easily."
Hearing this, everyone’s hearts sank, wondering if they really couldn’t get through.
"There must be a way," Gu Fan thought to himself. Just then, panicked cries rang out, "Wait for me, wait for me!"
Gu Fan immediately turned back and saw some people lagging behind. A large section of the floor had collapsed on the path, forcing them to take a long detour. But as time went on, more of the floor collapsed, making it impossible for them to get around.
As seconds ticked by, more people arrived where Gu Fan was, and even more found themselves in a difficult predicament, unable to move forward or retreat.
"I refuse to believe it. Let’s all help," Zhuo Hang said, pushing against the door with all his strength, as did Su Hui and the others.
Lu Yi and Ouyang Jin arrived as well. Although they were tired, there was no time to rest. They hurried over to push against the door.
United by a common effort, the door finally budged slightly, giving everyone a glimmer of hope.
"Everyone, push harder!" At Zhuo Hang’s call, everyone summoned all their remaining strength, and the heavy door moved a bit more.
However, the speed of the door opening was always slower than the speed of the floor collapsing. In Gu Fan’s sight, three-quarters of the floor had already fallen away, and the standing area was quickly shrinking.
The good news was that most people had made it across safely, but the increased number of people meant less space available to stand. An area that might have fit a hundred people now could barely fit eighty, and it was rapidly getting smaller.
"Put your backs into it, push harder!" Irina grew desperate. The door was only slightly ajar, wide enough for perhaps a child to squeeze through.
Lin Xi had regained some of her Qi and took to the air, overseeing everything from her vantage point above, fully aware of the dire situation.
"Oh, I forgot you can fly," Xiaolan the AI said, floating beside Lin Xi with an intrigued smile, then adding, "You’re safe for now, but you can only save one more person at most. It’s impossible to save everyone."
Lin Xi ignored the remark, knowing full well that she really couldn’t save everyone.
"No, Lin Xi, you can save everyone," Gu Fan stated, immediately capturing everyone’s attention.
Though no one knew what Gu Fan had planned, the mere suggestion that everyone could be saved ignited hope, rekindling the fire in their exhausted bodies.
Lin Xi flew to Gu Fan, who whispered instructions in her ear.
"What? You want to do that?" Lin Xi’s eyes widened, and she looked somewhat incredulous.
Gu Fan nodded, his expression resolute, "Go on, I believe you can do it."
"It’s not about whether you believe I can do it or not, this..." Lin Xi started but was cut short by Gu Fan’s determined gaze. Knowing she couldn’t argue, Lin Xi did as Gu Fan had instructed.
Xiaolan the AI watched, anxious, not understanding the trick Gu Fan was pulling. Clearly, Lin Xi’s abilities could save only one person, so why claim she could save everyone? It made no sense.
Gu Fan looked up at the Artificial Intelligence, Xiaolan, who was now wearing a confused expression, then he smiled subtly and joined the others in pushing the door.
"What good idea have you come up with that allows you to stop pondering and concentrate on pushing the door with your companions?" Xiaolan the AI doubted that Gu Fan could figure out a solution and even thought for a moment that he was bluffing. But what was the point of that?
Lin Xi landed back on the ground, aiming to conserve her supernatural power, as she focused intently on everyone, her body tensed as if ready for something significant.
"Are you planning to... But can your Qi sustain it?" Xiaolan the AI seemed to have guessed what Lin Xi was about to do and furrowed her brow, then she glanced at Gu Fan, thinking he was really going for broke.
