Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1323: Taking a Shortcut

Chapter 1323: Chapter 1323: Taking a Shortcut

Having eaten their fill and gotten a good night’s sleep, everyone finally pulled through.

Because Gu Fan was too exhausted earlier, he had not asked too much. Now, he was full of doubts and wanted to know whether Su Hui, Lin Xi, and Zhuo Hang, who had gone ahead, had discovered anything.

Su Hui answered this question. The initial plan was for Gu Fan to distract the artificial intelligence so that Su Hui and the others could sneak past, but in reality, Gu Fan and Su Hui were too naive.

How could the artificial intelligence created by the ancient super civilization be so weak? As soon as the sensors at the secret research base detected an anomaly, they transmitted the information to the artificial intelligence Xiaolan. Xiaolan quickly discovered that Su Hui, Lin Xi, and Zhuo Hang had sneaked away.

However, Xiaolan underestimated the capabilities of Su Hui, Lin Xi, and Zhuo Hang; the obstacles it set weren’t very challenging, so Zhuo Hang forcefully overcame them.

By the time Xiaolan reacted, Su Hui, Lin Xi, and Zhuo Hang had already broken into a place resembling a laboratory, where they found a blueprint that seemed to be the layout of the research base.

Su Hui had a great memory and had already committed the blueprint to her mind. Based on what she had seen, she roughly figured out everyone’s location.

Upon hearing this, Lu Yi became excited, "Sister Su, you’re basically a living map; we’re all counting on you." After speaking, Lu Yi disdainfully glanced at Ouyang Jin.

Ouyang Jin frowned, "What do you mean? Are you saying that with Sister Su leading the way, my role as a guide is useless, so you’re planning to bargain me down?"

Hearing this, Gu Fan put on an overjoyed expression, "Right, why didn’t I think of that? Why can’t we bargain?"

Ouyang Jin immediately issued a stern warning, "Don’t even think about it. Anyone who tries to bargain will get into serious trouble with me."

"You really do stick to your principles," everyone pretended to look admiringly at him.

Seeing the conversation veering off topic, Su Hui quickly interjected, "Enough, let’s stop talking about useless things and leave here."

"Wait a second, where’s Zhuo Hang?" Gu Fan looked around carefully but couldn’t see Zhuo Hang anywhere. He wondered if the three weren’t sticking together.

Su Hui shook her head earlier, "We ran into some danger. Zhuo Hang was covering our retreat, and then we got separated. Lin Xi and I also got separated but unexpectedly ran into each other here."

Lu Yi nodded, "It seems some things are meant to be; it’s destined for us to be together."

"I guess I’m destined to suffer alongside you guys," Ouyang Jin said with a reluctant expression.

This time, led by Su Hui, everyone moved forward, their hearts pounding. They had no idea what kind of mechanisms or traps the malicious artificial intelligence had set up ahead.

As they walked, Su Hui suddenly stopped, took out her flashlight, and took a good look around, as if searching for some clues.

Everyone was puzzled and didn’t know what Su Hui was looking for. All around were empty stone walls.

Then, Su Hui pointed the flashlight at a wall; as if confirming something, she strode over and kicked forcefully at the wall, actually kicking it open.

"Wow, there was actually a hidden door here," everyone was somewhat exhilarated. Without Su Hui, they would never have known about the hidden door.

Suddenly, Xiaolan appeared, waving its fists in protest, "What is this? I’ve provided for you nicely, and yet you try to cheat? I’ve painstakingly set up major traps ahead, and you’re not appreciating my hard work. You don’t cherish the fruits of my labor at all."

Hearing this, everyone looked uneasy. Who would dare to continue forward now?

Su Hui was the first to step through the hidden door, and the others followed one by one. With Su Hui and Gu Fan there, the hope of making it out alive grew stronger.

Xiaolan was very displeased, "You’re going too far, come back here now."

But now, who cared about Xiaolan? Everyone followed Su Hui into the hidden door, and Lu Yi even cheekily made a face at Xiaolan.

"Damn you, just wait," Xiaolan gritted its teeth and then spoke harshly, "I was merely playing with you earlier. If you think the security system here is that poor, you’re sorely mistaken."

Hearing this, a chill ran down Gu Fan’s spine, and he imagined a scene of advanced weapons firing at them.

Regardless, they sped up, Su Hui started to jog, and everyone else, sensing the urgency, also quickened their pace.

After a while, Su Hui carefully felt the wall, then kicked it again, opening another hidden door, lighting up hope in everyone’s hearts.

Just as everyone was about to follow Su Hui through, the door suddenly shut, stunning everyone.

"You are too naive. I control every door here. I open them, close them, and make it rain whenever I want," Xiaolan said angrily, and then mechanisms above them activated, revealing numerous small holes.

Lu Yi looked bewildered, "What do you mean? After all our efforts and sweating, are you kindly offering us a shower?"

"Yeah, I’ll give you a bath with gasoline. Happy?" As Xiaolan spoke, everyone tensed up, none of them wanting to become roast meat.

Gu Fan and Su Hui exchanged glances, understanding each other’s intentions. They both exerted force, simultaneously starting and delivering flying kicks to force the recently closed secret door back open.

The ancient super civilization’s doors were indeed sturdy, but the combined strength of Gu Fan and Su Hui was extraordinary, surpassing Xiaolan’s expectations.

"You’ve broken the door here; you heartless people, I hope you become roast meat," Xiaolan grew even angrier, its scolding louder.

Everyone didn’t care, squeezing into the secret door, none wanting to lag behind and turn into roast meat.

Drops of gasoline began to fall from above, and flames sprayed from the walls, quickly igniting the gasoline into falling drops of fire, landing on the mercenaries.

Although it was only minor fire at first, causing mere burning pain, as the flames continued like light rain, many started screaming, urging their teammates to move quickly.
