Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1238: The Same Goal

Chapter 1238: Chapter 1238: The Same Goal

In the dimly lit forest, an eerie feeling pervaded the air. Occasionally, a few vampire creatures passed by, but they seemed to sense danger and swiftly kept their distance.

Leng Le stood with her arms folded, watching her surroundings indifferently, as she waited for the boss to awaken. She wasn’t afraid of any vampire creatures because she emitted an aura even more terrifying than theirs.

After a while, the boss finally opened his eyes, but he still felt terrible, his head throbbing incessantly. He could only sit down and take some time to recover.

"Thank goodness you’re finally awake," Leng Le said with a lifted tone of interest.

The boss glanced at Leng Le and instantly remembered that she was the one who had betrayed him. He became furious, and a murderous look surged forth.

However, the boss’s murderous look soon dissipated, leaving only a shake of the head and a bitter smile, "Congratulations on finding a bigger backer. You always had good judgment. If it were me, I would have chosen the one with the mask too."

Unimpressed, Leng Le responded, "Are you mocking me? Do you think I went over to the masked one on my own? He came to me, and he was very forceful. It seemed like the consequences of not submitting to him would be unbearable. You weren’t around at the time, I had no choice, I had to choose this new master."

"Besides, you know me, Leng Le, I’m not loyal. I side with whoever is stronger, all for the sake of survival," Leng Le said, her words revealing a ruthless pragmatism, while the boss simply nodded indifferently, "Yes, you did nothing wrong, it’s my fault, given my way of doing things, I truly don’t deserve anyone’s loyalty."

"Enough, I don’t have time to waste talking to you. I waited for you to wake up because my new master has a message for you." After speaking, Leng Le pointed in the direction of Dark City, "The answers you seek are there. If you want them, go find them."

The boss snorted coldly, "Trying to lure me to Dark City, what exactly is your new master’s purpose?"

To that, Leng Le just shook her head, "I don’t know for sure, but he’s definitely heading for Dark City."

Upon hearing this, the boss frowned, "You’re heading for Dark City, and so are Gu Fan and the Hunter’s Guild. That can’t be a coincidence."

"What, you know Gu Fan’s whereabouts? Do you know where he is?" Leng Le was surprised and anxious, but she quickly regained her composure and changed her tone, "That’s not surprising at all, Gu Fan is involved in many things."

The boss showed a disdainful expression, as though mocking Leng Le’s deliberate concealment.

"Alright, I’ve delivered the message. It’s up to you whether to go to Dark City or not." Having said that, Leng Le turned and left without giving the boss another glance, as if in victory and defeat, the fallen had no right to speak.

Suddenly, the boss called out to Leng Le, "If I run into Gu Fan, do you have any message for me to pass on?"

Leng Le, who was about to leave, froze, her steps involuntarily pausing and her body trembling slightly as if she was hesitating, as if she was afraid.

After a struggle within herself, Leng Le finally said, "If you happen to meet Gu Fan, tell him that maybe all this is targeted at him, and perhaps it would be best for him to stay as far away from Dark City as possible."

As the boss was puzzled and about to ask further, Leng Le hurried away.

"Is there a problem, a real problem?" The boss could sense that Leng Le still loved Gu Fan, still cared for his safety, and also sensed that Leng Le was not in control of her own fate.

A little later, Leng Le returned to the side of the mysterious man in the mask, while her subordinates also moved slowly through the forest of Dark Primitive Mountain.

The man in the mask glanced at Leng Le, who seemed preoccupied, and asked, "What’s wrong, did the boss scare you?"

Upon hearing this, Leng Le was immediately frightened and shook her head quickly, "No, the boss was going to deal with me, the traitor, but thanks to the blue liquid you gave me, the aura I released showed him I was not to be trifled with, so he abandoned the idea."

"It’s good you’re fine. Also, about the message I wanted you to convey, did you deliver it?" The man in the mask spoke coldly, with a terrifying authority that eclipsed even the boss, making Leng Le dare not hesitate and quickly reply, "I delivered the message, and the boss, being clever, guessed that you are deliberately drawing him to Dark City."

The man in the mask was unfazed, "Even if the boss knows it’s a trap, he will surely go to find out the truth."

Leng Le questioned, "From what I know of the boss, he would never let himself be used by anyone, why are you so sure he will go to Dark City?"

"Because that’s where his personal demon lies." After saying this, the man in the mask looked at the advancing troops, especially after seeing a few individuals, a trace of anxiety appeared in his eyes.

"I see!" Leng Le also noticed this and became even more certain of what the man in the mask was planning, but to accomplish this task seemed nearly impossible.

"Wait, could it be?" Leng Le took a careful look toward Dark City but again felt it unlikely.

The man in the mask took a step forward, "Enough, stop thinking about useless things. If the boss wants to know the answer, he must go to Dark City, and if you want to know the answer, you must go to Dark City. Everything will be revealed in time."

Perceiving the deep meaning in his words, Leng Le’s heart pounded violently, she became somewhat panicked, feeling that she shouldn’t have followed along on what she assumed was a clever move.

Now it was too late to say anything. Leng Le could only follow, looking at her subordinates she had recruited from various places, especially a few of the most unique ones, her heart filled with even more trepidation.

As the troops moved slowly forward, the man in the mask received a message from the general. The gist was that the previous night the United Army had suffered a large-scale attack by vampire creatures, sustaining heavy casualties and unable to continue as planned. They needed time to regroup, though they had also inflicted heavy losses on the vampire creatures.

"Well done!" The man in the mask seemed pleased, believing that after last night’s battle, the attention of all vampire creatures in Dark Primitive Mountain Forest would be on the United Army, allowing his troops to proceed unnoticed.

Then the general sent a second message, claiming he had seen the several Eastern faces the man in the mask had told him to watch for, including Gu Fan, Su Hui, and Lin Xi. He sought instructions on what to do next.

"Gu Fan, you’re indeed ahead of me, which is just right." The man in the mask couldn’t help but smile, his spirits lifted as he quickened his pace.
