Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1220: Great General

Chapter 1220: Chapter 1220: Great General

The night belonged to those bloodthirsty creatures. All mercenaries and the main forces began to gather and fully retreat while starting to count the casualties.

Near the Dark Primitive Mountain forest, an encampment had been set up, serving as the command center for the United Army. Everyone was busy transferring weapons and ammunition to various needed locations.

This time, the preparations of the United Army were a bit special. Every soldier was wearing a unique attire adorned with many wooden spikes.

The monsters from the Dark Primitive Mountain forest killed their prey through close combat, and this special attire made the bloodthirsty creatures wary. Even a hint of hesitation would slow them down, and any delay provided the United Army with an opportunity to open fire.

A general in his fifties was looking at screens, which displayed the battlefield situation; green indicated conquered areas while red showed danger zones.

Listening to his subordinates’ reports, the general heard they had killed over a hundred bloodthirsty creatures, with three hundred of the United Army fallen and two hundred wounded, equating to a loss of five hundred combatants. This was just the outcome of the first day.

After hearing the report, the general’s expression darkened, then he walked outside and saw the solemn faces of the soldiers, knowing morale was very bad.

No one knew how many bloodthirsty creatures were in the Dark Primitive Mountain forest. With such tragic losses on the first day, what about the second or the third? He feared that without one hundred thousand men, they could not take this deadly place.

Just when the general felt pessimistic, he suddenly received a call. After a brief conversation, his brow furrowed tightly.

After hanging up, he looked around to see if everyone was busy, then slipped away from his guards and left the camp alone.

Soon, the general arrived at a pitch-dark, deserted area. He looked all around and saw nothing, which made his heart grow colder.

"You’re here!" A detached voice came, almost giving the general a heart attack.

Clutching his heart, the general caught his breath slightly, "Can’t you make a sound when you appear? You almost scared me to death."

The person who arrived was a mysterious masked individual who said indifferently, "You’re a general with military power, after all. Please, try not to be so faint-hearted."

The general huffed, "Cut the act. I persuaded five surrounding countries to unite against Dark City, saying that as long as we stand together, we could overcome this obstacle. But with such heavy casualties on the first day, how do I explain this? If the fight continues like this, some might start thinking of retreat."

The mysterious masked person responded, "Relax, the vast gold mine here is definitely worth the risk. Besides, with me here, I won’t let anyone abandon the plan to take down Dark City."

"I don’t care about that. All I want is to ensure my own safety." After speaking, the general held out his hand, "Did you bring what I asked for?"

"Here you go!" The mysterious masked person handed over a small bottle with a blue liquid to the general and instructed, "Drink it when you’re in danger. Those so-called bloodthirsty creatures won’t be your match then, but it only lasts for three hours. Use it wisely."

The general pocketed the small bottle with the blue liquid, unable to help but complain, "Can’t you give me more?"

The mysterious masked person replied, "It’s difficult to prepare and takes time. Please be understanding."

"Fine, a pleasure working with you." As the general was about to take his leave, he suddenly heard the low growl of a beast from behind, which immediately tensed him up.

A bloodthirsty tiger was approaching, mouth wide open, ready to pounce.

However, the mysterious masked person moved like the wind, pinning the bloodthirsty tiger to the ground and disposing of it with the wooden spikes effortlessly.

Having dodged a bullet, the general breathed a sigh of relief, while the mysterious masked person added, "What are you afraid of with me here?"

The general gave an awkward smile, "I’m not scared, just a little nervous."

"Alright, hurry back. I’ve dealt with most of the bloodthirsty creatures near your camp, so you can sleep peacefully." The mysterious masked person reassured the general, who then felt at ease.

After the general left, a slim figure emerged from the dark forest. Leng Le had been observing in the shadows all along.

"Impressive, causing such a stir. Looks like Organization X is doomed this time," Leng Le remarked, looking intrigued at the mysterious masked person.

"If they don’t fall, my plan can’t proceed," the mysterious masked person glanced at Leng Le and asked, "Where are your people?"

Leng Le smiled slightly, "Don’t worry about my work. My people have reached the designated positions and are waiting for your command."

"Good, tell them to wait patiently, and not to cause trouble. I will give further instructions," the mysterious masked person said coldly with crossed arms, "I suppose you’ve guessed what I’m going to do next."

Leng Le nodded, "Without clearing out the creatures from Dark Primitive Mountain forest, my men can’t get through. Everything you’ve done is to ensure they can arrive at Dark City smoothly."

"Exactly. By the time I reach Dark City, Gu Fan will have already been fighting tooth and nail with Organization X. It will save us a lot of effort, killing two birds with one stone." After saying this, the mysterious masked person glanced at Leng Le again, "Rest assured, I will give you what you want."

"Thanks for that," Leng Le replied, still a bit worried, and added, "I’m not concerned about whether Gu Fan can reach Dark City safely, that guy has a tough life. What worries me is that such a large-scale campaign is clearly aimed at Organization X. They will surely take action, and whether we can succeed remains an uncertainty."

"You’re right. Organization X won’t sit idly by. I believe they are now calling their dispersed forces to reconvene, and even contemplating deploying their ultimate force," said the mysterious masked person, shocking Leng Le, "What do you mean? Just dealing with the bloodthirsty creatures of the Dark Primitive Mountain is costly enough. What is this ultimate force of Organization X?"

"That’s a secret. You’ll know when the time comes," the mysterious masked person didn’t elaborate, instead gazing into the night sky.

After pondering, Leng Le said, "So, relying solely on the United Army won’t be enough to conquer Dark City. You must have prepared a backup plan."

"Correct, this war has just begun. Several key players haven’t appeared yet. Once they arrive, it’ll be the end for Organization X," the mysterious masked person proclaimed confidently as if victory was already assured.
