Chapter 1189: Deep Sibling Love
Chapter 1189: Chapter 1189: Deep Sibling Love
The sun had set and under the glow of the twilight, Lin Yue arrived at the abandoned unfinished building. Seeing each hostile gaze cast from above, he knew this tough fight marked the beginning of his break with the gang.
The murderous look around him was intense. Lin Yue, standing alone and fully aware that he couldn’t fight them all off, steeled himself and went up anyway.
Step by step, Lin Yue ascended to the fifth floor, an open space where seemingly all members loyal to Sister Hong were gathered—easily a hundred people. From the look of it, he knew today wouldn’t end peacefully.
As soon as Lin Yue appeared, a few gang members seized him and tied him up. One of them was his close brother who tied Lin Yue with extra force, as if eager to distance himself from Lin Yue.
Through the crowd, Lin Yue saw his sister, Lin Xi, bound to a chair with Sister Hong and a foreigner beside her.
Lin Yue frowned. He couldn’t understand why a foreigner would be present at such a gathering. Could this be a new enforcer Sister Hong had brought in? However, by the looks of it, this person seemed to hold a higher status than Sister Hong.
"Could it be Organization X?" Lin Yue was baffled. He knew Sister Hong had connections with Organization X, but he hadn’t expected them to bring in someone from the organization just to deal with him. This was too much.
Lin Yue composed himself and was pushed forward a few steps by the gang members, standing twenty steps away from Sister Hong. He said calmly, "Sister Hong, I’m here now. You can let my sister go."
Sister Hong smiled faintly, "Weren’t you in a feud with your family? I’m surprised you’d risk yourself for your sister. Seems like the fallout wasn’t thorough enough."
Lin Yue responded indifferently, "This matter has nothing to do with my family. Sister, you know what I’ve done for you, I’ve even risked my life. How can you doubt me?"
"I don’t want to doubt you, but unfortunately, the evidence is conclusive." Sister Hong showed Lin Yue the photos and recording.
Lin Yue first looked at the photos, noticing he was caught leaving the house with Su Hui, which was why Sister Hong suspected he was Su Hui’s informant.
Then, Lin Yue listened to the recording and heard Gu Fan, Lin Xi, and Su Hui discussing how to take down Lin Yue’s gang.
Immediately, Lin Yue tried to explain, "Sister Hong, listen to me. Although I know Su Hui, that doesn’t mean I would betray you or the gang. Also, my sister and the others wanting to do something to our gang is something I knew nothing about. You can’t just use these two pieces of evidence to label me a traitor."
Chris interrupted briefly, "Whether you’re a traitor doesn’t matter now. What’s important is that you’re Lin Xi’s brother, and Lin Xi is Gu Fan’s girlfriend. That’s reason enough."
"What do you mean?" Lin Yue didn’t understand the connection, but he heard Lin Xi suddenly complain, "Are you kidding me? I asked you to just let Lin Yue know to bring me some takeout when he comes, and you guys forgot. I’m really hungry now. Can’t you please be a little considerate?"
Hearing this, Lin Yue was speechless, thinking to himself, is this really the time to worry about your takeout, Older Sister?
Chris’s expression darkened, "Lin Xi, don’t mess around. We have your brother, and if you don’t want him to get hurt, you’d better behave."
"Alright, alright, I’ll do as you say," Lin Xi said with a look of resignation.
Sister Hong and Lin Yue were both startled. Now it was Lin Xi held as a hostage, and Lin Yue had no choice but to walk into the trap for Lin Xi’s sake. But why did it sound like Lin Yue was the hostage and Lin Xi was the one walking into the trap when Chris spoke?
As the sun set and darkness fell, Chris let out a slight sigh of relief and then put on a confident expression, "Now that we have Lin Yue in our hands, Lin Xi, don’t try anything funny once you get back, do as I say."
Lin Xi shook her head, "No, no, no, I’m going to take my brother home."
Hearing this, Sister Hong furrowed her brows. Why did it seem like Lin Xi was taking this too lightly, as if it was all settled?
Chris, of course, rejected her, "Lin Xi, you should understand what the coming of night implies; I assure you that you won’t be able to take your brother away."
Lin Xi realized then, "No wonder your demeanor changes at night... I see..."
"Older sister, don’t worry about me. You go first." Lin Yue figured that only if Lin Xi left would he have nothing to worry about and could counterattack with all his might.
But who knew Lin Xi would snort coldly, "Shut up. It’s all because of you, you little brat, that I’m suffering like this. You better reflect on yourself once you get back. Also, you realize now how ruthless and heartless the gang is, don’t you? Home is warmer after all. Now, officially break away from this unreasonable gang."
"Ah~" Lin Yue was stupefied, then turned to look at Sister Hong and asked seriously, "Sister Hong, as long as you still trust me, let my sister go. I am still loyal to the gang, still loyal to you. Give me time, and I will definitely find out who the real traitor is."
Lin Xi immediately countered, "Why are you looking into it? The traitor in your gang providing information to Su Hui is doing the right thing. If you find out, then you are the scoundrel. Don’t investigate."
Upon hearing this, Lin Yue silently groaned, "Sister, what kind of time is this? Stop being wilful and making things worse."
But Sister Hong coldly said, "What’s the use of saying these now? Even if you’re not the traitor, you know Su Hui. How can I trust someone like you to stay in the gang?"
"This..." Lin Yue suddenly felt a chill in his heart, feeling the cold detachment from Sister Hong, a stark contrast to their previous warm interactions.
From that moment, Lin Yue finally gave up, only managing a bitter smile at the corners of his mouth, not expecting to break with the gang in such a manner.
Yet Lin Xi urged, "Little brother, don’t be downhearted. Look at your older sister’s beauty that I maintained even after much suffering for you. Can’t you finally decide to leave the gang and return to our warm home?"
Lin Yue nodded, "Since Sister Hong you don’t trust me and the gang has abandoned me, staying here makes no sense. Older sister, don’t worry, I hereby officially announce my break from the gang."
"That’s great!" Lin Xi was very happy; she had endured all this and been held hostage just to make Lin Yue lose all illusions about the gang, thus completely leaving the gang and returning to the life he truly belonged to.
Chris also realized this point, guessed that Lin Xi was about to explode in anger and quickly ordered his men to point a knife at Lin Yue’s throat, warning Lin Xi not to act rashly.
"You foreigners react too quickly." Now Lin Xi really couldn’t lose her temper, and she could only grin sheepishly, "We’ve all had a long day, we’re all tired, wouldn’t a peaceful ending be nice? After all, we all want to live and go back, don’t we?"
