Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1184: Falling Out After All
Chapter 1184: Chapter 1184: Falling Out After All
In the evening, Lin Xi packed up her things to leave work and saw a beautiful wedding dress displayed in a store window. She couldn’t help but smile—the image of wearing the stunning gown and walking down the aisle to marry Gu Fan filled her mind.
Suddenly, a luxury car drove up. At first, Lin Xi didn’t pay much attention, but then the car stopped right beside her, which still didn’t concern her much. That was until Sister Hong opened the door and faced Lin Xi, making it clear to her that this was no coincidence.
Sister Hong started with a polite invitation, "Hello, you must be Lin Yue’s sister, right? I’m Lin Yue’s boss. Could we have a chat?"
"You’re the female boss of Lin Yue’s gang, aren’t you?" Lin Xi furrowed her brow, not understanding why the other party sought her out, but she accepted the invitation without fear. In fact, the moment she sat in the luxury car, her queenly demeanor, fierce and commanding, completely overshadowed Sister Hong’s gang leader aura.
Sister Hong felt a bit uncomfortable inside, but was also secretly alarmed, once again confirming that Lin Yue’s sister was no ordinary person.
Lin Xi asked with an air of ease, "How should I address you?"
"I’m older than you, and everyone calls me Sister Hong. You can call me that," Sister Hong introduced herself and then counter-asked, "And how should I address you?"
"Hello, my name is Lin Xi, and thank you for always looking after my brother," Lin Xi responded, extending her hand to Sister Hong for a handshake, unafraid even after knowing Sister Hong’s gang affiliation.
Sister Hong let out a smile, "I think this isn’t the first time we’ve met."
Lin Xi nodded, "Yes, during our first encounter, your gang was involved in a fight with another gang. I was completely taken aback watching it."
"So you remember." Sister Hong scrutinized Lin Xi, who seemed fresh out of school without many years gone by. How could she have such a strong presence, as if she had been involved with the gang world even longer than Sister Hong herself?
Lin Xi then inquired, "What brings you to me?"
Sister Hong nodded, "I know Lin Yue has been feeling down lately, apparently due to some conflict with your family. I don’t want to see a subordinate I rely on being gloomy every day, so I wanted to talk to you."
To that, Lin Xi showed no hopeful expression, "There’s nothing to discuss, really. My parents want Lin Yue to leave the gang, but I doubt your gang would let Lin Yue go that easily. Therein lies the conflict."
Hearing this, Sister Hong felt disappointed, "It seems we have nothing to talk about, then."
"Not necessarily!" Lin Xi said with a significant smile, "If you truly care about Lin Yue, you’d allow him to leave the gang. You’re the boss; you have the authority to decide, don’t you?"
"Easier said than done," Sister Hong let out a bitter laugh along with a sigh, "If I allow Lin Yue to leave, others might start thinking they can leave too, and then the gang would lose its combativeness and cohesion. How could I continue being the boss then?"
"Indeed, my request does put you in a difficult position," Lin Xi conceded, not expecting much. She then added, "You came to me today, hoping to persuade me to accept Lin Yue’s current situation and then have me do the same with my parents, right?"
"Originally, yes. But seeing your attitude, I knew it was unrealistic, so I’ve changed my mind," Sister Hong replied with a sly smile that seemed unsettling.
Immediately after, Lin Xi saw Sister Hong pull out a gun and point it at her, causing her to frown in confusion, "What do you mean by this?"
"You really are no ordinary person, not scared at all even though I have a gun pointed at you," Sister Hong’s expression grew more intimidating as she pressed, "Tell me, what’s your relationship with Su Hui? Does Lin Yue know Su Hui? The last time Su Hui intercepted my shipment, was it Lin Yue who tipped her off?"
Lin Xi showed a look of disdain, "Wow, don’t make baseless accusations. Even if you are a gang and can be unreasonable, there should be some line you don’t cross, right?"
"A line, you think people like us have lines? It is you people who force us," Sister Hong retorted sharply, tossing Lin Xi a photo—it was of Lin Yue, Lin Xi, and Su Hui coming out of Gu Fan’s family’s old house.
Lin Xi took a careful look at the photo, her mind in turmoil—when had this been taken?
Organization X had actually been keeping an eye on Gu Fan all along, keeping him under surveillance with high-tech methods; Lin Xi and Su Hui were unaware when these photos had been snapped.
Now Organization X had given these photos to Sister Hong, instructing her to watch these people, and that’s how Sister Hong came across the photo of Lin Yue and Su Hui together.
Lin Xi, holding the photo, felt an awkward flush, as if even jumping into the Yellow River wouldn’t cleanse her now.
"Sister Hong, although I disagree with Lin Yue’s involvement in your gang, I have never instructed Lin Yue to betray it," Lin Xi tried to explain, but she could tell from Sister Hong’s skeptical expression that there wasn’t much hope.
"Is that so? Then how do you explain this?" Sister Hong played a recording next. It was of Gu Fan, Lin Xi, and Su Hui discussing how to take down Lin Yue’s gang so he could return to a normal life.
Now Sister Hong was convinced that the interception of the gang’s goods was Lin Xi, Su Hui, and Lin Yue’s doing.
However, Lin Xi was fixated on something else, "What do you mean, you’ve been following Lin Yue, taking pictures, and even installing bugs in the house?"
Sister Hong wore a derisive expression and didn’t answer Lin Xi’s question.
"Wait a second, Lin Yue had just returned to us, just moved in. You couldn’t have discovered and monitored Lin Yue’s life with us that quickly. So what’s the deal with this photo and recording?" Lin Xi quickly got to the heart of the matter, forcing Sister Hong to admire her despite herself, but Sister Hong would not answer.
"Talking about this now is pointless. Please come with me," Sister Hong tightened her grip on her gun, taking on a posture of control, "Also, let me remind you to cooperate nicely, or you will bear the consequences, consequences that you can’t afford."
"Do what you will; I’ve always thought you were no good, and I didn’t want Lin Yue to be with you. Now I’m even more convinced of that. Since you want to make things rough and simple, that just makes it easier for me," Lin Xi’s defiance was clear and she wasn’t perturbed by the unfavorable situation she was in—she was about to be kidnapped by a gang.
Sister Hong, the one with the gun, was now the one lacking confidence, almost regretting revealing her hand too soon, wondering if it wasn’t too late to apologize.
