Chapter 1182: Chapter 1082: Renewing Old Ties

On this day, Lin Yue, leading his clique and another group, got into a fight. Under his fierce leadership, they charged forward like a hot knife through butter, driving their rivals out of the territory with overwhelming force.

After the clash, his underlings were covered in bruises, but Lin Yue was unscathed, his vitality seemingly undiminished.

Looking at the newly acquired territory, Lin Yue showed no signs of happiness, for this constant fighting was not the life he desired.

A luxury car appeared, and Sister Hong came in person to offer her condolences. Seeing that Lin Yue was fine, she couldn’t help but admire him despite her surprise, "Lin Yue, you’re becoming more capable by the day. This is the third territory you’ve secured for me."

"It’s an honor to work for you, Sister Hong, so of course, I’ll do my best." Lin Yue showed utmost respect, even he was unclear when his feelings for Sister Hong had started to wane.

"Alright, you’ve worked hard, so I’ll treat you to dinner tonight." Saying this, Sister Hong affectionately linked her arm with Lin Yue’s, her smile signalling to everyone that her relationship with Lin Yue was more than what it seemed.

Lin Yue felt somewhat stifled. His relationship with Sister Hong had always been kept private. Even after Boss Hong was eliminated, Sister Hong never intended to make their relationship public, treating Lin Yue like her secret toy boy.

Since Sister Hong took charge, she had been increasingly busy and had stopped suggesting intimate activities like dinners with just Lin Yue.

After seeing Sister Hong’s ruthless side, Lin Yue also hadn’t reached out to her. Their interactions were limited to business matters, and the emotional aspect seemed to have been completely sidelined, leading Lin Yue to believe their relationship might get coldly dealt with.

This time, Sister Hong made their relationship public, declaring to the gang that she and Lin Yue were a couple, which caught Lin Yue off guard.

Lin Yue couldn’t fathom why Sister Hong had shifted her attitude so suddenly, not only rekindling but announcing their relationship outright.

"Could it be that she sees how valuable I am after securing several territories for her and wants to keep me tied to her ship?" Lin Yue put on a happy facade but was actually feeling uneasy inside.

In the midst of envious looks from his brothers, Lin Yue and Sister Hong got into the car and headed to a fancy restaurant for dinner, and then came the next step...

Lin Yue didn’t want to upset Sister Hong, so he didn’t refuse; they dined, drank, and slept as they used to, even more brazenly than before, without fear of Boss Hong finding out.

The next day as they went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, the awkwardness and distance from before were gone after a pleasant night together. They sat chatting and laughing like any couple.

Sister Hong affectionately wiped Lin Yue’s mouth, drawing envious glances from those around them.

Lin Yue seemed pleased to have such a girlfriend, thinking to himself that this change was sudden. Could Sister Hong have a lesser-known side to her?

After the happy and joyful atmosphere seemed well established, Sister Hong finally broached the real topic, "Lin Yue, we’ve been together for so long. Don’t you think you should take me to meet your parents?"

"You want to meet my parents?" Lin Yue looked troubled. "You probably know of the conflict with my parents... They disapprove of my current pursuits, whereas I cannot leave my brothers who’ve been through life and death with me."

Sister Hong said, "Lin Yue, your loyalty is what I admire. But your conflict with your parents is something you must resolve. Let’s do this: you take me to see your parents, and I’ll have a talk with them."

Lin Yue shook his head, "It’s impossible. I know my parents’ temperament. Otherwise, I would not have been forced to run away from home in the first place."

Frowning at his response, Sister Hong said, "I have an idea. What if we start a legitimate company to make money lawfully? You and your brothers manage it without having to fight, and I believe your parents would accept it."

Lin Yue shook his head with a bitter smile, "Impossible. My parents’ demands would surely include me leaving you. In their eyes, only then can I truly follow the path they envision for me."

"So what now? Even the ugliest bride has to meet her in-laws. Looks like I won’t have the chance," Sister Hong said with a look of disappointment, as if she truly wished for Lin Yue’s parents’ approval and their blessing.

Lin Yue reassured her, "There is a way, if one day we can completely change and my brothers no longer need to live violently, starting legitimate businesses, and I can leave with peace of mind to follow the path my parents wish for me. Then they can accept you and me."

Sister Hong frowned. Turning a gang completely legit? Who would manage the territories they had fought for? And with so many brothers under her, could they all really switch to legal business?

Lin Yue held Sister Hong’s hand, "Let’s not worry about that now. What matters most is that we’re happy together."

"You’re right!" Sister Hong smiled softly and then remembered something, "Besides your parents, you also have an older sister, right?"

"Yes?" Lin Yue didn’t understand why Sister Hong would suddenly bring this up.

Sister Hong smiled, "Nothing, just asking. I have a sister, too."

Lin Yue was curious, "I didn’t know you had a sister, Sister Hong. I’ve never seen her."

"You know the risks of our line of work, so I’ve always lived alone and kept my sister away, rarely even contacting her, just in case my enemies find her." Sister Hong sighed. "It’s a pity. She doesn’t understand me, even blames me, which is why I can relate to the difficulties of being an older sister."

Lin Yue nodded, "Indeed. Even though I left home ten years ago and missed out on a decade of connection with my sister, I can still feel her concern and the responsibility she feels to protect her little brother."

"That’s how it should be." Sister Hong smiled and wiped Lin Yue’s mouth again, a display of tender care from a good girlfriend.

Lin Yue fancied for a moment that maybe Sister Hong wasn’t bad, just forced by circumstances to make cruel decisions. She couldn’t afford to lose because she had a sister to take care of.

However, Lin Yue was mistaken about one thing. If circumstances could change a person, then that was indeed the character the person had adopted. Sister Hong was still Sister Hong, a woman who was not simple at all.
