Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1166: Your Child
Chapter 1166: Chapter 1166: Your Child
Today, after Lin Yue had just finished dealing with his tasks, the underground entertainment world had just closed for the night. Planning to take a good rest, since he had moved out of Gu Fan’s house and had nowhere to live for the time being, he decided to stay in his office.
Lin Yue took a good look at his living environment and felt a profound sense of melancholy. First, he hadn’t expected to leave the home he’d found, yet it seemed there was some truth in the saying that once you miss something, it might be gone for a lifetime. Many things, once lost, can never be recovered.
Second, this office once belonged to Brother Jin, and Lin Yue was just a subordinate; he had never imagined that one day he would sit in Brother Jin’s position.
"What’s the matter, can’t sleep? Then get up and practice martial arts," the Hunter walked in directly, not even bothering to greet.
Lin Yue just smiled; this was also a reason why he moved in, it was to make better use of his time to learn martial arts from the Hunter.
In this period, Lin Yue had trained hard and his strength had improved by leaps and bounds. He indeed had a talent in the martial arts world, and now he could just about hold his own against an average vampire, which meant that even a dozen or so ordinary people were no match for him.
But this level of strength was still not enough for Lin Yue. If he wanted to break away from the gang, he needed to become even stronger.
Lin Yue began with practicing hand-to-hand combat, then moved on to swordsmanship, and finally to cultivating his Qi, not wasting a single moment.
The Hunter, seeing Lin Yue so dedicated, felt somewhat reassured. This talent, coupled with hard work, was bound to achieve something. However, the Hunter also had his concerns, "Lin Yue, even if you possess Peerless Martial Arts and you can break away from the gang, if you have fallen out with your family, how do you plan to return?"
Lin Yue gave a bitter smile, "I can sense that my parents love me and want to make amends for the past. They are right; if they didn’t love me, if they weren’t thinking of my best interests, they wouldn’t bother with me. So I think once I leave the gang, they will definitely forgive me and take me back. Even if I don’t leave the gang, they would still want me to come home."
"What about you? Can you forgive them?" The Hunter’s words were full of meaning, and Lin Yue sighed, "During this time, I’ve been reconsidering why my relationship with my family has come to this point. Was it my parents driving me out of the house in a fit of anger, or was it my immaturity that broke their hearts? Later, I realized that true relatives, it’s not about forgiving or not forgiving. If you can sit down and eat together after a quarrel, then all is forgotten."
After hearing this, the Hunter smiled with approval, "Indeed, who hasn’t been scolded by their parents as a child? No matter how angry you are with each other, in the end, when the anger subsides, you’re still a family."
Lin Yue showed a melancholic expression, "It’s a pity, even if I break away from the gang, I still can’t go back home."
The Hunter was curious, "Why? Is it your pride?"
"No, it’s my mission. Haven’t you said that the descendants of Jian Shen have fought against vampires generation after generation? If so, then I definitely can’t return home." Lin Yue’s reasoning was solid; although he had thought about using a mask to hide his identity during missions, he couldn’t risk the chance, however small, that his identity would be exposed and that his family would be targeted by vampires.
The Hunter couldn’t help but sigh, "Yes, the nature of our work dictates that we can only have comrades in arms, not family members."
"Is that why you never married or had children?" A faint voice rang out, immediately putting the Hunter on alert, signaling with his eyes for Lin Yue to put on his mask immediately.
The Hunter watched Irina enter the underground entertainment world unannounced, walking in with graceful steps, the sound of her high heels especially loud in the quiet environment. The Hunter asked, "What are you doing here?"
Irina: "After all, I am a former comrade. I came here to catch up with you and by the way, to ask about someone." After saying this, Irina glanced over the masked Lin Yue and gave a greeting, "Hello, the next successor of Jian Shen, have you considered joining our ranks?"
Lin Yue directly replied, "Sorry, if my master doesn’t join, neither will I."
"Your master is more stubborn, but I believe you’re different," Irina said bluntly, unmasking the Hunter’s obstinacy. The Hunter, not the least bit annoyed, said, "If you’ve come to ask about someone, please get to the point."
"Alright, I want to know about a person named Gu Fan, you’ve supposedly met him before," Irina’s words caused the Hunter to furrow his brow. Unexpectedly, the Hunter’s Guild had already encountered Gu Fan.
However, what the Hunter was more interested in was, "How did you come across him?"
"That’s a long story, the guy is really special," Irina began to say, but was stopped by the Hunter, who gestured for them to talk outside.
Seeing the Hunter and Irina about to leave, Lin Yue on the side became anxious; he wanted to follow them, to understand more.
The Hunter told Lin Yue to stay put; before Lin Yue grew up, he shouldn’t know too much, especially about things related to the Hunter’s Guild, lest he get trapped due to insufficient strength.
Lin Yue knew this was his master thinking of his welfare, but he was still curious. The person Irina was inquiring about was named Gu Fan; could it be the same name as his future brother-in-law?
Lin Yue pondered why the Hunter’s Guild would inquire about Gu Fan, wondering if it was just a coincidence of someone sharing the same name, Lin Yue recalled his future brother-in-law, he seemed very ordinary, and afraid of his Older Sister.
However, Lin Yue was genuinely curious, not just about learning more about the Hunter’s Guild and Organization X, but because he could see the resentment in Irina’s eyes when she arrived, yet she couldn’t hide her admiration for the Hunter.
Lin Yue felt that the relationship between this woman and his master must be extraordinary, especially her words upon entering, "Is that why you don’t marry and have children?" It wasn’t surprise or curiosity, but rather an accusation.
The previous encounter, and this one, Lin Yue had seen the woman twice, and he was sure of one thing, that his master’s departure from the Hunter’s Guild and from this woman must have left her heartbroken.
"Forget it, better not meddle in other people’s affairs." Lin Yue decided it was their personal matter, and that he should focus on training, striving to take over one day soon.
Just as Lin Yue had started to practice a few moves, he suddenly heard the faint sound of a man and a woman arguing, and it seemed to be getting more intense by the moment. It appeared they were not having a pleasant conversation.
Lin Yue thought about intervening, but felt it inappropriate. Yet, as their voices grew louder, he found he couldn’t ignore it. As Lin Yue was hesitating, he heard a sentence, "Your child..."
Instantly, the sound of the quarrel was extinguished, leaving behind an eerie silence.
