Chapter 1132: Chapter 1132: Old Friends Meet

Although Gu Weihai spoke with fervor, when his words reached Gu Chuanshan’s ears, there was no reaction; his eyes were still filled with skepticism.

"Second granduncle, you also know how many generations of effort the Gu family has put into this old house, including Grandfather, my father, you, me, and Gu Fan. We’ve guarded it generation after generation, securing this old house firmly in our hands. And now, you’re asking me to simply hand it over?" Gu Chuanshan was indignant, seemingly unswayed by the fact that Gu Weihai was his elder and ready to confront him at any moment.

Gu Weihai’s expression darkened. "Yes, you’re right. It took several generations of effort for us to own that old house. But don’t forget why we wanted it in the first place. We believed the Destiny Stone could bring endless prosperity to our Gu family. But look at the life Gu Fan leads now; it’s far from what we envisioned. It’s time for our family to let go."

Gu Chuanshan shook his head, a look of difficulty on his face. "Let go of the efforts made by several generations of our family? How could I face Grandfather and my father after that?"

In response, Gu Weihai adopted a serious demeanor. "Don’t worry, I will take the responsibility for this matter. When we see them later, I will explain everything to them. This has nothing to do with you. Besides, I made the greatest sacrifices to acquire the old house. Now, as the elder, I have the right to decide its fate."

"This..." Gu Chuanshan hesitated, logically seeing no need to cling to the old house, but emotionally unable to part with it.

Gu Weihai patiently advised him. "Chuanshan, do you know why our family originally wanted the old house? Even to the point of making significant sacrifices, all for the sake of our descendants. Our actions weren’t meant to hold onto the house, but to ensure a better life for our future generations, right? Don’t you wish for Gu Fan to return to an ordinary life?"

"Of course, I do," sighed Gu Chuanshan. "You’re right, uncle. Everything our family has done was for the sake of our descendants."

"I’m glad you understand," Gu Weihai felt assured that this time he had managed to change Gu Chuanshan’s mind. Just when Gu Weihai thought the discussion could be concluded successfully, he saw Gu Chuanshan’s resolute expression.

"Uncle, you’re right. That’s why I absolutely cannot surrender our family’s old house." This statement shocked everyone. All eyes were on Gu Chuanshan as he continued, "Uncle, think about it. Although the Destiny Stone has caused endless troubles for Gu Fan, leading to crisis after crisis, hasn’t he always managed to safely overcome them? So, I’m thinking, maybe the Destiny Stone is setting these trials for Gu Fan, and once he passes them, it will bring something extraordinary to him, which could benefit the future generations of the Gu family."

Listening to this, Gu Weihai’s expression darkened further. "All you have are speculations. Are you willing to gamble the future of the Gu family on these guesses?"

Gu Chuanshan smiled faintly. "Initially, six families lived in that old house, and none sensed any change from the Destiny Stone. They even believed it was merely a rumor. Yet, despite that, uncle, you still took a chance on it, trading your sacrifices for a highly unlikely future."

Silence ensued. Gu Weihai had nothing to say; he closed his eyes in silence, knowing Gu Chuanshan had made up his mind and nothing could sway him.

"Uncle, I appreciate your good intentions, but since the Destiny Stone has chosen Gu Fan, the only thing we have to do is to persist," Gu Chuanshan reaffirmed his stance.

Gu Fan also spoke up. "Second granduncle, you don’t need to worry anymore. Since the Destiny Stone has chosen me, it won’t let me easily escape. So please, advise Organization X for me that some efforts are futile and bound to fail."

Gu Weihai shook his head, resigned. "Alright, alright, I know I can’t convince you and your father. But as an elder of the Gu family, I must remind you that you’re about to face an extremely terrifying organization, and this is all I can do for you."

"Thank you, second granduncle. I was prepared for this when I arrived here," just as Gu Fan finished speaking, the dining room’s door was pushed open, and two cloaked figures wearing masks walked in.

Su Hui frowned. "They have finally come, the top leaders of Organization X, and just as I suspected, there are two of them."

"It feels familiar!" Gu Fan slightly smiled, then watched as the two masked individuals moved a chair and sat down across from him.

Helen was nervous, observing the two highest-ranking members of Organization X beside her, full of doubt. She knew the individuals arriving held significant clout within the organization, but she hadn’t anticipated it would be the two most powerful figures. Could the organization have elevated their importance to Gu Fan to this extent?

Gu Chuanshan was puzzled, then looking at Gu Weihai’s grim expression, he realized that these two masked individuals were exceedingly formidable, enough to instill such dread in Gu Weihai.

Both parties faced off in silence, the atmosphere tensely deadlocked, especially since Gu Fan and Su Hui were completely on edge, ready to fight.

Ever since the two most powerful people from Organization X had arrived, they appeared unconcerned with anyone else, focusing solely on Gu Fan.

Though Gu Fan withstood the oppressive aura from the other side, his gaze conveyed the sense of a long-anticipated reunion.

The first masked individual finally broke the silence. "Gu Fan, it seems like you know who we are."

Gu Fan nodded. "Yes, I knew we would meet, so this day doesn’t surprise me."

The second masked person added, "But we are surprised, because a long time ago, we thought you were dead. We believed we’d never get the chance to settle our scores with you until recently, when we learned about your situation and found out you were still alive. We could hardly believe it."

"After hearing Helen’s report, saying you used the space-time door to travel to the ancient past, we finally understood why you, who are not immortal, have managed to live until now. You hid your identity very well back then," the first masked person spoke with deep and resentful undertones.

"What can I say? Even if I had told you back then that I traveled from the future to the past, you wouldn’t have believed it," Gu Fan replied, his lips curving into a smile, clearly enjoying observing the two masked individuals, "That makes sense, right? We are old friends after all, so no need for masks anymore, Lord Xiong, and Xue Wang."
