Chapter 1110: Chapter 1110: Challenge the Enemy

"What if I don’t agree? Will you really take harsh measures and destroy the economy here?" Gu Fan looked at Haywes with interest, trying to judge the truth of his words through his expression.

Haywes smiled slightly, poured himself a drink, then nonchalantly swirled his glass, "You could take a gamble, but you can’t afford to lose, and you wouldn’t want to see this city suffer because of a wrong decision from you."

"I didn’t expect you to play this big." Gu Fan sighed, seemingly out of options, and the more he seemed so, the more vigilant Haywes became. According to intelligence, this young man was not easy to deal with, perhaps he was thinking of a way to resolve the current crisis right then?

Haywes decided to put pressure on Gu Fan, "Gu Fan, our organization has given you three days to think, once the time passes and you haven’t agreed to our terms, you know the consequences."

"I certainly know the consequences, but do you and Organization X know the consequences?" Gu Fan stood up angrily, hands bracing the table, staring solemnly at Haywes, emphasizing his words, "You should also be clear that since the Destiny Stone chose me, there’s no room for you to interfere. You want to play? Fine, I’ll play with you all the way. Others may fear your Organization X, but in my eyes, you’re nothing. This is my turf, not yours."

Haywes was also annoyed, "Look, kid, don’t think just because you’ve been on a few adventures and had some lucky escapes, that you are something special. How could someone like you know the strength of our Organization X?"

"Do you even know what kind of places I’ve been to? Have you been there? Have you experienced what I have? You’ve just grown up in a privileged environment, where everything comes easy and success is handed to you. How could someone like you understand the difference between a flower in a greenhouse and one in a storm?" Gu Fan’s words carried utmost contempt and dismissal, which infuriated Haywes greatly.

"Enough, enough, stop arguing, do you not realize you’ve gone off-topic?" Helen intervened, cooling down the tempers slightly.

Haywes, full of superiority, "Fine, let’s talk facts. Even if you, Gu Fan, have been to some places, overcome hardships that ordinary people couldn’t, and completed seemingly impossible tasks, the challenge you face now is with our Organization X. The financial warfare you’re looking to engage in isn’t something you’re skilled at, kid, you’re not cut out for this."

Gu Fan snorted and then walked away.

"How can you just walk away, do you really not care about this city at all?" Haywes frowned deeply, the information stated that Gu Fan was a responsible and committed person who wouldn’t just abandon his hometown.

Just then, Gu Fan looked back, his eyes indifferent as he looked at Haywes, "There’s a saying here, ’if we’re not on the same page, why bother saying more? I’ve said it before, since Organization X has come looking for trouble, I’ll take you on all the way. And this meal reminded me of something, if I don’t completely take down Organization X, I guess I’ll never live peacefully."

Hearing this, Haywes was taken aback at first, then couldn’t help but laugh, "Kid, do you know what you’re saying? If Organization X was something you could take down, we wouldn’t have lasted a thousand years."

"Then let’s wait and see." After saying this, Gu Fan left the restaurant without looking back.

Haywes yelled from behind, "Listen, kid, just one word from me and you won’t even have the chance to leave this restaurant. And you talk about taking down the likes of us."

Haywes’ bodyguards promptly took the hint, keeping an eye on Gu Fan, readying themselves for battle, even blocking the doors, seemingly ready to teach Gu Fan a lesson.

"You’re wrong. If I wish it, the one who won’t be able to leave this restaurant is you." After saying that, Gu Fan’s gaze flashed with a fierce sharpness. His power released, spreading Qi waves around, causing tables and chairs to flip and bodyguards to stagger backward unsteadily.

Helen, sensing Gu Fan’s power, was astounded, "My goodness, to think a trip to the ancient times made him so powerful. Had I known, I would have gone too."

Haywes broke into a cold sweat, now realizing what kind of person he had provoked.

Gu Fan cleared all obstacles and just stood there, motionless, his back to Haywes who was trembling, silently praying for Gu Fan to leave quickly.

Finally seeing Gu Fan leave the restaurant, Haywes breathed a sigh of relief and slumped down, not knowing how tense he had been.

But Helen rushed out after him, seeing Gu Fan’s determined stride; she became anxious, "Wait up, Gu Fan, wait, wait for me."

"What more is there to say? I’m going to war with Organization X; I don’t want to make it difficult for you, so please don’t make it difficult for me." Gu Fan’s words carried distrust towards Helen, treating her as if she were the enemy.

Helen quickened her pace, finally catching up to Gu Fan, then grabbed his arm, "Gu Fan, listen to me, you’re really green for a financial war with Organization X; you have no chance of winning."

"So what? You want me to surrender without a fight, to sell the old house to you?" Gu Fan looked visibly upset.

Helen tried to persuade him kindly, "Don’t you always want to live peacefully? You don’t need to be enemies with Organization X; just give them what they want, and besides, my grandfather and your parents have discussed it, selling the old house isn’t impossible."

"What? The meeting between second granduncle and my parents wasn’t just to catch up but for this?" Gu Fan clenched his teeth in anger, unable to accept it.

Helen added, "Gu Fan, have you ever thought about it? So many events in your life have been influenced by the Destiny Stone; if you don’t rid yourself of the Destiny Stone, you’ll never return to a normal life."

Hearing this, Gu Fan felt there was some truth to it but still felt Helen was trying to deceive him, so he emphasized, "Helen, go and tell your grandfather that he made such a big sacrifice in the past for the Gu family to own the old house and now he’s doing this, causing the Gu family to lose the old house, what’s the point? If second granduncle thinks he can face the Gu family afterward, then let him go ahead."

"Also, I want to make one thing clear. I don’t like threats. Since Organization X wants the Gu family’s old house, they should take it on merit. Although I’m a novice in finance and can’t compete with Organization X, it doesn’t mean I’ll definitely lose." After saying this, Gu Fan didn’t look back at Helen again and walked away angrily.
