"Alright, for the sake of friendship and because I do like intelligence, I agree to fight side by side with you. But to join you? That’s out of the question. I am a person who cherishes freedom, who prefers to do things my own way. I don’t appreciate being told to do something I don’t want to do," the hunter replied, leaving his friend with nothing more to say.

The friend tried again, "If you know the reason these vampires have come to the city, you must tell me."

"Okay, if I know, I will definitely tell you," the hunter said, though he was inwardly puzzled. Zhuo Hang was now the head of the Special Investigation Team, and he would know why the vampires came to this city. Why then had Huang Hang remained silent? Was it a deliberate concealment?

Since Zhuo Hang wasn’t talking, the hunter didn’t want to either, because once he did, it would not only expose Gu Fan but also Lin Xi.

However, the hunter wasn’t aware that the affairs involving Su Hui, Gu Fan, and Lin Xi had already been exposed. Members of the Special Investigation Team knew that Gu Fan and Su Hui had been to the outer realms, to Yuxueyun Mountain, and knew that the big boss was tough to deal with. The higher-ups were simply unaware of Lin Xi’s identity as the reincarnation of Queen Qianye.

Zhuo Hang had also concealed some facts. He hadn’t reported that the vampires and Organization X had followed Gu Fan to the city, nor that Gu Fan had possession of the space-time door. Otherwise, if those higher up knew, they would have long dispatched people to take the space-time door from Gu Fan.

Thus, the Special Investigation Team still didn’t understand why the vampires and Organization X had come to the city.

Although Zhuo Hang helped in keeping things under wraps, others still managed to stumble upon some clues that pointed directly at Gu Fan and Su Hui.

The Special Investigation Team discovered during Su Hui’s leave of absence that chaos had erupted in a city abroad, and according to the intelligence collected, vampires had appeared during the turmoil, and it seemed that a beautiful Eastern woman was involved.

Since the affairs in the outer realms and Yuxueyun Mountain, along with the elimination of the big boss’s forces, the Special Investigation Team had been keeping tabs on Gu Fan and Su Hui. So when the vampires came to the city, the team managed to trace the evidence back to Gu Fan based on various leads.

Luckily, Gu Fan had been living an ordinary life recently, working during the day, sleeping at night, no different from any average person.

The friend brought Jian Shen to a warehouse, where the Special Investigation Team was gathered, with plenty of information stored there.

Under the friend’s guidance, the hunter smoothly passed the inspection and entered the basement of the warehouse, meeting many members of the Special Investigation Team, including their leader, Zhuo Hang.

The two men exchanged a glance and immediately recognized each other, both bringing forth their imposing presence, neither wanting to be outdone.

"Do you two know each other?" The friend was surprised, feeling there was no need for introductions.

The hunter and Zhuo Hang didn’t answer but shook hands with each other, each exerting stealthy strength. Their auras continued to climb, and a palpable Qi filled the air, causing astonishment and prompting others to keep their distance.

"My god, so impressive. This is my first time seeing someone who can match Zhuo Hang," exclaimed some who had never seen the hunter before.

Liu Hui, Hu Hu, Shi Hao, and Yan Bing had seen the hunter before and were aware of his prowess, also hoping that this powerful reinforcement would join; believing with his help, along with Zhuo Hang’s strength, it would be like adding wings to a tiger, with vampires and Organization X being no concern at all.

Eventually, Zhuo Hang and the hunter stopped competing, acknowledging each other’s strength, and with the friend’s introduction, the hunter began to tour the underground warehouse to see how the Special Investigation Team operated.

Many screens meticulously monitored various airports, train stations, arterial routes, and some public spaces. And with face recognition, they could easily locate anyone they were searching for.

Among the Special Investigation Team’s most critical tracking targets were Gu Fan, Lin Xi, and Su Hui. Should they appear on the surveillance screens, the monitors would automatically alert.

Zhuo Hang wanted to warn Gu Fan to be cautious in their actions, but he didn’t dare to take any reckless steps, for the higher-ups had begun to suspect him as well. While Zhuo Hang kept an eye on Gu Fan, the informers within the Special Investigation Team were also watching Zhuo Hang.

At this point, Zhuo Hang could only hope for Gu Fan and Su Hui to find their luck; the best would be to live peacefully without raising any commotion, but Zhuo Hang knew that was impossible.

What worried Zhuo Hang even more was that after the vampires and Organization X came to the city, they hadn’t left. The space-time door had been destroyed, and David alone couldn’t recreate it. These folks had no reason to stay, unless they had discovered something of value in the city.

"Whatever you plan to do, I will stop you," Zhuo Hang silently vowed, filled with confidence in himself.

The hunter only wanted to exterminate the vampires and to protect Lin Xi. He had no interest in anything else.

Suddenly, a loud bang resounded, and the warehouse door was blasted open by a brute force, stunning everyone present.

A figure strode in with hands clasped behind their back, wearing a mask, their eyes filled with a solemn intent to kill, a chilling murderous aura.
