Chapter 1005: Chapter 105: The Quarrel Between the Two

Having arrived at a safe place, the mysterious masked man set Su Hui down. She was limping, standing with difficulty, let alone walking.

The kind-hearted masked man helped Su Hui over to a rock so she could sit down.

Su Hui said thank you, "May I ask the name of the hero who rescued me? I would like to repay you in the future."

"No need to repay me. Just avoid running around and causing me trouble," the masked man said coldly, upsetting Su Hui, "What do you mean running around? What do you mean causing you trouble?"

Without answering, the masked man said, "This place is safe, they won’t find it anytime soon. You better rest well. When it gets light, we’ll go our separate ways."

Seeing the masked man turn away, Su Hui felt anxious, "Who exactly are you, and why do you want to help me?"

"There are some things you are better off not knowing," the masked man replied, not wishing to say more, which made Su Hui even more upset. Fine, if you don’t bother with me, I won’t bother with you either.

Thus, Su Hui stopped talking and turned her back to the masked man.

The masked man, with his hands behind his head, half-lying against a tree, seemed amused by Su Hui’s sulking and couldn’t help but mutter, "Always like this."

After a while, the day broke and Su Hui woke up to find the masked man gone. She felt annoyed, "What the heck, I thought he was a good person, but it turns out he’s just like that, abandoning a beautiful woman like me in the wilderness. I bet this guy is definitely single."

A cough interrupted Su Hui’s words, and she chuckled a few times, turning back to greet, "You’re back, my lifesaver. Where did you go so early? I was so worried about you."

"No need to worry. Just curse me less," the masked man replied, handing Su Hui some fruits. It turned out he had gone to pick fruits.

Hungry, Su Hui’s eyes lit up at the sight of the fruits. Quickly taking them, she savored the taste and commented, "Although you wear a mask and act mysteriously like you’re not a good person, you do sometimes show your good side."

Hearing this, the masked man felt as if his goodwill was wasted, then remarked, "Alright, try walking a few steps. If you are okay, I’ll leave since I have other things to do."

Su Hui moved her ankle and realized it was not severely hurt, giving a grateful look.

The masked man said indifferently, "Well then, I’ll stop being concerned for you, but considering that I saved your life last night, could you promise me one thing?"

"What is it? If I do it, will we be even?" Su Hui’s words nearly made the masked man roll his eyes; he had never seen someone so good at bargaining.

"The thing I want you to do is simple, do not search for Lu Bei and Jin Yi. I know with your abilities you definitely can, but now is not the time," the masked man’s words stunned Su Hui. How did he know her plans to find Lu Bei and Jin Yi?

Su Hui shook her head, "I’m sorry, but I must go to them, because only they know where my friend is."

"Trust me, you will find your friend, but the timing isn’t right," the masked man insisted, igniting Su Hui’s curiosity, prompting her to counter, "Strange, how do you know I want to find Lu Bei and Jin Yi? And why are you so sure I can find my friend? Who exactly are you?"

"Who I am is not important. What’s important is that you listen to me," the masked man asserted firmly, a stance that Su Hui didn’t appreciate, leading her to retort firmly, "Sorry, but I am still going to find Lu Bei and Jin Yi. That’s not up to you."

Upon hearing this, the masked man became annoyed and his tone grew harsher, "What will you do if I insist on stopping you?"

"I don’t care; go ahead and try to stop me, but I will find my friend." After saying this, Su Hui walked past the masked man with a resolute expression.

As if provoked, the masked man became infuriated and turned around, charging at Su Hui with a punch.

"What, he’s actually attacking?" Immediately bracing herself, Su Hui tried to block, but the punch was too powerful. Unable to fend it off, she was sent flying into a tree.

Experiencing the masked man’s strength firsthand was truly terrifying. Su Hui’s arms and legs trembled, and if not for the tree behind her, she would have collapsed to the ground.

Su Hui couldn’t understand how a person so amiable just a moment ago could change so drastically, and with such a murderous look.

The masked man walked towards Su Hui, the murderous look in his eyes undiminishing. He spoke in a cold tone, "You’ve always been like this, never following my heart. Whether in the future or in the past, why can’t you do things my way? So many things wouldn’t have happened. This is all your fault."

Although Su Hui didn’t understand what he meant, she was adamant by nature and intended to persist.

Seeing Su Hui’s stubbornness only infuriated the masked man further, "Why do you always make things difficult for me? Why won’t you trust me? Why do you always think you are right, and I am wrong?" The man’s words grew angrier, filled with resentment as if he had many grievances with Su Hui, and his murderous look grew even more terrifying.

Feeling the pressure and breaking out in a cold sweat calmed Su Hui down. Knowing that she couldn’t win and shouldn’t provoke him further, she quickly decided to soften her stance, "Alright, alright, I’ll listen to you, let’s talk this out nicely."

Seeing Su Hui’s pleading manner, the masked man was momentarily taken aback as if he hadn’t expected it, then his murderous intent vanished completely.

"That’s right, this is how it should be. You need to trust what I say and do it, then we will have no conflicts," the masked man seemed satisfied that he had made Su Hui submit, then walked over and grabbed her arm to check her injuries, worried that his punch was too hard.

From being terrifyingly murderous to incredibly gentle, the masked man almost seemed like two different people. Su Hui had never met someone like this.

Su Hui pondered the words of the masked man, thinking about what he said about the future, about the past. What did all this imply?
