Chapter 595: End of the Devil Hunt
God King Herakles’s words determined the fate of the remaining devils. Even if he stayed silent, God Queen Tlaloc would not have allowed the devils to remain and pollute the Nahui Ollin System.
The god king did not take further action. First, the points earned from killing the divine-level devil were more than enough to secure first place, no matter what the other pantheons did. Second, he would offend the other pantheons if he continued to slay devils. The points might not matter to the Herakles System, but for other pantheons, it could still determine their final rankings. It was not worth offending the other pantheons just for a higher end score.
The cloud-colored skin on the giant disappeared, replaced by a healthy bronze. The mist-like hair turned solid black once more, becoming lush and mane-like. Though, electric currents still occasionally streaked through. The god king’s size was also reduced until he was only three meters tall. Still a giant of a man, but not a true giant.
God King Herakles crossed his arms and watched the demigods eliminate the devils. God Queen Tlaloc also no longer directly killed any devil. Instead, she exerted her influence on Nahui Ollin to bind the devils so that the demigods had an even greater advantage: weakening the devils and decreasing the risks for the demigods.
Tianyi also let up. Compared to the benefits of a higher rank, the Immortal Court planned to profit more from his cross-universe teleportation portals. Not to mention that their ranking had moved up several places thanks to the sheer amount that he killed. Compared to the other pantheons, the Immortal Court had pierced the deepest into the Mictlan.
Although Tianyi stopped, the other immortals continued to fight. For them, this was a rare chance to earn contribution points and sharpen themselves. After this, who knows how long it would be until another chance like this came? Especially with God Queen Tlaloc’s suppression of the devils.
It took another few months, but the last bastion of the devils was completely erased from Nahui Ollin. In this period, only one other divinity arrived, God King Thor. Unlike God King Herakles, God King Thor intervened in the battle between demigods and devils. His actions allowed him to raise the Thorson System’s rank from third to a solid second.
Aside from God King Thor, no other divinities appeared. They must have judged that it was pointless to come since Herakles had already slain the divine-level devil. They hadn’t traveled as far as the god king of the Thorson System, so they turned around.
Naturally, God Queen Tlaloc hosted a banquet to entertain the guests. It was not just a mere banquet, but a grand system-wide celebration that would become a tradition for generations to come.
God Queen Tlaloc announced the start of the celebration by summoning a system-wide rainfall. The rain wasn’t simply water, but wine. Mortals who bathed in the wine droplets would feel their injuries heal and any symptoms of illness vanish.
Not just the people, but the land became more verdant. Even the ground ravaged by devilish corruption became cleaner. Although it would not completely purify the land and allow it to return to its previous uncorrupted state, it got the ball rolling.
The mortals danced and sang under the wine-rain. The bonfires they lit did not extinguish under the rainfall, but burned even brighter. This celebration increased and stabilized the faith of the countless mortals of the Nahui Ollin System. Their prayers coated Tenochtitlan in a golden hue, making it resemble the fabled city of gold, El Dorado.
Inside the divine temple, Tianyi picked up his cup of fruit wine and took a sip. He glanced next to him to see a servant filling up his wife’s cup for the umpteenth time.
“How is it, do you like Nahui Ollin’s alcohol?”
Nahui Ollin’s wine originated from fermented sap from the maguey plant. It was first called octil, but was now known as pulque. Many other types of alcohol became common in time, but pulque remained the most popular because of its sacred significance.
Often, the only time people could drink it was during festivals of religious significance and only for small amounts. Getting drunk on it was a sign of disrespect to the gods, so each person could only drink a limited amount.
However, this prohibition was lifted for this celebration.
“It has a unique flavor I haven’t tasted before, and its texture is very unique,” Daoyi said.
Tianyi nodded in agreement, but he didn’t like it that much. Hence, he switched to fruit wine.
“Lord Nine Heavens, why don’t you drink a bit more? Today, getting drunk doesn’t matter. Drink as much as you like,” a third person interjected, scooting in front of Tianyi.
She was undoubtedly a beautiful woman with a healthy tan and luscious black hair. She was a mortal, but she exuded a slight air of divinity.
“I’m fine. I’m not actually that big of a fan of alcohol,” Tianyi said, forcing himself not to lean back from the overly closeness.
“How can that be? All great heroes in Olympus are great drinkers. Someone as great as you must be able to drink with the best of them, perhaps even the gods themselves!” a blond-haired and blue-eyed woman said, also joining.
Tianyi forced a smile. He had already known that many of them were eyeing, but none of them made the first move. After Nahui Ollin’s demigod approached him, it was like opening the floodgates.
None of them openly spoke of their admiration of him or of their intentions, but they could not hide the look in their eyes. Everyone of them wanted to get him drunk and perhaps inherit his bloodline.
For most systems, talent was inherited through ichor, divine blood. Even if the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System was different, they still had a chance to inherit Tianyi’s ability or talent if they bore his descendant, didn’t they?
However, Tianyi stood firm and did not drink too much. That is, until Hyllus came over and slung his arm over Tianyi’s shoulder. “Men who can’t drink aren’t men. Come on, look at your wife. You’re not going to tell me that you can’t drink more than her, right?”
Unhelpfully, Daoyi hid her smile behind her cup and continued to enjoy the show.
Tianyi gritted his teeth. “Okay, okay. You all like to drink, right? I’ll drink with anyone who dares to toast me.”
Upon hearing this, Hyllus smiled. Although he knew that he could not replicate Tianyi’s slaughtering of the devils, he was confident in his alcohol tolerance. He even tied with a divinity in a drinking contest. “Okay! You better not cheat and secretly eliminate the alcohol in your body.”
At their level, they had to prevent their bodies from resisting the alcohol to allow themselves to be drunk. Of course, divine-level alcohol was a different story. It might not be effective against divinities, but it could definitely make demigods drunk.
“Don’t worry, I’ll regurgitate all the alcohol I drank if I have to,” Tianyi said. He narrowed his eyes and stared at everyone with sinister intentions. Getting drunk? Even if all the divinities got drunk, he would never get drunk.
“Cheers!” Hyllus said as he clinked his cup against Tianyi’s before downing it in one go. Tianyi mirrored his action.
Once Tianyi got drunk, it would be much easier to lure him with beauties to spread his bloodline. Unfortunately, even after hundreds of cups, Tianyi did not even look tipsy, while Hyllus’s face had already flushed red.
“No more, no more.” Hyllus hiccuped and placed his cup down. “If I drink anymore, I’m going to drown in alcohol. You guys continue. I’m going to rest a bit.”
After Hyllus retreated, the others did not give up. No matter how great Tianyi’s alcohol tolerance was, could he out drink everyone? The answer—as it turned out—was yes.
Hundreds of demigods lay sprawled on the floor around Tianyi’s table. The downed demigods had flush faces, dazed gazes, and even drool leaking out from a few of their mouths.
Hyllus lay among the defeated. He had returned with jars of ambrosia, intent on getting Tianyi drunk even if he had to fall during the process. His hopes were forever dashed as Tianyi calmly sat in his seat with nary a hint of flush on his cheeks.
Tianyi calmly picked his wine cup and took another sip before glancing disdainfully upon his downed foes.
He was broken out of his state by bell-like giggles. He turned to see a flushed Daoyi leaning a cheek on her palm and staring at him. Her pupils were dilated, and it was clear that she was drunk. Not to the point of losing cognition of the world, but it wasn’t far off either.
“Awesome. I should make you my drinking buddy in the future.”
Tianyi sighed and poked Daoyi in the forehead. Her body swayed a bit, as if she was trying to steady herself, but soon, she collapsed. She fell forward and into Tianyi’s embrace.
‘Now, there won’t be a blind fool that will try to interrupt my intimate moment, right?’ Tianyi thought as he smiled gently at the sleeping Daoyi.
At the main seat where four divinities sat, Herakles clicked his tongue. “Hyllus, that child is still too immature. I’ll make sure he can drink ten thousand jars of Ambrosia once he gets back.”
All four of them were paying attention to Tianyi. Although God King Herakles’s finishing blow was the highlight moment, Tianyi’s contribution still caught many eyes.
“I think your son is already good. Look at Tenochtitlan. If he drank the same amount, he would have long fallen drunk,” God Queen Tlaloc said, glancing at her ‘son,’ who was cradling a wine jug while snoring.
Thor laughed victoriously. “My son can drink circles around your sons.”
Herakles snorted. “Once Hyllus becomes a god, he will be able to out drink your sons.”
“Impossible.”
“Then let’s have a contest,” Herakles said. “When Hyllus attains godhood, he will have a drinking competition with your son.”
“Hmpf, don’t cry wolf when you lose,” Thor said.
God Queen Tlaloc sighed at the two drunkards. But at least they weren’t fighting.
Soon, the banquet ended. All the pantheons left the Nahui Ollin System and returned to their own home systems. Soon, another All Pantheon Conference would be convened in order to hold a tournament between the divinities of the top ranking systems in the devil hunting competition.
The only exception was the Immortal Court. Tianyi’s conduit stayed behind along with a thousand immortals, as an embassy would be built here to facilitate diplomatic relationships between the Immortal Court and the Nahui Ollin System. Of course, the main concern was Tianyi’s cross-universe teleportation ability.
Not just the Nahui Ollin System. In fact, the other systems had also discussed building an embassy in their system and stationing one of Tianyi’s conduits there. Although they ironed out most of the details, the other systems were not yet ready to welcome Tianyi.
Although Tianyi’s cross-universe teleportation would bring about a lot of convenience, it also represented a large risk. Hence, they wanted to build a location that could restrict Tianyi’s portals in case they ever turned into enemies.
Still, that was a matter for the Immortal Court ten thousand years later. Unlike the other systems, the Immortal Court returned almost immediately to the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System thanks to Tianyi.
All the immortals recuperated and healed their injuries. With their experiences hunting devils and the wealth they earned, the immortals of the Immortal Court strengthened themselves. Many entered the Seamless Immortal Realm, causing numerous Dao Manifestations to appear.
Less public were the breakthroughs to the Extremity Immortal Realm. Compared to the new immortal monarchs, the new immortal emperors numbered only a few. There was even one new immortal sovereign.
Once the gains were digested, the Immortal Court moved into action once more. It was time to become the sole hegemon of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System.
