Chapter 98 - 91 Trial of Flower

Chapter 98: Chapter 91 Trial of Flower

Nightmare creatures are actually a special type of two-dimensional lifeforms.

Two-dimensional lifeforms are fundamentally different from normal life.

For example, a monster drawn on a child’s doodle, in the eyes of normal people, belongs to part of the drawing. From a perspective outside the drawing, one merely needs to tear up the paper, and the creatures within it will be destroyed along with it.

But to the heroes within the drawing, or to those who live in the doodle world, the monster is a very real Demon King, and as long as the paper isn’t destroyed, it can use the pattern on the paper as an "anchor" to come to the real world time and again...

If one were to cross the boundary between three and two dimensions, bringing life to this two-dimensional monster, then it becomes a special two-dimensional lifeform, a mysterious being that possesses both immense intrigue and extreme fragility at the same time.

If one finds the right method to contain them, perhaps killing them would be as easy as a child casually tearing up a piece of paper, or an ordinary person could easily destroy a two-dimensional creature of a Formal Wizard’s level.

However, if one cannot find a way to contain them, then they will become incredibly troublesome, potentially killing and reappearing in reality again and again, emerging at the least expected moments.

This type of enemy may not be the strongest, but they are most certainly the most difficult to deal with.

And now, this particular nightmare being, Adeline, had set her sights on me.

"Forget it, I’ll play it by ear. It’s just a weak nightmare creature at the level of a Third-level Wizard Apprentice; at most, it will cause me some trouble."

From the traces at hand, Adeline seemed to have infiltrated deep into the Dream Layer, and currently, I lack the means to penetrate the Dream Layer for an attack.

Lucien, after releasing his spiritual power and probing to no avail, finally gave up this meaningless act.

However, the atmosphere within the mixed group had become somewhat subtle after the episodes involving Lilia and Adeline.

Especially those half-fairies, their glances towards the Wizard Apprentices now contained a hint of obscure murderous intent; many of them looked towards the Fairy leader as though they were waiting for a combat command.

In the eyes of these half-fairies, Lilia – who had been the most troublesome and peculiar opponent during the previous battles – had now disappeared. And now was the perfect opportunity to deal with the human Wizard Apprentices.

Besides, we were now very close to the buildings inside Cloud Country, and perhaps upon entering the structure, we would reach the core of the secret realm, inevitably leading to a fierce conflict for control.

Rather than having the conflict at the core of the secret realm, it would be better to deal with these potential threats right now.

The Fairy leader, however, did not make any rash moves like the other half-fairies. She looked at Lucien with even more wariness, and after pausing for a good while, she reached out her hand to Lucien, signaling that he should fulfill his recent promise.

Lucien looked at the Fairy leader and with a wave of his hand, a badge flew towards her.

The Fairy leader solemnly received the badge, and nodded slightly towards Lucien as a gesture of thanks.

But the next moment, Lucien felt a subtle spiritual fluctuation trying to contact his spiritual power in a special way, and this spiritual force originated from the Fairy leader beside him.

"Powerful human Wizard, I can sense the overwhelming vitality of your spiritual power, and I do not feel any special Bloodline in you. Our needs inside the ruins should be different, perhaps we can engage in a mutually beneficial cooperation..."

Lucien glanced calmly at the Fairy leader, who didn’t seem to take any special action, realizing that she felt she couldn’t deal with him and had turned to negotiate and seek an alliance.

Indeed, he didn’t need a Fairy baptism nor did he require a Fairy Bloodline to aid his practice. But given the conditions, Lucien would naturally not give up the chance to help Carly fight for such an opportunity.

After all, although half-fairies and fairies differ only by a single word, their potential is worlds apart.

"Lady Maelbely, it’s still too early to talk about this since I do not know what kind of items or magical plants are hidden within the core of the secret realm," Lucien fobbed off with a noncommittal answer.

But he knew that she was bluffing him as well.

After all, the idea of using one person’s baptism to break a curse afflicting an entire race is practically impossible.

"Then let’s wait some more," Maelbely seemed to accept Lucien’s vague explanation but then her glance drifted nonchalantly towards Carly. Afterwards, she made a gesture to the half-fairies behind her, and immediately the group quieted down again.

"Lord Lucien," Gagarin approached Lucien humbly, bowing his head and speaking with unusual modesty, "if there’s anything you require of me later on, please feel free to command."

Gagarin was very clear about his current situation.

Unlike Carly or the two surviving students from Bennett’s side, Gagarin, as one of Lilia’s "remnants", needed a new backer. Even if it meant undertaking the most dangerous tasks, he was willing to do so without hesitation.
