Chapter 257 - 235 Chaos Goblins

Chapter 257: Chapter 235 Chaos Goblins

Rafael’s voice was somewhat hoarse, his gaze deep and melancholic.

He looked at Roland, whose pupils were slightly dilated and whose gaze seemed a bit scattered and resentful feelings churned within him.

Even Rafael himself didn’t know where the flaw had crept in this affair, but looking at the results, there seemed to be schemes and surprises lurking in the shadows.

After all, this wasn’t his first time playing the part of Rafael. Although the plot differed slightly each time due to some players’ involvement, he remembered quite clearly the general direction of the story.

"Is it a player probing my ’Dream Master’ identity, or has something leaked from the elder’s side?"

Rafael also felt a surge of panic. If this was only targeting him, then the situation wasn’t too dire, but if his mistake led to any flaws in the elder’s plan... that was a consequence he could not bear.

He had to deal with everything before the elder discovered the issue!

Soon, Rafael’s mind flashed with several names—those who had directly or indirectly dealt with Jina’s affair. However, these fellows were all in the capital, and his current mission to the northern Demon Nest was critical. For the moment, he had no solutions unless he could contact his senior brothers for help...

Rafael squinted his eyes and stared at the cool and tall figure of Roland in front of him, his gaze turning vicious and fierce. However, his voice became even gentler, as the faint mist emanating from the stone sphere made his face seem to flicker in and out of the light. "Sister Roland, I need you to do something for me."

"What is it?" Hercules’s voice was a bit sluggish, but his expression remained exceptionally calm.

"Deal with... Army Physician Zenani," Rafael said with a light chuckle. "As the captain of the Knight Order, you must have a way, right?"

"That goes against the Knight Order’s rules and regulations..." Hercules murmured, still not forgetting to stay in character as Roland.

"Just think of it as a favor for me." Rafael’s lips curled up slightly, but his eyes relaxed their vigilance when he looked at Hercules.

"For... little... Rafael?" Hercules’s temples bulged slightly, but he still suppressed the anger in his heart and continued to play along with Rafael’s act.

"Yes, and besides, Sister Roland, I don’t want you to break the Knight Order’s rules. The main reason is that I’ve discovered a secret—Army Physician Zenani is not a true human, but rather... an evil existence parasitized by a particular kind of creature." Rafael locked eyes with Roland.

"You wouldn’t think such evil beings could guard justice, would you?"

"I... I don’t know..." Hercules looked up slightly, trying hard to make his act seem more genuine. His face showed disbelief and conflict as if he were wrestling with a difficult decision internally.

However, it was this very expression that gradually eased Rafael’s suspicions.

He gently persuaded, accompanied by the light green mist from within the stone sphere, gradually helping to "correct" Hercules’s line of thinking, his tone patient and devoid of impatience.

"I... understand, but to deal with Army Physician Zenani, I’ll need to find a reason. Moreover, I’ll investigate the truth in my own way first. I will not wrongly accuse any good person!"

"No problem, you can seek proof from Rafael, as he is the direct witness," Rafael said with a smile, eyeing Roland, now thoroughly entangled in his words, with a touch of smugness.

However, he still harbored a faint sliver of doubt towards this Roland before him. His eyes narrowed slightly, preparing to give Hercules one final test.

"I’ve found..." Hercules tried to act as convincingly as possible. But when he turned to look at Rafael, he was startled to see a lean, short figure appearing above Rafael’s head.

It had a body similar to that of humans, but stood only half a meter tall. Its body showed a greyish-green color, with long, pointed ears dangling at either side of its body and large, blood-red eyes that seemed disproportionally large for its small nose.

The figure grinned, and as its mouth moved in sync with Rafael’s, the same voice came out. "Sister Roland, look, this is the kind of evil creature!"

Hercules’s right hand clenched around his knight’s sword as he stood up, ready for battle.

"Sleep... sleep..." Rafael’s gaze completely relaxed. He grinned, baring his sharp teeth at Hercules, while a peculiar wave of spiritual power imbued with an evil aura attacked Hercules.

"It’s a kind of goblin creature... I seem to have researched this before... Yes, it’s the Grey Mist Goblins from Chaos World!" Hercules’s body swayed as he collapsed, but he felt extremely pleased.

He had recognized the race of Rafael’s true form and, combining this with the information he had previously reviewed, he quickly recalled the Grey Mist Goblins’ capabilities and Racial Talent.

He even had some speculations about the elder that Rafael had mentioned.

"The Racial Talent of Grey Mist Goblins is chaos. Their supreme leaders are either Champ Goblins or goblin priests... capable of manipulating fate to a certain extent. It must be a goblin priest!"

...

"Sister Roland, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading back now..."

Hercules opened his eyes and saw Rafael, who had once again adopted his usual playful demeanor. He nodded gently and waited until Rafael left the tent to retrieve the Communication Magic Cube and send this vital piece of intelligence to Lucien.

"Chaos Goblins?" At night, Lucien looked at the information sent by Hercules, and his expression turned serious.

Because tomorrow he was to visit the Mondok family estate, and then he might encounter Chaos Goblins, possibly even their supreme leader, the Champ Priest.

"Indeed, a peculiar and powerful race..." Lucien studied the information regarding the Chaos Goblins, exhaling slowly.

These alien beings originated from the vast world of chaos, which also housed a top civilization with master-level strongholds. As a major race from the Chaos World, Chaos Goblins were born at Wizard level and, if ascended to a goblin priest or a Champ Priest, directly became beings comparable in might to a Dawn Wizard.

However, their advancement in life was not through cultivating spiritual power as wizards do but relied on various "rituals" or "sacrifices" to please a revered being known as the "Mother of Chaos."

And the prerequisite for all this was to construct an altar for the sacrifice to the Mother of Chaos!
