Chapter 192: Chapter 171: Divine Spirits, Dominator
"Gods?" Lucien blinked, aware as a transmigrator of what deities were, yet he was curious why the concept of gods would exist in this transcendent world of wizards.
"Gods?" To Carly, this term seemed somewhat unfamiliar. She blinked and looked towards Lucien, hoping to get an answer from her mentor.
Lucien, however, smiled awkwardly. Although he was not unfamiliar with the word deity, he was also unsure if the so-called deities in this world matched his own impressions of what a god was.
"Humph humph humph, deities are a general term for a major realm in the Star Sea, roughly corresponding to the levels between a Fourth-level Wizard and a Level 6 Wizard in your Wizard World," said Count Sanaxis with a couple of boastful remarks, mocking Lucien and Carly’s lack of knowledge before he finally explained the definition of deities as their patience reached its limit.
"Only... Fourth-level Wizards?" Carly was a bit confused, feeling that the term deity seemed to carry a lofty significance, so why did it translate to such a low level when converted to wizard ranks?
"What do you mean ’only’?" Count Sanaxis was somewhat displeased, muttering, "According to some world’s cultivation systems, your so-called Wizard Apprentices would barely be considered enlightened, and the stages between a First-level Wizard and a Level 3 Wizard would only be seen as ordinary professions to the limits of a mortal. The transition from a Level 3 Wizard to a Fourth-level Wizard is the real metamorphosis, where a person transforms into a god."
"Even if the Nightmare World had not perished..."
"In short, the shift from Level 3 to 4 is a hurdle, and from Level 6 to 7 is an even greater hurdle," the voice of Count Sanaxis echoed softly, "The former requires you to use special methods to open up a semi-plane of your own, while the latter requires you to continually refine your semi-plane and ultimately elevate it into a complete major world."
"Nightmare World? Perished?" Lucien was a bit dazed upon hearing this term.
But obviously, Count Sanaxis wasn’t willing to reveal these secrets, hence why he quickly shut his mouth after speaking too fast.
"So what I just saw... were they two major worlds? No, that seems unlikely; perhaps two semi-planes, but I don’t know why they would be squeezing against each other, even merging together," Lucien quickly formulated a hypothesis in his mind.
"How do you know this information?" Carly, on the other hand, captured the most crucial question. She looked at Count Sanaxis, her eyes filled with confusion.
"Um, this..." Count Sanaxis started stammering and then said somewhat sheepishly, "Well, you know, this great one is omniscient..."
Carly: Stare...
"This great one has a friend..."
"Alright, if he doesn’t want to talk about it, let it be," Lucien stopped Carly’s fists which were itching for action, then smiled at Count Sanaxis. "However, if there’s anything you want our help with in the future, feel free to speak up."
"Psh, as if this great one would lack anything... Besides, I’m not afraid of her, a mere elf with pointy ears," Count Sanaxis snorted, unwilling to lose face in the argument.
"Then... what are Level 7 Wizards called in the Star Sea?" Lucien looked at Count Sanaxis, who seemed to have more on his mind, and asked a question he was very curious about.
"Supreme Gods, or call them Dominators," Count Sanaxis said solemnly, "These powerful beings are worlds unto themselves, possessing the terrifying power to directly destroy a world. Only a cultivation system guarded by beings of such level deserves to be termed ’civilization’."
"Destroy worlds?" Carly’s eyes widened.
"Hmph, you can’t even begin to imagine the methods of that level," Count Sanaxis spoke heavily.
"Perhaps, by the time they truly make their move, none of you would notice. I have witnessed the destruction of a world. Under that being’s manipulation, the world that once produced a Dominator was, unbeknownst to anyone, transferred step by step into the world of His book, where they lived for nearly a thousand years."
"From the deities of Level 6 Wizards down to the most common creatures, none had the slightest perception, and in His writings, all of this was merely described in one sentence: ’A thousand years passed...’ And the destruction of that world was just a casual stroke of His pen when He grew tired, much like how some irresponsible authors hastily conclude their stories."
"This... this..." Carly listened to Count Sanaxis’s description, feeling goosebumps all over her body.
The entire world silently overtaken by a fictitious world of the pen?
Living nearly a thousand years within the world of the pen?
A single sentence, and the world is destroyed?
After hearing Count Sanaxis’s narration, Carly even started to doubt the reality of the world she was in. She pinched her arm hard and, only after feeling the pain, did she let out a sigh of relief.
"Stop overthinking it. With the way you are now, that being wouldn’t even bother to lift a pen for you. After all, others might only need a moment to breathe, and you would have naturally aged." Count Sanaxis looked at Carly, who was now questioning her life, and couldn’t help but give a slight jab.
"Whew..." Carly let out a sigh of relief but soon felt that Count Sanaxis’s words seemed to be implying something about her, and she couldn’t help but clench her teeth tightly.
"Don’t think too much about it. That level is indeed too far away from us. Instead of worrying about that, you should focus on how to improve your Bloodline and reach the realm of a Formal Wizard as soon as possible." Lucien held Carly back just as she was on the brink of blowing up, and at the same time, his heart couldn’t help but feel shock at the strength of beings at that level.
"Then do you know what the burning mark on Carly’s palm represents, Count Sanaxis?" Lucien, after calming his spirit a little and taking a few deep breaths, then looked at Count Sanaxis, who had become lazy again.
"It’s simple. The privilege she received has been invaded to a certain extent," said Count Sanaxis very casually. "All you need to do is find the guy who invaded the privilege and deal with it. Then the problem is solved. Yeah, it’s that simple."
The corner of Lucien’s mouth twitched.
Following Count Sanaxis’s logic, there would be nothing difficult in this world. After all, it seemed that everything could be "simplified" in this way.
But the problem was that the guy who invaded the privilege must be a powerful Wizard, and he must have something like a token or a "key" in his hand; otherwise, he would not have the power and conditions to invade the half-plane.
A Wizard with such strength was probably at least a Second-level Wizard, definitely not someone Carly and he could deal with at the moment. As for dealing with it? That was even more impossible!
"Stop overthinking things. Besides, didn’t you do the right thing before, elf ears? Just directly use the privilege granted by the half-plane to refuse him. After all, you can’t beat him," Count Sanaxis added after glancing at Carly.
Hearing this comment from Count Sanaxis, Carly and Lucien fell silent.
"However, you still have a chance. After all, you’ve obtained some authority over that half-plane. Even if he can enter the half-plane, he would definitely be in a suppressed state. With the reinforcement from the half-plane, your strength will surely be enhanced. Maybe with some effort, you could actually win," he continued.
"Moreover, it’s very difficult for someone to invade the half-plane against your resistance, unless they are at the level of a Deity. Even if they manage to succeed, it will definitely require a long time to prepare and attempt. Although I’m not very optimistic about you, elf ears, maybe you’re the one who has that dog’s luck," Count Sanaxis added casually as he sprawled onto his grape throne.
Though his tone was still a bit mocking, it did offer a degree of comfort.
"Time, huh?" Lucien thought about the spiritual power backlash he suffered from just peeping into the half-plane, nodding deeply in agreement.
He had just been disturbed by a mere "wave" and experienced significant backlash. If someone tried to invade the half-plane, the counteraction they would face would be much more severe than what he had just endured.
That would be a countermeasure from a higher-level wizard. While it might be instinctual defense, it certainly wasn’t something that could be easily broken by Level 2 or 3 Wizards.
For Carly and himself, if they didn’t want to lose control over that half-plane, they would need to use the "safe time" while the other party was trying to break into the half-plane to increase their own strength as quickly as possible.
"If we’re not strong enough by then, we’ll just have to abandon that half-plane..." Lucien exhaled softly, calming down quite a bit after realizing the worst possible outcome. Then, he turned to Carly, who still looked quite serious, and gently ruffled her head. "Alright, instead of worrying about it so much, it’s better to focus on improving your strength."
"I understand, Instructor Lucien!" Carly nodded lightly, then quickly stood up and ran outside, "Then I’m off to work hard!"
Lucien watched Carly leave and then stood in front of the bed in his office, looking at Greybone Academy, which now had a new vibe, with a hint of satisfaction in his eyes.
"I still need to solve the parasite issue with the Hell Blood Serpent sooner rather than later. Otherwise, as my spiritual power increases, the seal will weaken, and it might even allow the Hell Blood Serpent to awake prematurely..." Lucien pinched the bridge of his nose.
But soon, he let out a sigh of frustration. Just like Carly had guessed, he lacked sufficient understanding of Physical Refining Wizards. Even with the system’s help, Edison’s progress was not as fast as he had hoped, which irritated Lucien somewhat.
Maybe, he thought, he should get in touch with more knowledge about Physical Refining Wizards...
Lucien pondered, and soon he thought of a wizard organization: Winter Fort.
