Chapter 177 - 157: Punishment, Meditation Method

Chapter 177: Chapter 157: Punishment, Meditation Method

Golden thunder, terrifying oppression, and the nearby Wizard Luotu vanished in an instant, causing Carly to break out in a cold sweat as she also felt a surge of surprise.

But soon she saw her mentor, Lucien, in the crowd. In front of him floated a strange card, and inside the card, she could see two figures fighting each other.

One was a girl in a red dress holding a doll, her movements ghostly, sometimes splitting into seven to entangle her opponent, other times transforming into a terrifying monster to launch an assault. The other figure was shrouded in thunder and continuously manipulated mechanical devices to defend and counterattack. Their fierce battle was confined within the small, flat space of the card, giving the impression of watching a hot-blooded battle animation.

The Formal Wizards who weren’t present wouldn’t think this scene was heated; instead, it sent shocks and chills through their hearts.

It needs to be known that one of those suddenly pulled into the card was the Second-level Wizard Luotu, a notably strong competitor even among other Second-level Wizards.

Yet now he had been abruptly captured into a card without warning and even encountered an opponent inside who could match him in a short time.

What was even more shocking to these Formal Wizards was that all this was caused by Lucien, a First-level Wizard who had been promoted not long ago.

Recalling the recent scene at Greybone Academy where Lucien powerfully suppressed Helen Wizard—who had advanced to a nightmare creature of the second level—a lot of Formal Wizards were alarmed and equated Lucien with a half Second-level Wizard.

Bang! With a soft noise, Wizard Luotu escaped from the card space. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, clearly showing he had suffered a disadvantage during his recent clash with Wizard Helen in his attempt to quickly escape the bizarre card space.

Next to Lucien, the little girl in the red dress also slowly began to reveal herself; her expression was vacant, but the aura she emitted was distinctly that of a Second-level Wizard. Moreover, compared to a normal wizard, the aura that Wizard Helen emitted was even more peculiar, filled with properties characteristic of nightmare creatures.

"This is... Wizard Helen!" Many Formal Wizards widened their eyes, but out of respect for Lucien’s current control over a Second-level Wizard, they dared only whisper, afraid of being affected by their high-level strategic conflict.

Wizard Luotu gave Wizard Helen, who floated beside Lucien, a deep look that flashed with apprehension, but he wasn’t particularly fearful.

After all, in their recent clash, had it not been for Wizard Helen’s home ground advantage and his own rush to escape that space, he was completely confident he could have defeated her. It might have been different if his focus hadn’t been on quickly eliminating Carly, potentially avoiding being moved into that space by Wizard Helen so easily.

Lucien quickly moved Carly behind him while controlling Wizard Helen and confronting Wizard Luotu from afar.

"Enough," said Level 3 Wizard Delatore, who had remained silent until now, slowly beginning to speak as a powerful aura began to envelop Wizard Luotu, partially affecting Lucien and Carly as well.

"Lord Delatore, please forgive me as a poor old man who has just lost his nephew," Wizard Luotu hurriedly bowed, hoping his humility would earn Delatore’s forgiveness.

"Rules are rules," Delatore said calmly, then stretched out a hand.

Whoosh—

Lucien’s vision blurred, and the next moment, Wizard Luotu was caught by a giant energy hand created by Delatore, his face twisted in agony.

The next instant, with a gentle squeeze from the energy hand, Wizard Luotu’s body began to disintegrate irreversibly, collapsing under the hand’s kneading into a pile of scattered metal parts, springs, gears, and fragments flying everywhere.

"Is he... dead?" Lucien was shocked.

"Not really," the nearby Grey Bone Wizard said with a smile while quietly relaying some basic knowledge to Lucien, "It’s just a metal puppet that Luotu guy cooked up. Destroying this puppet, I guess it must really hurt him. Hahaha..."

During the conversation, the Grey Bone Wizard didn’t hide his schadenfreude. However, unlike his previous almost command-like attitude when talking to Lucien, his demeanor now was warmer, his tone more egalitarian, and even his words carried a hint of coaxing.

Now that Lucien held the power of a Second-level Wizard in his hands, to the Grey Bone Wizard, he was truly a "useful ally" worth valuing.

"Mentor Lucien..." Carly still seemed shaken, for at one point, she truly felt she was about to die. Reflecting on it still sent waves of fear and palpitations through her.

"I’ll deal with you when we get back," Lucien glanced at Carly, then looked at the pile of metal parts on the ground, piecing together the information from the Grey Bone Wizard and gaining a newfound understanding of the terrifying power of Third-level Wizards.

Carly stuck her tongue out, but as if she had remembered something, she giggled and then proudly pulled a large bag from her spatial bracelet. From the barely closed opening, one could see several badges shimmering with a metallic luster.

Many Formal Wizards stared wide-eyed at the large bag of badges in Carly’s hands. However, their sparks of interest extinguished when they saw Lucien.

After all, the man before them was really someone they couldn’t afford to provoke!

...

"Fully packed when we set off, yet quite sparse upon returning."

On the way back, Lucien looked at the Wizard Apprentices in the airship, who appeared somewhat thin in number, and shook his head slightly.

It was only after Carly had set up a safety zone in the Mystic Realm that these results were preserved. Otherwise, according to Lucien’s previous estimate, perhaps only 1/10 of the Wizard Apprentices who entered the Blood Duel Mystic Realm would have survived, which would have been quite good.

Even so, the wizard apprentices of Greybone Academy had suffered substantial losses. Including the previous time the academy was besieged, the casualty rate of Greybone Academy’s Wizard Apprentices had already exceeded 65%. It would take several years, or even more than a decade, to gradually recover to the former level.

"Instructor Lucien, what did you exchange the badges for this time?" While Lucien was deep in thought, Carly suddenly popped up beside him with a giggling smile. Although it wasn’t written on her face "Quick, praise me, praise me," her words revolved around the badges, with a clear intent.

Lucien silently extended his hand and grabbed Carly’s somewhat pointed ears compared to those of a normal person, then pinched them gently.

"Ow, ow, ow..." Carly covered her ears, looking quite pitiful.

"Do you think you performed well and were very impressive in the Mystic Realm?" Lucien glanced at Carly, who was pretending to be pitiful, and increased the pressure on his grip slightly in annoyance.

Carly giggled, but she said nothing and did not resist, allowing Lucien’s rebuke to become more and more formalized, until he himself somewhat lost track of what to say.

"Hehehe... I know, Instructor Lucien, next time I will definitely..." The moment Lucien let go, Carly dashed away like a streak of smoke, leaving Lucien frozen in place with a belly full of unasaid words, unsure how to communicate further with Carly.

However, after a brief daze, Lucien couldn’t help but shake his head and laugh.

Later, he took advantage of the time returning to the academy on the airship to take out the new Meditation Method he had exchanged for with his badges.

This was a Meditation Method from Delatore, a Level 3 Wizard, which according to the previous exchange list was sufficient to practice up to the Level 3 Wizard stage, a step above the Greybone Meditation Method circulated within Greybone Academy.

After purchasing this Meditation Method, Lucien could teach it to others or distribute it externally.

Even before this, a Grey Bone Wizard had discussed with him that if Lucien were willing to contribute this Meditation Method to Greybone Academy, he would receive a substantial amount of resources in return.

However, for Lucien, this Meditation Method had a greater use. Although he would also teach it later to the Wizard Apprentices or Formal Wizards of Greybone Academy, it would not be sold directly; rather, it would be used in another way.

For now, what Lucien needed to do was thoroughly learn the Formal Wizard level of this Meditation Method himself to facilitate future teaching and the rollout of a series of plans.

This Meditation Method was called "Starry Sky," a system developed by mimicking the movement patterns of the stars in the sky. According to the description in the Meditation Method, Lucien gained a more detailed understanding of the Formal Wizard level.

To put it simply, once a Wizard Apprentice completed his promotion, his Spirit Sea would shatter, and the materialized Spirit Sea would absorb the fragments of the previous Spirit Sea, establishing a "Void Port" in the void. Through repeated defenses against energy surges, it would continuously purify and eventually condense the port into a very fine "Singularity."

The process for a Level 3 Wizard to ascend to a Fourth-level Wizard involved shattering this meticulously polished Singularity and harnessing the massive spiritual power housed within it to carve out a personal demi-plane of their own.

The process from a First-level Wizard to a Level 3 Wizard was essentially one of continually honing and purifying the Singularity, in which the Meditation Method mainly served as a "whetstone."

As a Meditation Method that could systematically guide a Formal Wizard up to the Level 3 Wizard stage, "Starry Sky" could engage up to 180 spiritual runes to assist in refining spiritual power, with an effect about 50% higher than the twin Bone Snake refining method Lucien had devised himself.

In the plethora of Meditation Methods used by Formal Wizards, this was considered above average.
