Chapter 135: Chapter 117: A Gift, the Hell Blood Serpent
In an elegantly decorated hall, Lucien picked up a feather pen, and with his own blood, signed his name and affixed his Spiritual Imprint onto an ancient stone contract.
"Congratulations,"
"Best wishes,"
The three Wizards witnessing the ceremony smiled, looking at Lucien with added warmth and friendliness in their eyes.
"Lucien, we plan to follow the old tradition and hold an official celebration banquet for you in a month. All the Formal Wizards who can attend will be there..." Wizard Hawson smiled at Lucien.
"By the way, according to the academy’s rules, a newly promoted Formal Wizard will receive a sum of resources from the academy, here is the list..."
As he spoke, Wizard Hawson waved his hand, and immediately a dense array of text appeared out of thin air.
"The Greybone Meditation Method, and three formal witchcraft models collected within the academy..." Lucien’s eyes lit up as he immediately found the knowledge he needed most at the moment.
"Lucien, these resources are what every newly promoted wizard gets," suddenly, Wizard Hawson’s voice appeared beside Lucien’s ear, obviously contacting Lucien silently using some special form of witchcraft.
Lucien’s expression remained unchanged, but he mentally braced himself, understanding the importance of what was to come.
"However, I, Hawson Burnham, am willing to act as your recommender and, together with a few friends, advocate on the committee for you to replace Heli as the head of the plantation zone and also for the management rights of the southern Black Marsh Duchy..."
Lucien’s eyes shone. What Hawson had mentioned was essentially support for him to inherit Heli Wizard’s rights and interests within the academy.
These were all big benefits, capable of producing a continuous stream of resources or Magic Stones, core assets that ordinary newly promoted wizards would find difficult to secure on their own. If converted into Magic Stones, the value would be far greater than the list provided by the academy.
This was undoubtedly a grand gift. Although these were not from Hawson’s own sacrifices, the gesture was nonetheless full of sincerity.
This made Lucien look towards Hawson, and Hawson in return smiled at Lucien as if nothing had happened.
...
"Things really are different now," mused Lucien, sitting in his now spacious laboratory, his eyes reflecting a complex emotion, after all the handover procedures had been completed in the evening.
"Master Lucien, a Third-level Wizard Apprentice has come from outside, saying he is a student of Wizard Gray," Gagarin stood at the door, speaking respectfully.
"Wizard Gray?" Lucien raised an eyebrow slightly, thinking of the giant one-eyed crow, Raven Soros.
Initially, it was after spending a high price of fifteen Magic Stones that he managed to buy the quota to recruit students through this Wizard Gray, a pity that the third-level qualified student he had purchased had defected to Nolian’s side.
"Let him in," Lucien said casually, as this was not his first meeting with representatives or students of Formal Wizards that day.
Presently, a Third-level Wizard Apprentice walked in respectfully and handed Lucien a beautifully packaged gift box. "Lord Lucien, my teacher asked me to come and offer congratulations..."
"A congratulatory gift?"
Lucien paused, then noticed a purple crystal placed inside the gift box.
This crystal was a Purple Patterned Crystal Stone, which could be used to arrange various wizard formations for expelling curses or similar rituals. A palm-sized Purple Patterned Crystal Stone like the one in the box was worth nearly 1500 Magic Stones.
Compared to other congratulatory gifts from Formal Wizards, generally valued between 300 and 500 Magic Stones, Wizard Gray’s gift seemed rather generous.
But Lucien quickly understood the underlying implications; he deduced that Wizard Gray’s gift was likely a form of indirect apology, hoping to settle the unpleasantness that had occurred with Lucien in the past.
Of course, in Wizard Gray’s gift there was also a hint of toughness amidst the appeasement.
After all, by offering a Purple Patterned Crystal Stone used for suppressing curses, he was also subtly indicating to Lucien that he was not as easily pushed around as Wizard Heli had been.
Lucien contemplated briefly, while Wizard Gray’s student stood there, his heart filled with trepidation.
"Thank your teacher for his kindness for me," Lucien finally said, accepting the gift.
After all, he had already signed a contract with Greybone Academy and at least couldn’t act directly against Wizard Gray in violation of the contract. Receiving a Purple Patterned Crystal Stone worth 1500 Magic Stones from Wizard Gray was enough to cause some pain for the Wizard.
As he quickly ushered Wizard Gray’s student out, Lucien frowned slightly, then tore open his sleeve, revealing a Blood Serpent tattoo on his left arm.
This was a parting gift from Wizard Heli, the Blood Serpent appeared to be some kind of living being, parasitizing inside his body, using his flesh as a breeding ground, constantly consuming the life force within to nourish its offspring.
If this continued, the seemingly insignificant Blood Serpent would likely hollow out his body completely.
"This is truly troublesome," Lucien tapped the tabletop lightly.
He had already had an issue with a nightmare entity named Edlin and now he had a parasitic Blood Serpent in his body, and he was unsure if it was a curse or some kind of special life form.
