Chapter 105 - 96 Baptism, Adeline’s Entanglement

Chapter 105: Chapter 96 Baptism, Adeline’s Entanglement

"Hehehe, would you be willing to fix Adeline’s favorite doll for her?"

In a daze, Lucien seemed to see Adeline’s slightly pitiful little face appearing before him.

She stood in front of Lucien, even lifting the cloth doll in her hands, "Lilia says it hurts a lot..."

"Get lost!" Lucien’s consciousness roared, and then the figure of Adeline seemed to vanish in an instant. And he quickly opened his eyes.

All was quiet around him; Adeline did not seem to intend to show herself, instead hiding in some unknown corner.

The statue of the Moon Wolf, Tuso, still stood silently to one side, as if the weird space Lucien had just fallen into and the experiences within it were nothing but his own imagination.

But the pain in the Spirit Sea was very real, even making Lucien feel his body uncontrollably sway as he slowly stood up.

"Ugh." Lucien gently covered his head with his hand and looked around only to find that the others were also slumped on the ground, even weaker than him; comparatively, he was the first to come to.

"That’s right... the ritual and the badges." Lucien remembered something, and he hurriedly looked at his Space Ring, but he found that all the badges inside had disappeared.

Lucien staggered forward a few steps, but felt as if he was stepping on cotton, his entire body floating.

He had no choice but to sit down again, and after a good while, Lucien slowly came back to his senses. Although his Spirit Sea still felt some shock, at least it was not as muddled and confused as before.

Only after Lucien emerged from that chaotic state did he notice that the environment around him had changed.

Apart from the ground beneath his feet, which was still the original ground, they had undoubtedly left the blossoming flower of judgement and arrived on a floating island above the clouds.

The ground beneath their feet seemed to have acted as an "elevator," pushing them from the surface to the floating island above during the time when their spiritual power was pulled into that mysterious space by the statue of the Moon Wolf, Tuso.

"To blend the illusory with reality, to the extent of not noticing the slightest flaw, the ancient fairy who studied witch formations and the Illusory Realm must have reached an inconceivable level of mastery. I would truly like to witness the ancient fairy who designed this relic with my own eyes," Lucien murmured as he looked down at the flower of judgement, which had become a mere speck below, his eyes filled with wonder.

While Lucien surveyed the floating island beneath him, the other Wizard Apprentices and half-fairies began to come to one by one.

However, their spiritual power was much weaker than Lucien’s, so even though their consciousness was clear now, their bodies were still in a paralyzed state. Their spiritual power and will, under the shock, could not even enable them to get up.

The only one in relatively good condition was Carly.

But she relied on the two purple command tokens fused into the palm of her hand, under the protection of the purple glow released by these two command tokens, Carly’s Spirit Sea was far less affected than the others.

Before long, she was somewhat unsteady but managed to stand up and then saw Lucien, who was standing at the edge of the platform looking down.

"Instructor Lucien," Carly called out in a soft voice.

Lucien turned his head, looked at Carly, but his attention was more focused on the faint purple halo that enveloped her.

"Let’s go, to receive the greatest gift inside this relic," Lucien said to Carly, gently patting her shoulder, and then pointed towards the relatively intact ancient structure on the floating island.

In front of this building, there was also a statue of a dragon emitting the same material as the Moon Wolf statue.

If Lucien’s guess was correct, the building behind this statue should be the so-called "Mira’s Blessing," representing the Fairy Baptism Pool of baptism and rebirth.

Click, click, click...

After using the silver command token as a "key" to open this dust-covered building, which hadn’t been opened for who knows how many years, its interior layout also appeared before Lucien’s eyes.

However, to Lucien’s surprise, the inside of this building looked more like an enlarged study room.

"So many books, most of them are about the development and research of the Fairy Clan’s Bloodline." Lucien looked at these special books made from special leaves or plant fibers, carefully flipping through a few of them.

Over the long passage of time, these books had more or less decayed, and those made of poorer materials had completely crumbled to dust, disintegrating into a cloud of dust with a gentle poke.

In the center of the study, there was also a set of simple yet exquisite experimental apparatuses. It seemed that the original owner of the room also conducted experiments and research here, as one could still see some traces of temporary writing and engraving on the table.

However, these were not what Lucien was searching for and longing for; he was looking for the control center of the secret realm or the Fairy Rebirth Pool that Bennett and the others had been obsessed with. Yet, neither of these two items was to be found within this building, which caused Lucien to feel a bit disappointed.

It wasn’t until Lucien turned to Carly that he noticed she was currently fascinated by a decorative painting, staring intently at the painting’s Moon Fairy wielding an elegant sword.

Lucien was struck with a thought and immediately grabbed Carly’s wrist, then placed her hand, glowing with a purple halo, gently onto the painting.

The glow from Carly’s wrist grew brighter, and the next moment, a gentle suction force pulled both Carly and Lucien into another space.

This was a beautiful forest, and in the center of a clearing there was a spring flickering with specks of silver light.

Underneath the spring, was a small pond formed by the convergence of the spring’s waters, and at the pond’s edge, there was an array of intricate patterns in the ancient style of the Fairies. Upon closer inspection, one could see that these patterns were interconnected, forming a special wizard formation, and in the center of the pond lay an ancient Crystal Coffin, half-emerged from the water.

Around the pond, there were even a few scallops resting, and at that moment, they were gathered at the edge of the pond, opening their shells to reveal their delicate curves as if they were basking in the filtered sunlight through the forest.

Seeing Lucien and Carly, these strangers, the scallops did not flee but instead regarded them with curiosity until Lucien and Carly came very close. Then, the creatures hopped into the pond one after another.

Hum—The purple halo in Carly’s palms and the wizard formation inside the pond connected with each other, gradually reviving the ancient wizard formation.

"It seems... this is indeed the Fairy Baptism Pool," Lucien concluded, looking at the small pond and then at Carly beside him, rubbing her head gently.

"Go ahead," Lucien encouraged her with a smile on his face.

Feeling a strong call from within, Carly took a couple of steps forward, but then quickly stopped and ran back to give Lucien a tight hug before turning back as if afraid of Lucien getting angry. With a splash, she jumped into the pool.

"Silly girl, I told you to lie in the Crystal Coffin, not to swim in the pond," Lucien said, amused, as he watched Carly look puzzled after waiting for a while. He picked up a small pebble and tossed it into the water, causing a splash that just reached Carly.

Carly then, as if waking from a dream, climbed into the Crystal Coffin. Following that, the wizard formation seemed to be fully activated, as the Crystal Coffin slowly closed and began sinking to the bottom of the pond.

Inside the Crystal Coffin, Carly initially looked up at Lucien, but soon, under the influence of witchcraft, her consciousness fell into slumber.

"Probably, by the time I see Carly again, she will have transformed into a real Fairy; her Bloodline will naturally evolve and allow her to ascend to the status of a Formal Wizard," Lucien mused with a distant look, remembering Carly’s careful demeanor when he first saw her.

However, when he looked down at the Crystal Coffin that had already sunk to the bottom of the water, he found his own reflection in the water had disappeared, replaced instead by an image of Adeline holding a tattered rag doll. She was holding a Lilia doll with a broken arm, seemingly asking for Lucien’s help or silently accusing him.

"Are you Adeline’s friend? Can you help Adeline?" Adeline’s voice, echoing from the surface of the water, was still clear and pleasant, even pitiful.

Lucien, expressionless, picked up a stone and threw it fiercely into the water.

The stone agitated the water’s surface, sending ripples that disrupted the calm and destroyed Adeline’s medium. Quickly, Adeline’s image disappeared from the surface, and Lucien’s own reflection reappeared.

"What a nuisance. It seems I need to find a way to deal with this little thing once I’m back at the academy," Lucien frowned, it was clear that the nightmare creature called Adeline was now thoroughly fixated on him. Based on the obsessive nature of nightmare creatures, it would likely keep entangling itself with him until it achieved its goal.

For now, the little creature was only harrying him through dreams, the water’s surface, mirrors, and other mediums, but as it grew, it would inevitably venture into even more audacious acts, requiring Lucien to be prepared.

Dealing with Adeline would be something to handle after returning to the academy, but for now...

Lucien turned his attention to the scallops, which were cautiously observing him through the water’s surface, a harmless smile creeping onto his face.

The wait for Carly to complete her baptism seemed like the perfect opportunity to prepare potions and enhance his own spiritual power. And now, these considerate ingredients seemed to be reminding Lucien that they were ready.
