Chapter 504: Chapter 504: Eclipse Hammer
Now is not the time to discuss the problem; we need to evacuate before the County Police arrive.
Pihom’s gun shop, although located in the more remote Lower District of Opportunity City, made it odd that with so many people shooting in the streets and a helicopter crash, the County Police had not yet arrived.
Before leaving, Chen Ke picked up two Holy Diamonds dropped by the assassins, weighing them in his hand, and they were purple! They were Holy Relics with innate skills! It seemed that Si’s consortium had come prepared, really sparing no expense.
Chen Ke led Lucina and Hall to the Illusion Dream Center through the convenience store’s door, then transferred them to Lucina’s home.
Hall had been shot in the shoulder and needed treatment, but fortunately, it wasn’t a major issue. Lucina had lost her father and now had no one to comfort her.
Lucina tore open Hall’s short sleeve; the bullet hole was still bleeding. She grabbed a bottle of strong liquor and poured it onto the wound, causing Hall to cry out in pain.
"Shut your mouth!" Lucina cursed. She put down the bottle and picked up the phone to dial a number.
"Who are you calling?" Chen Ke asked.
"I’m contacting Bain. He will send a doctor, he will arrange everything..." Lucina said.
"Bain is an associate of Pihom... and now Pihom is dead," Chen Ke said.
"I don’t need you to tell me a second time," Lucina said.
Chen Ke knew Lucina was in a terrible mood, while Hall grabbed the bottle and took several big swigs, trying to use the alcohol to dull the pain.
"Hall, when did they attack the gun shop? What happened then?" Chen Ke asked.
"D**n it, they came out of nowhere. I was at the safehouse coordinating the next heist with Pihom, we hadn’t made a move since we hit Pulito Bank," Hall said.
"We’ve been laying low since then," Chen Ke said.
"Laying low for long enough. Pihom had been hesitating. He somehow got wind of the influential powers behind the green Holy Diamond, and his personality changed dramatically," Hall said.
"Hmm? What’s the big deal with this diamond? Isn’t it just something jointly guarded by Si’s consortium and Yasla?" Chen Ke asked.
"No, no, no... Pihom didn’t tell me much, but he talked to Hainerd. I could tell from their expressions that this little thing is a real hot potato," Hall shook his head.
"Did they tell you what this thing actually is?" Chen Ke asked.
"Hainerd knows something, he said it’s something the people of Yasla would use, and there are six of them in total. Pihom had more detailed intel; this thing isn’t a Holy Relic, Chen Ke, these aren’t the kind that turn into medieval cold weapons..." Hall said.
"Not a Holy Relic...? Then what is it?" Chen Ke pondered.
"I don’t know. Pihom refused to divulge more, and he’s been trying to figure out how to return it. Chen Ke, we stole something we shouldn’t have," Hall said.
"Give me a break... It’s not just because Si’s consortium has more money than us," Chen Ke shook his head.
"No, it’s not about Si’s consortium. This little green stone, it’s an opportunity," Hall said.
"What kind of opportunity?" Chen Ke asked.
"It doesn’t matter whether it’s Yasla or Si’s consortium; they don’t want to possess the diamond. They want to offer it to someone. I don’t know who. Pihom had been worried lately because he dared not dispose of it casually nor return it openly... I can tell, whoever wants this thing, they are not to be trifled with," Hall said.
While Chen Ke and Hall were talking, Lucina finally got through on the phone.
"We need a doctor, at my house, the action got a little rough, Pihom will tell you about it later," Lucina said.
Chen Ke and Hall looked at the recording, knowing she had concealed the news of Pihom and Hainerd’s deaths.
"Okay, the total fee is 200,000, plus a 5% dividend," Lucina nodded and said.
Lucina hung up the phone and looked at the two men standing there like stunned chickens.
"Thank you, Lucina, I’ll work hard on practicing Tekken 5 from now on," Hall said.
"Keep it down at my house, Hall," Lucina said, then turned and walked towards the back room.
"She’s in a bad mood right now, Chen Ke. You’d better keep an eye on her; I’m really afraid she might do something crazy. Like going to Si’s consortium alone for revenge. We’ve lost enough already," Hall said.
"Pihom told me a few times that there are more mail carriers than just us. Where are the others?" Chen Ke asked.
"We have people in the north and the south, but the ones below seldom connect. If they can’t get in touch with Pihom, they’ll know something’s gone wrong with us... When that happens, the only ending for this organization will be to split apart," Hall said.
"So you’re saying we can’t ask them for help now?" Chen Ke asked.
"Don’t even think about it; there’s no chance," Hall shook his head.
"Talk about misfortune raining down on a leaking house," Chen Ke said.
He activated his Spiritual Vision and watched Lucina through the wall, making sure no one was coming in or out of the apartment. They had come here directly via instant teleportation from the Illusion Dream Center, so it was unlikely anyone could have followed them.
Chen Ke saw the silhouette of Lucina undressing, apparently to take a shower. Having just returned from a fire, Chen Ke’s suit was also ridiculously torn; he had no choice but to fight, and this was the result.
With the help of alcohol, Hall managed to hold out until the doctor arrived. Chen Ke was surprised to see the doctor was an Asian, short and chubby, probably in his fifties.
He was methodical and didn’t ask much, spreading out his bag which contained all his gear. A bullet wound to the shoulder was nothing uncommon for such a doctor.
After changing into fresh clothes, Lucina also came to help, leaving Chen Ke awkwardly sitting on the sofa, feeling rather superfluous.
While waiting for Hall’s wound to be treated, Chen Ke began examining the two Holy Diamonds confiscated from the assassins in the Dimension Pocket.
Both Holy Diamonds were purple quality, each with an inherent skill comparable to the Moonlight Greatsword. First was the male assassin’s hammer.
