Chapter 484: What Did You See?

Chapter 484: Chapter 484: What Did You See?

"Shh! Don’t talk about this just yet!" Diana made a gesture to lower her voice, and Lucina quickly covered her mouth.

"No wonder we can never find him, calling to get the ’not in service area’ message." Lucina said, looking down in thought.

"I’ve always thought you were spouting nonsense, but your expression and tone... and my daughter... damn it, am I getting too old?" Hainerd said, covering his forehead, unsure of what he had just heard meant.

"Dad, Chen Ke isn’t a normal person. Maybe he disappeared to another time-space last night," Lucina said to Hainerd.

"Wait a minute... disappeared? Do you mean you can’t find him, or he vanished in the physical sense?" Diana asked.

"That’s a secret between him and me," Lucina said.

"Listen, Lucina, I have something very important, and I have to ask him in person. Last night, three assassins broke into my house and nearly killed me; they had a list with the name of a friend of mine on it," Diana said.

"That’s a coincidence. Three men claiming to be from the Administration Bureau showed up at my place this morning, blew up my fish farm, and then..." Lucina trailed off, hesitating.

"Lucina, what did they do to you?" Hainerd asked.

"Look at me, I’m fine. They wanted to do something, but they weren’t capable enough," Lucina explained.

"If I’m not mistaken, the mutated item that can create illusions was what you took from them, right?" Diana asked.

"You could say that," Lucina nodded.

"I think I know what they did to you... just like you dealt with me with that double-barreled shotgun," Diana sighed.

Hainerd understood what Diana meant, looking at Lucina with a complex expression.

"No matter what that thing looks like, the illusions it can create are more sophisticated than any Skill from the Holy Scriptures. Even if a person is killed, just coming into contact with the illusion can restore them... look, here I am, sitting right in front of you, aren’t I?" Diana held her coffee cup, looking at Lucina and Hainerd.

"Enough, Diana. Don’t guess about things you haven’t seen!" Lucina said angrily.

"Lucina, did they hurt you?" Hainerd asked again.

"No, I killed them and then took a coin. Before that, I even found out what they were after," Lucina said.

"Anyway, Lucina, you got out, which proves those guys were weak. If I had something like that, you would have stood no chance," Diana said with a smile.

"Are you belittling me, you harlot?" Lucina, somewhat angry, glared at Diana.

"Don’t challenge me, Lucina. You might think you can fight, but you’ve never truly fought. Neither your fists nor bullets can solve any problems, trust me," Diana said lightly.

"If I had used my own gun earlier, you would be dead," Lucina said.

"In real combat, there are no ifs. Hesitate and you will lose," Diana smiled.

"Then you’ve already lost to me. I mercifully spared your life," Lucina snorted.

Diana didn’t argue; the fact was indeed so.

"Those motherfucking dogs of Si’s consortium..." Suddenly, Hainerd cursed angrily, his complexion extremely ugly.

"Si’s consortium? Are they the ones who have been troubling you?" Diana asked.

Hainerd nodded.

"What’s your background? Why would such a big consortium bother with you?" Diana asked, puzzled.

"They were looking for Chen Ke, it has nothing to do with us; we were just coincidentally taken care of by them," Lucina said.

"The consortium... Did they send out the list?" Diana thought deeply, trying to connect the assassins with Si’s consortium, but she couldn’t figure it out.

Si’s consortium wouldn’t have dared to carry out such a massive assassination operation, no matter how bold they are.

"Then who is trying to target you?" Hainerd asked.

"That’s exactly what I’m trying to figure out. I don’t know who orchestrated the assassination, but I don’t believe Si’s consortium would dare to assassinate agents from the Administration Bureau and people from the research institute," Diana shook her head.

"Do the people on the list all know Chen Ke?" Hainerd inquired.

"My friends and I do, but as for the others, I’m not sure. It’s unlikely... There are also many prominent figures from the business and political worlds on the list. Does Chen Ke have such a broad network?" Diana said.

"I don’t know, he doesn’t seem to need money, and he doesn’t seem to have a motive for his actions. Maybe we just don’t know what he wants," Hainerd sighed.

"We’re all clear now, we all have trouble, and it’s very likely that the troublemakers aren’t the same people. The only thing we have in common is that we all know Chen Ke," Diana analyzed.

Lucina looked at Hainerd; actually, they knew why Si’s consortium came to blow up the house. It was simply because they had stolen the green Holy Diamond from the Pulito Bank.

Diana’s appearance was unexpected; no one knew how many people like Diana, Chen Ke was acquainted with.

"Lucina, you’re brave to be dating Chen Ke. You’ve established a relationship with him without even knowing what background he comes from, how capable he is, or how much trouble he’s involved in. As an ordinary person without an organization to back you up, what will you do if Chen Ke’s enemies capture you to blackmail him? To Chen Ke, you’re nothing but trouble," Diana said.

"What are you talking about? Are you trying to stir up trouble between us so you can take advantage when I’m vulnerable?" Lucina got upset and stood up angrily.

"If I had wanted to, I had plenty of opportunities back in 2006," Diana said with a smile.

"You’d better stay away from him," Lucina said.

"Oh, I just remembered something... it seems that Chen Ke actually has two girlfriends in this world..." Diana suddenly grew absent-minded, as if she recalled something.

"Hm?" Lucina narrowed her eyes, leaned over the table and moved her head close to Diana in a rather sinister pose. Even Hainerd couldn’t bear to watch, he reached out and patted her back.

"I’ve seen him at the bank... he was embracing a woman... with purple hair, and she seemed quite wealthy," Diana recollected.

"At the bank?" Hainerd inquired.

"Yes, it was at noon. I remember now, Pulito Bank. He was sitting there, waiting for his girlfriend. She seemed to be called Sleery? She was rather pretty," Diana said.

"Pulito Bank... Were you there that afternoon?" Hainerd grew alert.

"Who is Sleery... Wait a second, why does that name sound so familiar..." Lucina narrowed her eyes as she tried to remember.

"It looks like only one of you and that Sleery can live in this world," Diana said with a laugh.

"She will die soon," Lucina said firmly, clenching her coffee mug.

"Okay, enough chit-chat. Is there really no way to contact Chen Ke?" Diana asked.

"We also wish we could find him, but there’s no way. Unless he comes to us, we simply can’t see him," Hainerd shook his head.

"That’s problematic... Are we just going to sit here and wait for him to come to us? Isn’t there..." Diana spoke, when suddenly her nose felt warm, and a stream of nosebleed flowed down, dripping into her coffee cup.

Diana suddenly lifted her head, covering her nostrils with both hands, feeling dizzy with a rush of heat surging up her throat.

Hainerd and Lucina watched Diana with complicated looks in their eyes.

Unable to help it, Diana’s stomach trembled as she bent over to the side and vomited everything in her stomach.

"Ah! Damn it! I just cleaned the basement!" Hainerd sighed and quickly got up to grab a bucket and mop.

Diana leaned on the table silently for a moment; when she lifted her head, her expression was both blank and perplexed. She looked towards Lucina, seeking an answer.

Lucina slid a pack of tissues to her and asked, "What did you see?"
