Chapter 482: Love Rival

Chapter 482: Chapter 482: Love Rival

A tangerine-hued shield instantly enveloped Diana as the bullets ricocheted off like rubber candies, and she pulled out her Rhino revolver, aiming at Lucina and Hainerd.

Instantly, the surrounding scenery shifted—the street views receded, buildings vanished, and the asphalt morphed into fertile soil. Towering trees burst from the ground, creating a forest.

Diana, startled and gripping her longsword, immediately recognized it as an illusion. She reholstered her gun and clutched the sword handle tightly with both hands.

The dark forest began to mist, and figures darted behind tree trunks, snapping dead branches underfoot.

Three gunshots rang out. Bullets attacked from behind, once again deflected by the shield, boring holes into the surrounding tree trunks.

Diana silently counted the enemy’s shots; in a fleeting glance, she had seen a Glock in their hands, which could at most hold 17 bullets unless they had extended magazines.

Diana also started to run through the woods, touching a tree trunk and feeling an intensely realistic texture. This illusion was far more sophisticated than any she had encountered before, unlikely created by any secret skill.

Basic Illusion Techniques were a form of advanced eye-blocking skill, whereas more advanced illusions could deceive the senses and the brain.

But this...it was no longer just an illusion—it actually fabricated a plethora of non-existent entities and could physically influence them.

Diana spotted a dark figure standing about ten paces away. She dashed to a nearby tree trunk for cover, and the next second, the roar of a shotgun echoed as deer bullets exploded, peppering the nearby tree bark with small steel pellets.

"Damn...they’ve got shotguns too?" Diana was shocked; she hadn’t seen them carrying such weapons a moment ago.

But the biggest question was, who were these two? Why did that woman start shooting just after asking a question?

"Hey! Do you know what the charge is for intentionally injuring an Administration Bureau agent?" Diana shouted.

"Screw your Administration Bureau! You Si’s consortium lapdog!" The woman’s curse came from within the forest.

"Consortium? I think you’ve got the wrong person!" Diana retorted, perplexed.

"You won’t find Chen Ke! You can’t hurt me anymore!" the woman yelled again.

"What do you mean, Lucina? What have they done to you?" the man added, presumably addressing the woman.

Diana, utterly confused, heard someone running behind her. She spun around and saw a woman about six paces away, aiming a revolver at her.

"Bang!"

Diana’s body jolted, a heavy punch seemed to hit her waist. She hurled an Air Explosion towards her assailant; with a loud boom, the woman was blown into the darkness.

Diana coughed out blood and dove behind a nearby tree; looking down, she found a large bloody hole in her abdomen.

"Crap..." Diana cursed, her right leg unresponsive. Taking a bullet from a revolver to the stomach was a bad sign.

"I hit her!" the woman called out.

"You two maniacs! I don’t even know you!" Diana yelled.

"You’re looking for Chen Ke, that’s enough for me to know," the woman shouted.

"You know Chen Ke?!" Diana yelled towards the darkness.

Holding her wound, Diana leaned against the tree, shivering in pain, feeling blood flowing down her leg, soaking her vest and pants.

"Do you know Chen Ke?" Diana repeated.

No one answered.

Diana took a deep breath, lifted her vest, and examined the wound. A bullet hole oozed blood on her right waist, numbing the muscles from her thigh to her right abdomen, while her stomach contorted in pain.

"Dammit, dammit, dammit... crap, crap, crap..." Diana swallowed, overwhelmed with pain, when suddenly a double-barreled shotgun was thrust against her stomach. She looked up to see an angry face.

"To hell with your Administration Bureau."

"Bang!"

"Wait! Guh—" Diana hadn’t even finished speaking when she felt something pierce her, the bullet ripping through her abdomen and exiting her back, blooming like a flower through her body.

She slid down the tree, head tilting back, crashed on her back, struggling for two seconds before closing her eyes.

...

In a daze, Diana heard a man and a woman talking.

"Where did you get this thing?"

"I found it on someone from Si’s consortium, my new toy."

"What have they done to you?"

"I’m fine, Dad, I’m fine... We have more important things to do."

"You just scared me just now, although you’ve always been reckless since you were little, but... your reaction was somewhat abnormal."

"Dad! I promise I’m okay."

"Alright, but I’ll have to keep that new toy, it’s too dangerous to leave with you..."

"No... I still need it."

A sigh...

"Uh..."

Diana groaned and slowly opened her eyes. She saw the two people she had heard earlier standing in front of her.

"Hey!" Diana tried to get up suddenly, but the chains tied her to the chair, immobilizing her.

She looked down and saw that she was stripped down to her underwear and tank top, her belongings were all placed on a table nearby.

"Who... who are you?" Diana asked.

The woman stepped forward and slapped Diana across the face, her right cheek instantly swelling up in fiery pain.

Diana anxiously looked at her abdomen and did not find the gunshot wound from before, her body was intact, only a few shallow claw marks from 2006 were on her abs.

"Do you know Chen Ke? Why are you looking for him?" the woman asked.

"Who are you? Why are you using Illusion Technique?" Diana asked.

"I am the one asking the questions!" the woman pressed down on Diana’s shoulders, harshly.

"You won’t get any answers this way." The middle-aged man shook his head.

"Listen, I don’t know you, nor do I know what your relationship with Chen Ke is, but since we all know him... why don’t we introduce ourselves first?" Diana suggested.

"Don’t even dream about it, you whore! I’m interrogating you!" the woman shouted angrily.

"She has a point..." the man said.

"Dad!" the woman turned back.

"Look... CPA identification... I think it’s not forged." The man fiddled with Diana’s wallet.

"Hmph..." the woman was displeased.

"My name is Diana, an agent from the CPA department of the Administration Bureau in Opportunity City, what are your names?" Diana asked.

"Given your identity, it’s not wise for us to tell you our names," the man said.

"If you have no grudge against Chen Ke, I can let bygones be bygones and pretend nothing happened tonight. How about that?" Diana assured.

The man thought for a moment and asked, "Sounds like you’re on good terms with Chen Ke? How can we trust your word?"

"He saved my life once, but now, a bunch of trouble seems to be related to him..." Diana replied.

"You’re not here to catch Chen Ke?" the woman asked.

"No... I just want to find him, maybe he has answers." Diana shook her head.

"My name is Hainerd, this is my daughter Lucina, you better not tell me you’re Chen Ke’s girlfriend," Hainerd said.

"Because his girlfriend is standing right in front of you. There’s only room in this world for one girlfriend of Chen Ke, if there are two, one must die," Lucina stated, arms crossed.

"See, we all have no grudge against Chen Ke, can you let me go now?" Diana sighed.
