Chapter 397: Chapter 397 Interlude

"I had no feelings at the time... those three men were clearly kneeling in front of me, and then they suddenly died..."

Raffi Road, 11 p.m., in front of the warehouse owned by Lescott Spirit Production.

Four police cars were parked at the alley in front of the warehouse’s main gate, and two black FPI enforcement vehicles were stationed on the perimeter.

The path leading to the warehouse was cordoned off with police tape, and a County Police officer stood next to the tape, recounting the incident to an external agent from the Administration Bureau.

Bader crossed the tape and checked the three gunmen lying on the path who had died of asphyxiation.

A female agent walked up to him, looking toward the direction of the warehouse door.

"Their throats were slit—looking at the cut, the assailant had plenty of time," Bader said.

"Do you believe what the County Police said, Bader? These three gunmen were kneeling in front of him, and there was another assisting County Police officer beside him. How could the assassin have time to slit three throats without being discovered?" the female agent asked.

"Let’s go inside and see, Connie. These days, nothing surprises me," Bader stood up, instructing the accompanying forensic team to examine the bodies.

The two walked to the doorway and saw smashed tables and several gunmen with broken spines, their bodies twisted at grotesque angles, paralyzed and motionless on the ground.

Several Mercedes cars were also parked by the door, two of which had been pierced through with great force and overturned by the roadside, yet they hadn’t exploded.

"Look at what’s inside..." Connie pointed inside the door.

Inside the warehouse lay even more bodies, all dismembered, the scene extremely gruesome.

Bader stepped over the bodies at the entrance, surveyed the remnants of a round table on the ground, and then looked at the bodies, trying to piece together the killer’s methods in his mind.

"What does it look like to you?" Connie asked.

"Penetrative injuries, capable of tearing a person in half at a glance, either by a Lightning Spear or a Soul Spear," Bader replied.

"It’s unlikely to be a Lightning Spear... there are no signs of scorching on the bodies," Connie moved closer to a mutilated corpse, examining the horrifying wound closely; the round penetrative injury was unbearable for the human body, piercing the entire waist and abdomen, with only a bit of flesh connecting the upper and lower limbs.

"Also, isn’t the power of these two abilities too great?" Connie added.

There are four kinds of supernatural Gun Skills: Lightning Spear, Flame Spear, Soul Spear, Ice Cone Spear. These supernatural skills are standard for senior external agents of the Administration Bureau.

Because of their versatility and ease of use, as well as their simplicity and effectiveness, the consumption of spiritual elements is also within a controllable range.

With an Energy Level of 2, an agent can launch at least seven spears, enough to be used in one battle considering their power.

"The trauma radius has increased fourfold. It’s like four spears clumped together and thrown at once... I’ve seen someone who could do that," Bader chuckled.

"Was it Chen Ke?" Connie asked.

"He once killed me... Connie, using this very technique," Bader said, his dark face slightly splitting at the cheeks when he spoke, revealing the purple musculature beneath his skin.

"Bader... control your emotions; your face just split open, hiss..." Connie said, her tongue flicking out like a snake’s from between her lips, before quickly retracting.

"Do you think he’s involved with the massacre in the Deep Anchor District that night?" Connie moved closer, asking in a low voice.

"It’s unlikely to be related; he probably doesn’t know about the angels..." Bader shook his head.

"Why not use the Administration Bureau’s system to track him down? Grandma isn’t giving us much time..." Connie said.

"We can’t afford the risk of exposure; you’ve only recently joined Yasla. Be careful to keep your identity hidden..." Bader cautioned.

Connie nodded, taking a deep breath, her pupils flickering with an unusual orange glow.

"His activities have been increasing recently; we will find him," Bader said.

"Thud, thud, thud!"

"Knock, knock, knock, knock!"

"Open the door, I know you’re in there."

At 9 AM, Hainerd was at the small fish factory in the Deep Anchor District.

Chen Ke stood in front of the Red Door in the basement, knocking on the door. It was well past sunrise, and he had been rapping at the door for five minutes.

"Open up, Lucina," Chen Ke knocked relentlessly.

He scanned the room using his Spiritual Vision and saw Lucina vigorously hitting a punching bag.

Even without the Spiritual Vision, he could tell what Lucina was doing from the "thump, thump" sounds coming through the door.

"Uh... okay, looks like you don’t want to see me, so I’ll just leave," Chen Ke said, and turned to walk away.

He had only taken a few steps when the door suddenly swung open.

A gust of hot air hit Chen Ke’s back, the temperature inside was significantly higher than outside.

Lucina, wearing a tight tank top and shorts, barefoot, her hair tied back in a ponytail, soaked in sweat, grabbed Chen Ke’s arm and pulled him into the room, then kicked the door shut with her foot.

Chen Ke was dragged into the room and saw four handguns on a table next to two automatic rifles, with boxes of bullets all over the sofa.

Lucina led Chen Ke to the punching bag and delivered a heavy kick that made a loud thump.

Then she silently punched the bag, as if trying to communicate something to Chen Ke with her body language.

Chen Ke didn’t interrupt her, he just sat down on a nearby sofa and looked at the boxes of bullets.

They were all 7.62 caliber rifle bullets; he looked at the disassembled automatic rifles by the table, specifically a FAL with a folding stock.

Mail carriers had their own network for guns, and speaking of which, it had been a long time since he had contacted Pihom. Chen Ke wasn’t sure how communication between Hainerd and Pihom was going, or whether the offer of 3 million for the green Holy Diamond was accepted.

"Huff... huff... huff..." Lucina stopped after a while, clearly exhausted, hugging the bag and gasping for breath, sweat dripping onto the floor, her calves and fists bright red.

"You are..." Chen Ke started to speak, but Lucina turned around, her face expressing both anger and non-anger.

"Don’t talk, Mad Fak," Lucina said. "I’m considering something very important."

"Oh?" Chen Ke was taken aback.

"Don’t talk! Don’t talk! Let me think this through alone!" Lucina exclaimed.

Chen Ke shrugged, unsure what got into her, but he decided not to ask at that moment.

Lucina was hot-tempered. Although not exactly unpredictable, she could certainly be moody, and it was best to let her vent without probing too much, as pressing her could only annoy her further.

At that moment, Hainerd entered the room. Chen Ke looked at him, sensing he was aware of his daughter’s current condition.

"Chen Ke? Do you fish?" Hainerd asked.

"Fishing?" Chen Ke was puzzled.

"Yes, literal fishing. Come on, I have all the gear prepared," Hainerd said.

"That’s fortunate..." Chen Ke stood up, glanced at Lucina, sighed, and followed Hainerd out of the basement.

This time, Hainerd had driven Pihom’s pickup truck, filled with fishing tools in the bed, including rods and two small buckets of special bait among other things Chen Ke didn’t recognize.

Thus began their sudden fishing trip, and Chen Ke felt a bit foolish dressed in a suit for fishing.

On their way, Hainerd remained silent, creating a subtle atmosphere. When they reached the destination, Chen Ke helped Hainerd unload the gear from the bed of the truck, and followed Hainerd, taking careful steps towards the fishing spot.
