This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!
Chapter 384 Hurry up, rookie!

Chapter 384: Chapter 384 Hurry up, rookie!

In the center of the warehouse, there was a small safe on a table—the most common kind of safe—but inside it contained the bottom film Chen Ke needed.

Chen Ke gathered spiritual power in his left hand, and blue soul energy crystallized into the shape of a gun, which he fiercely threw into the crowd.

The soul gun passed through bodies as easily as a chopstick pierces tofu, leaving limbs and body parts in its wake.

These tool people couldn’t provide Chen Ke with killing intent, so every shot of the soul gun required careful calculation of the angle to maximize killing efficiency.

Moreover, every shot of the soul gun used the minimum energy necessary, and its power wasn’t as massive as before.

Even so, it was more than enough to deal with people; each soul gun blast was much more powerful than a rifle bullet, at least equivalent to a small missile, except it didn’t explode.

With every throw, at least ten or more could be killed, and though they had no fear of casualties, the pressure from the barrage of fire did indeed lessen.

Ms. Harlowin was temporarily safe behind the protection of an iron door, and her aim was good; each time she poked her head out to fire, she managed to kill a few.

On the other side, Chen Ke was targeted by sniper fire, bullets pinging loudly off his armor, but with his heels dug in and the weight of the armor itself, he could barely stand his ground.

Soon, the number of tool people inside the warehouse was significantly reduced, and the pressure from the gunfire lessened considerably.

Suddenly, Chen Ke’s right hand felt heavy, and he looked in one direction; someone was shooting at the door with a large-caliber bolt-action rifle.

A hole was pierced through the door, and Harlowin fell to the ground, but she quickly scrambled back up.

"Are you alright?" Chen Ke called out, trying to be heard over the sound of gunfire.

"I’m not dead," Harlowin touched her cheek where the bullet, after penetrating the iron door and refracting, had nearly blown her head off, leaving a bloody mark on her face.

Chen Ke threw another soul gun shot that skewered the sniper with a chilling effect.

"They’re fewer in number now, this time we’ll definitely make it, push forward slowly," Chen Ke said.

With fewer enemies, the gunfire no longer fell thick and fast like raindrops, because with fewer people, there was less overlap in shooting while reloading.

Modern automatic rifles, after shooting three to four magazines in rapid succession, would become so hot that they had to be changed.

Of course, with semi-automatic fire, the lifespan of a barrel would be longer.

Chen Ke threw another soul gun blast, and now, only a dozen or so tool people remained, standing well apart from each other. He called back his left arm armor, freeing one hand, and pulled out his Model 67 to shoot.

No matter how many times you use Holy Relics and Skill books, a gun was still more convenient and familiar.

After Chen Ke and Harlowin had taken care of the last of the tool people, he called back all of his armor and tossed the bullet-riddled door aside.

"So... we made it?" Harlowin looked at the bodies scattered around, scarcely believing they were so close to success this time.

"The wound on your face isn’t serious, right?" Chen Ke asked.

"Compared to the hundreds of times before, this is nothing," Harlowin said, wiping the blood from her face.

"Then..." Chen Ke made a gesture of invitation.

The safe on the table was so ordinary, no information popped up in Chen Ke’s vision; it was not mutated.

Harlowin walked up to the safe, looked at Chen Ke, and asked, "Can I ask you a question?"

"What do you want to ask?" Chen Ke replied.

"If you find the camera owner, can you kill him for me?" Harlowin asked.

"That sounds like a contract killing; contracts aren’t free, Ms. Harlowin," Chen Ke said.

Harlowin smiled, leaned forward, and kissed Chen Ke.

Mint flavor.

She licked her lips and gently shook her head.

"He’s as good as dead," Chen Ke declared.

Harlowin smiled, satisfied, turned around, and with slender fingers, began to twist the safe’s combination dial, turning it gently.

The dial made a crisp "click-click-click" sound, and with each turn, they were closer to getting the bottom film.

At that moment, the tone in the warehouse changed.

The originally warm orange-yellow light suddenly turned blue, and the walls, corpses, and floor all gave Chen Ke an odd sensation. He anxiously looked around, wary of any impending danger.

"I think we need to hurry up... The situation here is getting a bit grim. Have you ever encountered something like this?" Chen Ke said uneasily.

Ms. Harlowin did not answer him.

Chen Ke looked at Ms. Harlowin, who was still intently staring at the safe, bending over and trying to open the door, but her entire body seemed to freeze in motion.

"Hey... Ms. Harlowin..." Chen Ke patted her, feeling her body was stiff.

Something wasn’t right...

Chen Ke leaned close to Ms. Harlowin’s face and saw her eyes fixed on the safe, her expression and posture forever stuck in the process of trying to open it.

Chen Ke had a bad hunch. He kicked the corpse at his feet, only to find no matter how he kicked, it wouldn’t budge, as if it had grown into the ground, turned into a plaster statue.

This is...

Time had stopped...

If time had stopped, how could he still move? While he was pondering this, a sound of something breaking came from behind him.

Following the sound, he looked back at the warehouse wall, only to see it slowly cracking open, and after the crack, the space behind the wall was enveloped by blue mist. The shattered cement pieces floated in midair.

A massive Polaroid camera emerged from the mist, its bottom attached to a human body.

"Fuck..." Chen Ke was shocked.

"Ms. Harlowin, oh, my beautiful and charming Ms. Harlowin, you’ll never get that negative..." the camera head said in a shrill, comical voice.

"Are you the camera...?" Chen Ke summoned the Moonlight Greatsword and armor, bracing for battle.

In his field of vision, that camera had no information—it seemed it wasn’t the main body.

"You...? Where did you come from? How are you not affected by the time stop??" The camera seemed surprised.

Chen Ke summoned the Soul Gun in his left hand, aiming to fire at the camera.

"It doesn’t matter, you can just die trapped here. In the world of the negative, I am the deity! Hahahahaha!" As the camera head spoke, it quickly retreated back into the mist.

Just as Chen Ke’s Soul Gun left his hand, the cracked wall instantly closed up, and the Soul Gun slammed hard against the wall, creating a large hole and leaving behind blue light traces.

The blue space around him returned to normal, and then, out of nowhere, another NPC appeared, unleashing a barrage of gunfire at Ms. Harlowin.

"Dadadadadada!"

Ms. Harlowin’s back and thigh were penetrated by 7.76 bullets, blood spraying like ketchup on the safe. She suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, her body dragged forward by the inertia of the bullets, and she collapsed to the ground.

Chen Ke charged over and cleaved the NPC in half with a sword, then pulled the sword out of the split corpse.

He recalled all the Holy Relics to his body and quickly rushed to Ms. Harlowin’s side, finding her lying in a pool of blood.

"Ugh...Ugh..." Ms. Harlowin coughed up fresh blood, her stunning face twisted from the intense pain; she seemed to say something but couldn’t.

Chen Ke could feel the space in the warehouse shaking—Ms. Harlowin was dying, and the world was about to face yet another reset.

"Rookie... the safe..." Ms. Harlowin stretched her hand out towards the safe on the table.

Chen Ke understood her intention and moved the safe from the table down to the floor.

Ms. Harlowin closed her eyes, struggling to turn the combination dial, and from the bullet holes in her back, Chen Ke knew that her liver, kidneys, and small intestine must have been perforated.

The dial of the safe made a slow clicking noise as Ms. Harlowin’s hand trembled.

"It’s okay, Ms. Harlowin... We can try again next time," Chen Ke said, unwilling to rush her under these circumstances.

"Uh..." Suddenly, Ms. Harlowin’s whole body went still, her hand dropped, and fell into the pool of blood.

The shaking of the warehouse space grew more severe—Ms. Harlowin was dead, and this time, it seemed there was no more hope.

"Click... thud!"

Just then, the door of the safe slowly opened. Inside lay a negative.

"Quick, rookie..." Ms. Harlowin said with a smile, turning her face and opening one eye to look at him.

Chen Ke picked up the negative and, before the space reset, was pulled into it.
