Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Human Cradle Plan Foundation

(I don’t know why, but Qidian doesn’t support the modification of Chapter titles, so the typographical error can’t be corrected. It should be called the Human Cradle Plan Foundation.)

The mansion was pitch-black, looking through the iron gate, the entire grand house had not a single light on, making it resemble a silent monster.

Chen Ke was somewhat curious as he glanced at the sign on the fence which read "Annie Roger’s Mansion." The sign looked new, suggesting the mansion had been recently renovated.

He activated his Spiritual Vision and swept his gaze across the estate, but there was not a single human silhouette to be seen, suggesting it was uninhabited.

"What’s going on... Could it be that I’m too late..." Chen Ke scratched his head.

"Click."

Just then, the iron gate opened automatically. Chen Ke looked up and noticed a surveillance camera atop the gate column was aimed at him.

The fire in the fireplace was burning fiercely, and Li Moyang, wearing his robe, sat on the sofa, swirling his glass of whiskey. The door was pushed open, and the visitor was Chen Ke.

"Chen Ke. I hope you haven’t lied to me," Li Moyang said, not looking at Chen Ke and staring blankly into the fire, seemingly deep in thought.

"You don’t seem to be in a good mood," Chen Ke said.

A flash of displeasure crossed Li Moyang’s face as he replied, "Don’t bother yourself."

He placed his whiskey glass on the coffee table and then turned his head to look at Chen Ke, adding, "I hope you’ve brought something... proof that you’ve really killed Corrigan."

Chen Ke took out his cell phone, pulled up a photo of Corrigan’s body, and handed the phone to Li Moyang.

Li Moyang took the phone and examined the photo carefully, furrowing his brows slightly, and after about ten seconds, he sighed.

Chen Ke sensed that Li Moyang seemed to be getting angry. He stood in silence, waiting for Li Moyang’s reaction.

"What is this supposed to be?" Li Moyang asked with displeasure.

"This is his body," Chen Ke said.

"All I see is a mass of black flesh," Li Moyang responded coldly.

"The situation at the time was beyond your imagination," Chen Ke said.

"Do you think a photo of mangled flesh is enough to fool me? Or are you deliberately trying to anger me?" Li Moyang expressed his dissatisfaction.

"Corrigan had mutated; it cost me more to take him down, and this is how you talk to me?" Chen Ke also grew irritated.

Li Moyang handed the phone back to Chen Ke and wiped his face, asking, "Anything else? I can’t make a judgment based on this photo alone."

Chen Ke sighed and took out a fragment of the Symbiotic Stone from his pocket, handing it over to Li Moyang.

"What’s this?" Li Moyang took the piece and scrutinized it by the fire.

"It used to be a whole piece, about the size of a small flashlight, implanted in Corrigan’s forehead. Later, it got shattered by me," Chen Ke said.

Li Moyang placed the stone fragment on the coffee table, his face showing clear disappointment.

"I’m in a very bad mood now, Chen Ke. You should go back first. If what you say is true, I will contact you again," Li Moyang gestured dismissively, gazing out the window.

Chen Ke found it strange, as he had just failed to see the light from the fireplace through the window.

"Then I will be leaving, Mr. Li," Chen Ke said.

Li Moyang gave no response, standing with his back to the window.

When Chen Ke left the mansion, he looked back one more time to see that the big house was still lifeless, without a speck of light, and even the glow from the fireplace was no longer visible. And his Spiritual Vision could not detect Li Moyang’s silhouette...

Chen Ke collected his emotions, understanding that as someone who had never encountered the Transcendent, a mere businessman, Li Moyang lacked patience and didn’t trust the details in the photo to be normal.

The death of a president and founder of a large consortium, and the transfer of power, was always accompanied by a news conference. The way Corrigan had died didn’t matter for broadcasting; what mattered was to convince Li Moyang that Corrigan was indeed dead.

Chen Ke had to immediately return to the place he was renting, still unaware of Rama and Louis’s current situation. Once he’d made sense of the paper sent by Wang Ailin, he would bring Sam over.

When Chen Ke returned to his rental near the hospital, it was already 10 p.m.

With only a little over 12 hours of life left, he was not accustomed to the sudden shift from the luxury of hundreds of hours back to a mere dozen. It made him very uncomfortable.

He went upstairs, took out his keys, and opened the door, only to see that the room was empty.

"Rama? Louis?"

Chen Ke called out, and his assassin’s intuition made him sense that something was off. With his Spiritual Vision, he scanned the room and detected a human silhouette in the bedroom.

The figure was female, standing with arms crossed and leaning against the wall, making no attempt to hide. Chen Ke pulled out his Model 67 pistol, approached the bedroom door, and gently pushed it open.

Moonlight streamed through the window, casting the shadow of a woman on the floor, who stood bathed in it, her back to the light, her whole body shrouded in darkness.

Although he couldn’t see her face, Chen Ke felt a familiar aura emanating from her.

"Identify yourself," Chen Ke said.

"Chen Ke... what do you think time is?" the woman asked.

Chen Ke recognized the voice and immediately guessed who it was, but he couldn’t be sure.

"You... weren’t you already dead?" Chen Ke said.

In his field of view, there was no information pop-up above the woman; she was a normal person.

"You still don’t understand death thoroughly enough, Chen Ke," the woman said, approaching him.

It was Xu Jing, the woman who had been dismembered by Corrigan in Hall No. 1.

"Where are Rama and Louis?" Chen Ke asked, his finger disengaging the safety on his gun.

He was unclear about the woman’s stance, but he was well aware of her extraordinary strength.

"Aren’t you missing one more? And there’s Sam, right?" Xu Jing said with a smile.

"You..." Chen Ke was startled. How could Xu Jing know so much?

"No need to hide it anymore, Chen Ke. They’ve told me everything, the events of the 2006 timeline, the disintegrated memes, and all that you’ve done," Xu Jing said.

"What have you done with them?" Chen Ke asked.

"I’ve transferred them to the meme treatment unit. You wouldn’t want the people you barely managed to save to turn into ashes, would you?" Xu Jing said.

"Are you with the Administration Bureau?" Chen Ke took a deep breath.

"No, I far exceed them... Chen Ke, I don’t want to waste words. We met at the research institute, so I’ll be blunt—I need your talent," Xu Jing said.

"What are you referring to?" Chen Ke asked.

"Time travel," Xu Jing said.

"Bullshit... I can’t time travel," Chen Ke said.

"Then how did you come back from 2006? To my understanding, drawing a circle on the spot is the most efficient method of time travel I’ve ever seen," Xu Jing said.

Chen Ke had nothing to say, those three people might have told Xu Jing everything about the year 2006.

It made sense—if Xu Jing used the bait of healing the ash symptoms to force them to spill all the details, Chen Ke couldn’t blame them.

"Give me a reason to help you, Xu Jing. You say you far exceed the Administration Bureau, so who exactly are you?" Chen Ke asked.

"I am an agent of the Human Cradle Plan Foundation, a spiritual energy organization from the future," Xu Jing said.
