Chapter 316 Time Observation
Chapter 316: Chapter 316 Time Observation
Chen Ke stopped on the deck. Previously, three planes had already fallen, and Conrad’s Night Cat operation had dispatched a total of six B52s. If this sea area was reasonable enough, would the barrier disappear after all six bombers crashed?
A drizzle began to fall, and the waves grew turbulent. It was unclear whether this was part of the barrier or simply bad luck, encountering poor weather.
A sudden burst of automatic rifle fire jerked Chen Ke back to reality. Continuous and chaotic gunshots emanated from the crew’s quarters below, indicating a fierce battle was underway.
Chen Ke glanced below the deck and saw crew members holding guns, firing incessantly in a certain direction. He furrowed his brow; perhaps it was Conrad’s son who had appeared again.
Dealing with such a monster, ordinary weapons were ineffective. Chen Ke wasn’t even sure if the Holy Relics would work, since the opponent was merely an advanced Illusion Technique, and he had a candlestick that could dispel illusions but lacked the intelligence to use it...
The outlines of crew members in the cabin were disappearing one by one, but no human screams were heard. After all, smugglers were tough characters, unlikely to cry out in fear; however, facing real monsters, their deaths were inevitable.
Chen Ke holstered his Type 67 Pistol, and with a flash of white light in his right hand, he summoned the Fire-igniting Broadsword. It was a Holy Relic with a flame attribute, which should be effective.
Chen Ke charged towards the crew’s quarters. Suddenly, a strong sense of danger made him stop; he couldn’t explain it, but he felt something was about to slice through him.
In the next second, a scorching brown-red beam shot out from the staircase, slicing from bottom to top and scorching a 2-centimeter wide gash on the deck. Chen Ke quickly rolled to the left, dodging the beam and kneeling on one knee as he looked up towards the staircase.
"Hmm...? What happened?" Chen Ke was startled and looked at the deck. Where was the 2-centimeter wide gash? Had it just been an illusion?
He stood up, about to walk towards the crew quarters, when suddenly a scorching brown-red beam shot out again from the staircase, slicing from bottom to top and scorching a 2-centimeter wide gash on the deck...
Chen Ke was dumbfounded. If he hadn’t rolled aside earlier, he would have definitely been sliced into two halves by now.
He looked carefully at the deck again; the 2-centimeter gash was truly real, and he could even see the crew members below firing towards the bow.
Chen Ke suddenly understood; he had prematurely seen what would happen 2 seconds later...
At that moment, three lines of small text appeared in the upper right corner of his vision:
"Time Observation unlocked..."
"Synchronization loss 6 seconds..."
Chen Ke looked at his own lifespan countdown, 92 hours 23 minutes 12 seconds, the whole color had turned a dark red, like the color of blood...
And under the lifespan countdown and Killing Aura Bar, three white dots had appeared, one of which had turned gray.
"Time Observation..." Chen Ke muttered to himself. This was a brand-new ability! Like the previous time stop, it was one of the time series abilities.
Chen Ke realized that the Killing Aura series skills hadn’t added anything new for a long time, while now, the ability to manipulate time was unlocked, becoming more and more outrageous.
"Let me be frank, the abilities granted by Chen Ke’s life countdown timer are not much used for directly enhancing combat power. Instead, they resemble more a series of functions that require him to apply them actively and creatively, like the Killing Aura Trigger and Life Engine."
"Such was the case with the two time series abilities that had been unlocked recently!"
"The Time Freeze, which pauses the flow of time of any touched object, along with the newly unlocked Time Observation, is incredibly powerful, but how it is used is completely up to Chen Ke."
"Moreover, in terms of lifespan consumption, it consumes as much time as it is used, equivalent to consuming a double portion of lifespan. However, this ability has a limit of three uses, and it was unclear when it would be restored."
"He did not know what criteria were used to unlock this novel ability since it was neither voluntary nor actively triggered on his part. It seemed as if the life countdown had some kind of underlying intelligence that might unlock a series of functions when the carrier faced extreme situations."
"Now was not the time to study this thing. Chen Ke, holding the Fire-igniting Broadsword in his right hand, charged into the crew’s rest cabin, ready to improvise when the time came!"
"No sooner had he entered the rest cabin than another heat ray shot forth, immediately slicing several crew members in half. Besides, the structure of the entire ship’s cabins was compromised as well."
"His gaze skipped over the crew members and spotted a white man dressed in an orange prison outfit at the front, his eyes emitting a red light. Multiple rounds from AKS7U assault rifles had no effect on him; the bullets tore into him like a sieve but couldn’t stop his actions."
"Ordinary Spiritual Ability Users were not immune to guns. Even someone at Diana’s level could be killed by guns, but they were toughskinned thanks to the protection of Holy Relics and Skills."
"But this one... appeared clearly as an illusion of an illegal Spiritual Ability User hunted during the Gulf War, stemming from Conrad’s nightmare, had progressed beyond the scope of a Spiritual Ability User and had turned into an utter monster."
"He did not know where Laura and Nathan were, but from the pile of bodies in front of this man, Chen Ke could not spot the two, perhaps they were hiding somewhere at the moment."
"Chen Ke needed to take this guy down immediately!"
"He squeezed past the retreating crew members, his left hand summoning Cassandra’s War Spear, and made a standard throwing motion. The war spear traced a purple halo in mid-air, swooshing toward the illusion’s chest of the illegal Spiritual Ability User."
"With a ’pu-chi’ sound, the spear effortlessly penetrated his chest and protruded slightly from his back, causing the illegal Spiritual Ability User to stagger backwards two steps. His eyes reddened as he directed his full firepower toward Chen Ke."
"Chen Ke summoned the shield in his left hand again, clanging it down in the narrow crew passageway, fiercely blocking the high-temperature beam."
"Simultaneously, Cassandra’s War Spear vanished from the chest of the illegal Spiritual Ability User and reappeared in Chen Ke’s hand, a characteristic feature of the spear allowing it to be recalled after being thrown."
"Chen Ke decided against using the Soul Gun, knowing that it was excessively powerful. The ship had already been damaged by the heat ray twice, and riddled extensively with bullets from more than ten AKS74Us, the surrounding cabin walls peppered with bullet holes, even allowing wind to leak in – he feared that one shot could finish the entire ship."
"Fortunately, the illegal Spiritual Ability User had not fired the heat ray toward the engine room, enabling the ship to continue running normally, and given his position at the forefront of the ship, his rays had not yet endangered the bridge."
"However, with his level of ability, if this continued, the ship was certain to sink."
"Chen Ke noticed the shield starting to redden, indicating that the temperature of the heat ray was not to be underestimated."
"Furthermore, even without touching the shield, he could feel the heat emanating from it – the center part even started to blacken, displaying on Chen Ke’s side a red, continuously expanding area of high heat."
"In other words, the shield would be burned through."
