Chapter 277: The Last Fan Hede

Chapter 277: Chapter 277: The Last Fan Hede

The church doors slammed shut with a bang, thick liquids churning and flames roaring from within.

Chen Ke rose to his feet, grabbing the blue greatsword the Pope had dropped. He hesitated, wondering if he should go inside to help, when suddenly, the entire space-time began to vibrate.

It was a literal vibration, similar to a magnitude seven earthquake, the intense jolting making it impossible for Chen Ke to stand. He had to crouch on the ground, while the buildings around him remained untouched.

Chen Ke crouched helplessly, unclear of what the vibrations meant. He picked a small part of his soul—if things went south, he would simply flee through the door.

The vibrations stopped at that moment.

Next came a fierce storm, the white sky instantly turning pitch black, the ground seemingly tilting.

Chen Ke felt that his senses were malfunctioning because, though he was sure he lay on the ground, the world in his sight had flipped upside down, and he was clinging to the ceiling like Spider-Man.

Gravity.

Chen Ke suddenly fell, and looking up, he saw the inverted world flicker with colorful neon, the background being devoured by inky nothingness.

Then, a purple light swept across his body, a giant red planet tearing through the dark night sky. He looked down to see himself hovering above the Abyss, the burning red planet slowly rotating.

Suddenly, the planet in front of Chen Ke exploded into countless burning meteorites scattering downward. He reached out to block them, but they were untouchable.

The dark, ink-like surroundings receded swiftly, and the feeling of freefall struck. He crashed onto the floor with a loud "bang".

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!" All of that had happened in an instant, and only now did Chen Ke scream.

Everything returned to normal. The church doors were wide open, ashes dancing in the air, the eternal daylight grim and dead, not a single cloud in the sky.

Chen Ke took a deep breath to calm down, struggled to his feet, and turned around to look at the broken bridge behind him, which still appeared as it had when he first stepped out.

He crawled to the edge of the bridge and looked down. The town below was in ruins, with the distant castle standing silently, all the buildings scorched pitch-black.

"Am I back?" Chen Ke murmured, afraid that he had been transported back to the original cycle.

He looked at the blue greatsword in his hand, which turned out to be a Holy Relic of purple quality.

[Moonlight]

[Durability: Poor]

[Eternal Blade: Incorruptible]

[Lunar Torrent: Releases a stored Magic Pulse from the blade, requires recharge after depleting energy](Cannot be triggered: Lack of intelligence)

[Magic Weapon: 100% of damage converted to Magic Attribute]

[Curse Blade: Can cause damage to all intangible Demon Spirits.]

[Mazville was a cold place whose residents mastered a dangerous magic and worshiped the moon as a deity. Decades ago, the Sun Sect Order burned the Moon Clan to the ground in the name of eradicating heresy.]

[One day, the Moonlight Greatsword will swing again. No matter where you go, just look up to see the Moonlight, no matter where you are, Moonlight is the distant homeland.]

Chen Ke picked up the greatsword. Now, he had a maximum of 35 hours of life left. Swinging these weapons was no longer an issue, but the problem of lacking intelligence was something Chen Ke couldn’t solve.

Intelligence is something one is born with. One could approach their intellectual upper limit through learning and practice, but no one could enhance their innate intelligence through later training.

Simply put, no matter how hard one tried, it’s impossible to reach the intellectual level of Einstein unless one was born that way.

Chen Ke shook his head—it just meant he couldn’t use the magic associated with the sword. Its other two special effects, however, were quite good. It could be used against intangible entities, and the damage the sword inflicted was entirely of Magic Attribute!

This effect was the most useful, as, in this world, there were many things impervious to physical attacks, but few that could resist magic.

Consider this sword compensation for your lost Unyielding Fury toward Faralis. Unfortunately, you couldn’t obtain the Pope’s soul. No... you and Faralis didn’t manage to kill the Pope...

Chen Ke, carrying the Moonlight Greatsword, walked into the church. At that moment, he realized Brother Discouraged had disappeared.

"Hmm...?" Chen Ke grew suspicious and looked around for a while, only to find that Parker was also missing!

Wait, could this place not be the first cycle of time and space? No, Chen Ke saw in the distance the moved statue of the Nightmare Goddess, under which the staircase led to the cave where Faralis was imprisoned.

He must have returned; had Brother Discouraged left? Where had Parker gone?

Chen Ke, stepping with a creaking sound, started searching inside the church. As he approached the statue, he saw Parker lying motionless on a bench.

"Hey! Parker..." Chen Ke hurriedly ran over, leaned the Moonlight against something, and pushed Parker.

At that moment, Parker lay face-up, his eyes dead fixed on the ceiling, not moving at all. Chen Ke felt Parker’s body was so stiff, almost as if he had been dead for a while.

Chen Ke looked up at the ceiling—there was nothing there—then back at Parker.

"Dead...? How...?" Chen Ke was confused. Could it be the beginning of time retaliating?

"Chen Ke... Chen Ke, are you over here?" Just as Chen Ke was puzzled, Parker suddenly spoke, though his body remained cold and stiff, his facial expression unchanged, only his mouth moving.

"What’s happening?! Who was sitting there? Did he do something to you?!" Chen Ke urgently asked.

"No... not that, Chen Ke, the situation seems a bit complicated. I don’t know where to start. Has the Administration Bureau dealt with something like this before?" Parker said.

Chen Ke could hear the anxiety, confusion, and fear in Parker’s voice.

"I don’t know... What’s your current condition? Can you move?" Chen Ke asked.

"It might sound unbelievable, but I feel like I’m not here... yet I am here... Damn it, I feel like a pile of ashes... but I can still feel my limbs... This feels terrible!" Parker said.

"What do you mean? You’re confusing me! What does it mean to be here but not be here?" Chen Ke frowned.

"My left eye sees the church’s ceiling; my right eye sees some laboratory. Damn it, what do you think this is?" Parker said.

"It sounds very complicated... At least from what I see, you’re lying on the bench... like a corpse..." Chen Ke said helplessly.

"I don’t know how long this will last, but I’m afraid I might completely go there soon... Over there, I’m just a pile of ash... Damn... what the hell is this..." Parker said.

"Just close your eyes and stop thinking about it... I’ll see if I can find any way..." Chen Ke shook his head, wondering what he could possibly do.

"Chen Ke... something happened here just now, felt like an earthquake. That person said he would try his best, then he left... I don’t know where he went, be careful, I saw him take a gun with him when leaving," Parker warned.

"I know... I’ll go find him, see what he knows... You stay here, don’t move..." Chen Ke said.

"I can’t move even if I want to... Chen Ke... listen, Chen Ke... I’m probably beyond saving... if there’s a chance, you should get out first..." Parker sighed.

"Parker... wait for me to come back, okay?!" Chen Ke said.

Parker’s eyeballs strained to turn towards Chen Ke.

"Okay!"

Chen Ke picked up the great sword lying beside him and walked out of the grand cathedral.

"Oh, Chen Ke..." Parker’s voice came from behind.

Chen Ke stopped and turned back with a nod.

"Your new armor is really ugly."
