Chapter 765: Chapter 624: The Power to Make a Deity Bleed_2
Once Bayer left, Goddess Tiamat spoke up.
Goddess Tiamat asked, "Look, even your subordinates feel something is amiss. You still have me sitting here, having tea with you, not at all afraid of being discovered by Hircine?"
Amberser laughed and said, "What, have you lied to Hircine?"
Goddess Tiamat fell silent for a moment before replying, "I really haven’t."
Amberser took a sip of the tea, and said very calmly, "Right, we haven’t lied at all. I’m planning a counterattack on The Abyss, and that’s the information you brought to Hircine. The army is already preparing and ready to leave at any moment."
It was no wonder Goddess Tiamat was puzzled, as this time, it was Amberser who had sought Her out, asking for Her help to send out a message.
Goddess Tiamat had already become indifferent to the messy affairs of Hell, content with the steady share of Soul Currency, not as concerned as Zariel.
As for Her hatred towards Amberser... letting go was impossible, a deity of the Evil Camp would never speak of forgiveness with you, but the hate wasn’t enough to kill Amberser immediately, nor was it an obsession consuming Her day and night.
This mild grudge dissipated once again after Amberser came forward with a generous amount of Soul Currency.
In order to make contact with the reclusive Evil Dragon Goddess, Amberser’s consciousness even descended upon Dragon Island, where he found Gareth, asking him to locate those Chromatic Dragons, and through the resonance of blood, obtained the method to summon Goddess Tiamat.
Normally the issues of Hell would be more than enough to keep Amberser busy. If not for the Magic Mirror which allowed Amberser to reach any place in an instant, he would have been truly overwhelmed.
Amberser really did take time out of his busy schedule, with such a roundabout method, and the gift was so lavish, Goddess Tiamat temporarily set aside Her displeasure and chose to have a chat with Amberser.
Amberser’s request was even more bizarre, asking Goddess Tiamat to find a way to spread the news of his counterattack on The Abyss.
However, the second request was that no matter who came to form an alliance with Her against him, Amberser hoped Goddess Tiamat would agree.
These two requests were very simple, hardly worth so many Soul Currency, which made Goddess Tiamat initially hesitant to accept. The Evil Dragon Goddess was afraid - afraid that avarice would lead Her right into Amberser’s trap.
In the end, Amberser used the old way, swearing by the honor of a Devil and made a contract with Goddess Tiamat, assuring Her of his complete lack of ill intentions towards the Evil Dragon Goddess.
That was when Goddess Tiamat carefully accepted the offer and fulfilled Amberser’s requests.
Goddess Tiamat must have not understood why Amberser wanted Her to spread the news. The movements of Hell’s forces couldn’t be hidden from the Demons. Even if Goddess Tiamat didn’t tell, that information couldn’t remain secret.
But soon, Goddess Tiamat understood what Amberser had meant, as well as what the second request implied.
Hircine approached, hoping for cooperation, and the reasoning of the Prince of Lies was plain. Since Goddess Tiamat was spreading news disadvantageous to Amberser, it surely meant the Evil Dragon Goddess still harbored resentment - after all, She had been tricked many times, nearly becoming a tale of shame.
Goddess Tiamat wanted to say, as the Prince of Lies, can’t you sense when others lie? Do you not detect the scent of devious plots?
Now, hearing what Amberser had said, Goddess Tiamat realized the situation.
Does She still resent this Deceiver? Of course, She did. If Amberser was down on his luck, Goddess Tiamat wouldn’t hesitate to kick him while he was down.
So, did She have any plots against Hircine?
Not at all. Amberser’s request was simply for Goddess Tiamat to welcome all comers, to agree to work with anyone seeking mischief. There were no other demands. Amberser hadn’t even asked Goddess Tiamat to relay messages to him and had not inquired about Hircine’s plans from the start.
In the end, all Goddess Tiamat did was spread a message unfavorable to Amberser and agreed to collaborate with Hircine - even Her inner hatred was real.
Complete truth, without a touch of falsehood, maybe it made sense for the Prince of Lies to find nothing amiss.
Goddess Tiamat asked, "But I still think it’s abnormal. Hircine should be able to sense your malice. The moment you start preparing a scheme, He should already feel it, without needing to find clues from me."
Amberser replied with a slight smile, "Of course Hircine knows I want to deal with Him. I’ve been thinking about how to solve Him ever since I was a mortal. This plot has long begun, and I think Hircine has never overlooked it. But after all, I am a mortal who is qualified to share in the Deity Position of lies. Hircine can only sense it, but can never know exactly what I’ve done.
"So, in Hircine’s eyes, I’ve been scheming against Him from the Mortal Realm to Hell without any change. And you, the Evil Dragon Goddess, are also my enemy and haven’t lied to Him - how could Hircine possibly know where the problem lies? No, more like, even you do not know what I’m plotting, right?"
Goddess Tiamat had to admit it, She still had no idea about Amberser’s specific plans, but She was starting to feel that familiar chill creeping up Her spine.
In the heart of the Evil Dragon Goddess, the name ’Deceiver’ weighed more heavily than that of the Prince of Lies.
She had carelessly boarded his stolen ship again, yet knew nothing about it.
