Chapter 698: Chapter 599: Recognition of the Hell Law

Watching Amberser’s indifferent reply, the Grand Duke of Hell Mammon from the Third Level of Hell fell into deep thought.

When did mortals dare to speak to him this way?

Moreover, this time he was clearly in the right.

In the past, even when he was wrong, he could naturally exploit these mortals. So why was it that now, when he was clearly right, he was still ridiculed by this damned bastard?

Mammon found he had no solution at all.

Divestment was impossible. He had invested too much in the Hell Bank, having practically thrown his entire fortune into it. The economy of the Third Level of Hell had reached an unprecedented state of prosperity due to reckless lending, causing the price of everything there to skyrocket. Hell Lords were using Soul Currency to start purchasing across regions from other levels of Hell, forming a brand-new hellish trade system.

Mammon was close to dragging the other Grand Dukes of Hell down with him through the Hell Bank, intending to become the most influential devil in Hell with the Soul Currency in his hands.

Was this the endpoint of his great ambitions, only to have such an incident occur out of the blue?

When he saw those numbers jumping chaotically on the Magic Mirror, Mammon’s soul smoked with rage.

For the first time in many years, Mammon felt such fear; he was genuinely terrified, his very heart trembling in his chest. The entire Third Level of Hell experienced terrible natural disasters due to its master’s emotions — hurricanes ravaged lands, earthquakes erupted in places, and there were volcanic eruptions and more.

Mammon could not be bothered to calm these disasters; he only worried about his own enterprise. If the Hell Bank were destroyed, everything would be ruined, and his suffering would exceed death itself.

Although Amberser had resolved the issue in a short amount of time, and many devils hadn’t had the chance to check the changes in their balances or notice any problems with the Magic Mirror,

this was a major crisis, and he had to make this damned bastard explain himself.

Divest?

Divestment was impossible; Mammon couldn’t divest, but he also couldn’t swallow his pride.

Unable to hold back, Mammon drew a fiery circle, wanting to find Zariel. After all, it was Zariel who spearheaded the Hell Bank venture, and now that there was a problem, Zariel had to come forward no matter what — he had to give that mortal a lesson.

However, Mammon was surprised that, after waiting for a long time, he received no response from Zariel.

It wasn’t until Mammon teleported directly to the first layer of hell and knocked on the doors of Zariel’s palace that he finally saw the ruler of the first layer of hell.

Upon meeting again, Mammon said with a puzzled face, "What’s going on, Zariel, what’s the matter with you?"

Zariel still sat casually on the bronze throne, propping up his head with his fist, appearing entirely bored. However, Mammon felt there was something off about Zariel but couldn’t quite pinpoint it.

Zariel said irritably, "What do you want, aren’t you busy making money?"

Mammon said in surprise, "You don’t know? There was a problem with the Magic Mirror, and we almost had a big mess!"

Mammon could only explain the incident with the Magic Mirror’s account display error, but Zariel remained indifferent, retorting, "Didn’t you say it was repaired? Is your dividend short?"

Mammon looked at Zariel with bewilderment. This attitude was problematic. Wasn’t Zariel the one who hated that guy the most at the beginning? Why now did he seem so nonchalant, as if the matter didn’t concern him?

Mammon asked directly, "Zariel, what exactly are you up to? Don’t you think there’s any problem at all?"

Zariel casually remarked, "What could be the problem? Regarding the Hell Bank, haven’t I already been kicked out by you all? As long as my dividend hasn’t decreased, what do the other matters have to do with me?"

Mammon listened angrily. Though he had kicked Zariel out earlier and seized most of the control for himself, now that there was a problem, why shouldn’t the shareholders care?

Even if Mammon had been wrong before, didn’t Zariel have any issues of his own? He was kicked out for not being able to manage the accounts, which meant he was inadequate.

That was always the devil’s logic: If I trick you, it’s because you’re naïve. When I’m at a disadvantage, it’s your fault.

Adhering to the terms did not mean they could afford to lose in spirit; they merely gritted their teeth and acknowledged their loss, while cursing you a thousand times in their hearts.

But faced with Zariel, Mammon could only curse inwardly. They were all Grand Dukes of Hell, in control of different realms, and none could do anything to the others.

Mammon said angrily, "Hmph, you won’t help me today, but when it’s your turn to suffer next time, don’t come crying and begging me!"

Zariel responded with disdain, "It was you who insisted on joining from the start. Now you’ve encountered trouble and come to me? Fine, then I’ll ask you, even if you want trouble with him, what can you do to him now? Kidnap his daughter?"

"Why not?" Mammon said coldly. "That’s precisely my plan. The Lich hides in the Magic Mirror, and I can’t deal with him, but he has family, friends, and business — a little lesson is enough."

Zariel smiled and said, "Then go ahead, I won’t stop you. And I can tell you, his daughter is currently bravely fighting at the Blood River Battlefield, and her valor has even shocked Bayer."

A beam of light flew from Zariel’s hand, turning into a vast map, depicting the current situation at the Blood River Battlefield.

A portion of it rapidly enlarged to reveal a live view of the battlefield.

There, Melina shrouded in blue light led the charge, her Flaming Longsword slicing through one demon after another — none could stand in her path.
