Chapter 682: Chapter 593 The Highest Realm of Lies_2

"Hircine? Prince of Lies?!"

Amberser had heard this name before; previously, Lady of Mist Laila had mentioned it, hoping Amberser could help her kill this Deity.

But Amberser had refused at the time. Hircine possessed powerful Divine Power, and ordinary deities would not dare to confront him. As a mere mortal, how could Amberser possibly kill this Deity?

Later, Amberser used the Dark Clergy to resurrect Laila, albeit reluctantly repaying the favor for using the Dreamweave Barrier.

After that, Amberser never had any association with this Prince of Lies.

Upon mentioning Hircine, even the usually composed Lord of the Dawn showed a hint of disgust.

"This lunatic has had his sights on you for a long time, or should I say, he has always been targeting Yeg. You must be aware of Hircine’s relationship with the Grim Reaper, right?" the Lord of the Dawn asked.

"I’ve heard a bit. Hircine once shared the Grim Reaper’s authority," Amberser responded humbly.

According to stories circulating in the streets, Hircine was detested by gods and ghosts alike. His enemies included Lord Rosanda of the Dawn, Lord of Knowledge Ogma, Magic Goddess Mistrall, Grim Reaper Kranvo, and God of Justice Tyr, among other deities.

These deities had something in common—a standard feature of powerful Divine Power, including the exceptionally strong Divine Power of Mistrall and Ogma.

Together, this force would make even Talos step aside.

Yet Hircine was alive and well, indicating the capabilities of this Prince of Lies.

It was precisely because the Prince of Lies was so formidable that Amberser had unhesitatingly refused Laila’s request. Killing the Prince of Lies was even more difficult than his own ascension to powerful Divine Power.

"Hircine is a madman, but his previous madness was traceable. However, lately, his actions have become exceedingly abnormal. You were once a key member of the Elegy Poetry Society, and he has had his eyes on you for a long time. Now that you’ve accepted this Resurrection Scroll from Aeo, he will undoubtedly target you more crazily."

"Ah? That sounds like it’s not just because the scroll is precious. Could it be that Hircine needs this scroll to resurrect someone important?" Amberser asked, puzzled.

The Lord of the Dawn was silent for a moment before saying, "Hircine... He believes he is Aeo, or perhaps an existence above Aeo. Therefore, anything related to Aeo attracts his attention; he will snatch it and then destroy it."

Amberser’s eyeballs nearly popped out upon hearing this.

"How could he possibly think he is Aeo? Wouldn’t Aeo smack him dead with a slap?" Amberser asked in surprise.

It doesn’t matter if mortals curse Aeo, for in the eyes of the Supreme God, mortals are less than ants, merely like air. Because in all of creation by the Supreme God, mortals are just one of many.

But deities absolutely dare not, for Aeo is always watching you.

There have been fools who angered Aeo, and the result was a severe lesson for all deities; billions of deities were demoted to mortals and thrown into the Mortal Realm to partake in a brutal survival game. No one knows how many deities perished during that tumultuous era.

This is the Wrath of Aeo.

What confidence does Hircine have to sit as an equal with Aeo?

"Is the Prince of Lies’s power that great?" Amberser asked.

"Of course not. He is merely a rat in the gutter, particularly good at hiding," the Lord of the Dawn said disdainfully.

"Then why on earth?"

"I don’t know, but Aeo seems not to care about his blasphemy, perhaps just too lazy to bother with a true madman."

The Lord of the Dawn was unable to answer this question either. Deities are not all-knowing or omnipotent, let alone predicting Aeo’s thoughts, as this Supreme God is forever unfathomable.

Amberser was speechless; was this Supreme God magnanimously broad-minded or just purely lazy?

"However crazy, he wouldn’t actually think of himself as Aeo. Is there any explanation for this?" Amberser asked.

This was a secret among deities, and Amberser felt he was about to hear some earth-shattering secret.

The Lord of the Dawn had no intention of hiding anything from his archenemy, saying with a hint of mockery, "Aren’t you well-acquainted with that Koutao Mermaid Goddess, who also claims to be an Ancient God, wielding power greater than the Magic Goddess with her Ancient Magic? Hircine is the same. He simply believes it himself.

"Mind you, Brivodoup was born from the madness of the Koutao, so him becoming a madman is not strange. Hircine’s madness, however, is entirely his own doing. Have you ever heard of the ’Shire Scripture’?"

As if his ears heard some extremely repulsive words, Amberser only felt his soul burning.

"What is that? Just hearing about it makes me feel extremely uncomfortable."

The Lord of the Dawn explained, "A scripture personally written by Hircine. He attempts to use this book to turn all mortals and deities into his fanatic followers. To some extent, he has succeeded. Even true deities, if not resolute enough, would be brainwashed by Hircine upon reading this scripture and completely become his fanatical devotees, seeing him as the Supreme God of everything.

"If a mortal read it, they would permanently suffer mental corruption. Even if you resist the hypnotic effect of this scripture, your mental faculties would be severely damaged, becoming idiotic. Only a Wishing Spell can repair such damage.

"Because the content of this book is so wicked, Ogma had to personally write a ’Shire True Transmission’ using his own Divine Power to counteract the influence of the ’Shire Scripture’."
