Chapter 642: Chapter 564 A New Destiny Appears
As a basis for cooperation, Parurier proposed a bold and direct method.
"If you want to influence the Blood War, then you first need to immerse yourself in it."
"Melina’s territory is still too small; it must be expanded again. This madwoman took out a map of the area near the Blood River, made a casual stroke, and expanded Melina’s land by dozens of times."
"This area contains several of the most convenient routes to and from the Blood River. If we seize them, all the rogue demons in this war zone will become our prey. With this territory, our army can directly open up new battlefields here, and the Blood River Fortress would even have to cooperate with us..."
Parurier’s fingers left a series of marks on the Magic Mirror.
It was simple and straightforward, and even Amberser, who was not very knowledgeable about military affairs, could understand what Parurier’s strategic goal was.
This madwoman even knew how to lead troops; she had not been idle over the years.
As Parurier finished modifying the map, Melina’s territory became a vast frontline, like a tentacle that could at any moment reach deep into the main battlefield area of the Blood River Battlefield. She had even listed the troop deployment for each area.
Amberser understood, but he shook his head and said, "Bayer is not so easy to persuade. And besides, I want to end the Blood Battle. What is the point of your joining?"
"The Blood Battle has been ongoing for so long, but for all of Hell, it is really just a minor skirmish. The Nine Layers of Hell are bigger than many planes combined; the Blood River is just a small part. Everywhere in the Nine Layers of Hell is embroiled in constant strife and wars of all sizes; it’s just that the Blood Battle is more intense," Parurier retorted.
"Right now, no one knows how to sever the tributaries of the Nether River, but I know that this battlefield is only the surface part of the plane connection. Infinite demons surge up from the depths of the earth; the real connection must be deep underground. We will have to enter it sooner or later, without a stable retreat prepared in advance, we’ll end up like Zariel who fell into Hell."
Indeed, there was some sense in that. Whether this madwoman was looking for fun or something else, in any case, it was in her hands now.
If it were not for Parurier, Amberser would not rashly expand the territory, mainly because he couldn’t manage it all himself.
Amberser had never been a jack-of-all-trades; he had just witnessed a few thousand years of social changes, and his ability to bamboozle in this half-serfdom, half-feudal world seemed quite advantageous. But if you really had to say what was particularly great about him, it would just be a little bit of casting talent.
But Parurier was different, this woman was a lunatic, but there was nothing she couldn’t accomplish if she truly wanted to do it well.
Since she had guaranteed to bring back a greater territory and better management for Melina, it was perfect for Amberser to leave the matter to her.
As for Melina, it would be best for her to continue listening, thinking, and speaking less. Being a lord was really a bit too much for her.
With one of Harvey’s notebooks solving the biggest trouble, Amberser felt relieved. Parurier, if used well, was a sharp blade.
"The matter of expanding the territory is yours to handle; what do you need?" Amberser asked.
Parurier laughed heartily and said, "I need nothing, they’re just a few dozen Hell Lords. I will make them offer their loyalty. However, as a reward, for every piece of territory I bring back, you will have your student give me a lesson."
Amberser nodded and said, "Harvey can’t set foot in Hell; he can only teach through the Magic Mirror."
"No problem, I’m not eyeing his pretty face. Besides, your student is far better than you; you really got lucky. I’ve never once met someone smarter than me."
"Heh, not everyone exchanges their reason for intelligence," Amberser mocked.
Parurier, staring at Amberser, said, "It’s been many years since we’ve met, and your tongue is still as sharp as ever. Initially, it was your provocation that made me fail casting the Wishing Spell."
"You see, you still haven’t grasped the true essence of fate. Whether you were provoked back then, asleep, or completely unaffected, the outcome would have been the same. Fates that are set cannot be changed by anyone... oh, except Aeo."
Parurier, with a contemplative look, left with the Little Demon who had been bewildered throughout the whole process.
Once the madwoman had vanished, Amberser looked towards the Soul Coin that had rolled into the corner.
The coin rested against the corner, not fallen, not showing heads or tails, maintaining the rules that Parurier had set for herself.
Amberser knew that he did not control the future of this coin, as if some outrageous destiny had been written, and the Goddess of Fate was still protecting him, sparing him trouble.
This only made Amberser seem more like a scoundrel.
But, trash is trash.
After all, the Goddess of Fate has encountered plenty of jerks, so She’s probably used to it by now.
Although they had agreed on a collaboration, Harvey was not yet aware of the arrangement, and Amberser needed to give the student a heads-up, as well as make some preparations in advance.
Even if communication was through the Magic Mirror, Parurier was skilled in all kinds of techniques for manipulating the heart, and she had mastered more than one method of hypnosis capable of rendering someone completely compliant and puppet-like without their awareness, even from the time when she was still mortal.
If Harvey was not careful, he could very well end up completely devoured by this mad woman.
The image in the Magic Mirror flashed, and Amberser appeared in the Prime Material Plane’s Golden Desert.
It was the familiar Underground Alchemy Factory. In his absence, the factory had operated smoothly. Although Harvey was not versed in alchemy, he understood the importance of cooperation, having fully transferred the management of the underground facility to Isabel and immersed himself in research.
When Amberser’s image appeared in the Magic Mirror on Harvey’s desk, the young man had transformed into a disheveled vagrant.
"Harvey, what happened to you?"
The sound of Amberser’s voice made Harvey lift his head from the pile of documents, his face now covered with unruly stubble, his hair greasy and clumped, his hands and sleeves smeared with ink, and his clothes looked like they hadn’t been changed in ages.
"Teacher!"
Harvey called out with excitement.
"Would it kill you to use a Cleaning Technique?"
Amberser cast a spell on the spot, removing much of the grime from Harvey’s body, then launched into him, "I wasn’t even this filthy when I was a Lich. You were fine the last time I saw you, how did you end up like this after just half a month? Let me tell you, some diseases even Divine Arts can’t cure."
Amberser had not kept the news of his resurrection from Harvey, but the last time they met, though the kid was excited, he still looked human. Little did he know that after his own resurrection, Harvey seemed to have let everything go.
Scratching his head awkwardly, Harvey shook free a collection of dead fleas.
"Teacher, I’m sorry, I’ve had some breakthroughs recently."
Harvey wasn’t always this unkempt, but the burden lifted by Amberser’s resurrection had allowed him to relax immensely, which in turn caused him to dive even deeper into his research, completely neglecting everything else.
Amberser reminded him, "You’re just a mage; your constitution isn’t much stronger than an average person’s, and continuing like this will kill you."
It’s acceptable to immerse oneself in research, but without someone to look after you while forsaking sleep and food, even Legendary Mages can work themselves to death. That’s why Mage’s Towers always have a bunch of Magipuppet Automatons to take care of daily living needs.
"Alright, teacher, I’ll be more careful from now on."
"Just saying it doesn’t help, why don’t you bring that half-breed Zor Beastman back? You can afford it now," Amberser said.
Harvey’s face turned red, and he quickly responded, "Wouldn’t that just make me die even faster?"
"Oh, that’s true," Amberser nodded, dropping the joke and ready to discuss Parurier with Harvey.
However, Harvey was more anxious than Amberser, excitedly saying to him, "Teacher, my recent research has made a breakthrough, look at this!"
Harvey moved a glass jar over, inside of which was a shimmering Soul Fragment, the remnants from when Mr. Misfortune had banished himself from his own homeland.
Amberser had always kept it, but the chances of this Soul Fragment being fully restored were none.
And now, the Soul Fragment seemed larger than before.
Amberser’s eyes widened in shock, and he exclaimed, "Harvey, what have you done?!"
