Chapter 484: Chapter 448: Sending the Goddess Off

Perhaps it was because Amberser had begun to feel that something was awry, or maybe it was Katherine’s pure soul that had finally influenced him, causing him to start feeling that what he was doing was not right.

Sending Airel to replace Aeolus sounded like a good plan, but upon closer consideration, the likelihood of failure was not small.

First was Talos’s attitude—would He be willing to watch the scenario unfold again?

Moreover, Airel was not a loner like Aeolus; the Koutao Mermaid Goddess could easily deceive Aeolus, but Airel had a kingdom backing her.

Even if the kingdom had fewer people, the Kuotuo Murlocs were not something they could manipulate at will.

Finally, there was Airel’s personality to consider.

Her Royal Highness the Princess of the Fury Tide Kingdom was much tougher than Aeolus—she was a valiant woman who dared to challenge her own father to a duel with a hammer; she was not easily manipulated like Aeolus, and when angered, she would dare to swing her hammer and slaughter all the Kuotuo Murlocs.

Thinking this through, Amberser felt like he might indeed have chosen wrongly; when he was slowly losing his humanity, he did not consider these things.

"My original plan was to have you help me control those Kuotuo Murlocs, forcing the Koutao Mermaid Goddess to have a face-to-face meeting with me, and then to propose this plan to her. But now, it seems I have made a mistake."

The Kuotuo Murlocs belonged to the species with particularly low intelligence; therefore, they were almost completely defenseless against Katherine’s charm abilities.

Looking at Katherine, the Kuotuo Murlocs might forget their own goddess, forcing the Koutao Mermaid Goddess to come and negotiate with him.

This was precisely the reason why Amberser needed Katherine, but now the plan needed to be changed. Airel was not the focus; Amberser needed to consider another way to satisfy Talos’s perverse taste.

However, how could he satisfy Talos?

As Amberser pondered, he realized that the Black Tide had already reached its destination.

Below was a gloomy expanse of seawater, with countless bubbles surging up from the seabed, making the ocean seem as if it were boiling.

This area was where a large number of Kuotuo Murlocs lived.

Kuotuo Murlocs differed greatly from other sea tribes: most of them were amphibious.

They occasionally appeared on the beach, using sand and all sorts of messy things to construct divine idols, which they would then worship on their own accord.

Beneath this marine region lay a seabed gouged out like a honeycomb, with bubbles constantly emerging at the depths. These bubbles would fill into these cavities, forming very peculiar semi-submerged caves.

The lower half was water, and swimming upwards inside the cave would lead to an abundance of air.

Amberser did not know if this place had been intentionally modified to this state, he only knew that the Kuotuo Murlocs preferred such a living environment.

Now that they had arrived, according to the plan, he was to dive into the ocean with Katherine, attempting to find the Koutao Mermaid Goddess.

But with the plan changed, Amberser wanted to leave.

He would think of a better approach later.

Yet, before the Black Tide could turn to leave, the boiling ocean first conjured a massive vortex, the water inexplicably rising a hundred meters, forming a circle of tall water walls that trapped Amberser’s Black Tide within.

Immediately after, in the center of the vortex, the form of a giant lobster-headed female emerged, composed entirely of seawater, exuding a semblance of majesty.

"It’s you, you dare to appear before me!"

A shrill, grating voice pierced the shell of the Black Tide, directly entering the souls of both Amberser and Katherine, causing them a great deal of discomfort.

This was the power of a deity: even without using any attack spells, merely releasing their might unrestrainedly was enough to make mortals suffer greatly.

Though Brivodoup, wielding Intermediate Divine Power like the God of Alchemy, seemed to have a more aggressive presence; just the manifestation of His avatar made Amberser feel the magic power in the surroundings twisting and changing.

This was Brivodoup’s domain; within this domain, casting spells would almost invariably lead to unpredictable results.

Amberser might be able to barely ensure his spellcasting success rate with the Dice of Destiny, but such action would consume a lot of his power, and he wouldn’t be able to sustain many spells at full strength.

Amberser never expected that he wouldn’t need to bring Katherine at all, as the Koutao Mermaid Goddess had made herself known first.

Thereupon, why not just have a talk with Her?

Knowing that the Koutao Mermaid Goddess could hear him, Amberser didn’t even come out of the Black Tide. He directly addressed the Koutao Mermaid Goddess, "Respected Mother of the Sea, I come today for the sake of peace, I implore you to restrain your power and anger."

However, the goddess did not give Amberser a chance to negotiate, roaring, "You are a well-known charlatan, despicable Undead, lowly mortal, what right do you have to negotiate with me? Your only fate for coming here is to endure my wrath and then become excrement at the bottom of the sea!"

The pillars of sea surge rose to another level, and within the torrents, numerous Kuotuo Murlocs mingled, rising with the current. When the height was about right, these Kuotuo Murlocs hurled themselves toward Amberser’s Black Tide.

Tens of thousands of Kuotuo Murlocs lunged from the towering sea surge like a swarm of wasps flying out of their nest, thickly clustering as they closed in.

Amberser could only curse the madness before commanding the Black Tide to engage in battle.

Dozens of cannon barrels extended from both sides of the Black Tide, spitting out a great deal of specially made bullets.
