Chapter 473: Chapter 441: A World Where the Winds Rise and the Clouds Surge
Amberser was a man who never forgot his initial purpose, no matter where he was or what he was doing, his ultimate goal was always to make more money.
Since the Orcs and the Laine had started fighting, such an important event was too good an opportunity to make money to miss.
Last time when the Laine waged war on the Orcs, Amberser was busy handling the Deity Position of the Rose Spider Queen. This bigger business was more important than profiting from war, which is why he missed that chance.
By the time Amberser had a moment to spare, the Orcs had already been defeated by the Laine.
Now the timing was perfect, as the Orcs had won back some ground, returning both sides to a state of evenly matched strength, creating a market for Amberser’s Undead Troop.
It’s likely the Orcs wouldn’t mind an extra batch of cannon fodder to deplete the Laine’s Holy Light, and if these Orcs were unwilling, Amberser wouldn’t mind having a chat with the Laine either. Undead weren’t just good for fighting Paladins; they’d definitely be more efficient at killing Orcs.
But he needed a middleman.
Amberser thought it over and realized he didn’t know anyone from the Orcs’ side.
To be precise, it might be more accurate to say that all the Orcs Amberser knew should all be dead.
Initially, Amberser only harbored hatred toward the Orcs, and the task of revenge had long been accomplished, so he really didn’t know many people from that side.
But the problem wasn’t too big, as Amberser had an exceptionally broad network of contacts.
Moreover, this network of contacts was so extensive that Amberser didn’t need to seek out the connections himself; Gustavo Flint had already taken the initiative to come to him.
The unsmiling face of this dark-skinned Alchemist appeared on the Magic Mirror, and without a word of small talk, he said to Amberser, "I have connections with the Orcs. I want to sell your Undead Troop to the Orcs, who are very generous right now and from whom we can make a good profit."
Amberser immediately smiled and said, "Exactly, I was thinking the same. I didn’t expect you to have connections with the Orcs."
"Back in the day, Alchemy City’s products were marketed to all kingdoms, except the Emerald Dream Forest. So, in short, can you work overtime recently to produce Pseudo-Souls?"
Gustavo Flint’s biggest concern was precisely this.
After obtaining the Artifactual Coin, Gustavo Flint had conducted numerous experiments to change its nature.
He eventually concluded that the cost Amberser had boasted about before didn’t seem to be exaggerated. This made Gustavo Flint see Amberser in a new light.
The Lich seemed very fond of money, but after entering into cooperation, he was quite honest, at least not overcharging him by too much in terms of cost.
But this Divine Artifact Coin really burned through money, and without making some back quickly, he felt a bit stretched.
"I thought you would encourage the Dwarf King to place an order first," Amberser said.
Gustavo Flint had already mentioned moving through the Dwarves to hope to make some money first to cover costs.
But with no news from the Dwarves and having brought up the business with the Orcs first, this came as a surprise to Amberser.
Gustavo Flint said, "Business that can definitely be secured can wait, but we need to act quickly on deals that require competition to secure, am I right? Besides, the Dwarf King also needs more evidence to prove that your Undead are really effective. After all, our enemies are the Laine."
Amberser nodded in agreement with this view.
Undead fighting Paladins indeed sounded unreliable, so it was normal for the Dwarf King to doubt.
Amberser asked, "Do you plan to sell the Trash Fish Army to the Orcs?"
"That’s just one of the products and also our most profitable. However, can Undead designed for the sea be suitable for land use?" Gustavo Flint said with some concern, as this was the first time they would be exporting products, and any issues could greatly affect the brand.
"The Trash Fish Army has a good effect in the sea because the buoyancy of sea water allows these Undead to float in it. But if used on land, they can only be dropped directly from the sky, which will reduce the effect. Don’t worry though; our low cost is our advantage. Plus, I can lend an Airship for high-altitude drops and bombardments..."
Amberser had already considered the use of Undead Troops on land; while the Trash Fish Army couldn’t move freely in the air, they could orient themselves during a fall, so dropping them from high altitudes would still be highly accurate.
But the effectiveness might not be great, as the Laine People’s equipment was very good, far surpassing those of the sea-floor races that rely solely on their tough skin.
Humans on land have the advantage of making fire, so forging metal comes naturally.
The sea creatures could only rely on Scales as armor, at best wearing some seashells.
Therefore, the Trash Fish Army either had to be outfitted with metallic tips on a large scale, or rely on the toxic attacks from the shattered Air Undead.
The Laine People might be able to purify such toxins using the power of Holy Light, but the Trash Fish Army was called trash for a reason; they weren’t expected to cause much damage to begin with. These Undead were disposable, and as long as they could massively deplete the Laine People’s Holy Light energy, the deal would be worthwhile.
Even the most powerful Paladins and Light Priests have a limit to their magic power.
"The Orcs’ combat strength is not weak, and the fact that they can counterattack the Laine shows they are ready for full-scale war. We’re just selling mercenaries, not the key factor in deciding the outcome of the battlefield. As long as the product is worth the customers’ Gold Coins, that’s all that matters," Amberser concluded.
Gustavo Flint agreed wholeheartedly with Amberser’s summary; this is what an Alchemist should do. Once the goods were sold, it was up to the customer to decide how to use them, as long as there were no quality issues— the Alchemists wouldn’t concern themselves with that.
