Chapter 458: Chapter 430 Miscellaneous Fish Type One
The massive and dark army of Kuotuo Murlocs plunged into the gloomy trench, becoming an unmanageable swarm.
These seemingly dumb and stupid Kuotuo Murlocs soon encountered the magic attacks of the Mermaid troops; Magic Missiles, Ice Shock, Chain Lightning, etc., causing the Kuotuo Murlocs to fall in disarray.
Even though they were ambushed, the Kuotuo Murlocs seemed to have a high resistance to these magic attacks. The same spells that would blow Sharkwa Fishmen into pieces only wounded the Kuotuo Murlocs without killing them outright.
And when the Kuotuo Murlocs were attacked, they started to panic, their large fish heads emitting all sorts of bizarre cries that, aside from being ear-piercing, also distracted the Mermaids, affecting the speed of their spellcasting.
The Kuotuo Murlocs had no real tactics, but they had a large number of Bloodline Sorcerers.
Mana Bursts granted by the deranged goddess exploded incessantly, each carrying unpredictable effects of Ferocious Magic—meaning random outcomes.
Sometimes they could turn a Mermaid into a small animal or freeze targets in ice; there might be healing effects or various enhancements... and these effects could also happen to the Kuotuo Murlocs themselves.
The Kuotuo Murlocs were stupid and chaotic at the same time.
The Koutao Mermaid Goddess emerged from the chaos of the Kuotuo Murlocs and in return granted them even more chaos.
During that simulated battle earlier, the Elves, controlling the Mermaid Tribe, were on the verge of victory, when suddenly a large-area Charm effect illogically caused a lot of Roca Murlocs to defect and instead defeat the Mermaids.
Although the Kuotuo Murlocs also suffered heavy losses, they were eventually won by this bunch of idiots.
The victory was inexplicable, and so was the defeat.
After this battle, the Mermaid High Priestess warned the Elves present, "That’s why you should never confront Kuotuo Murlocs head-on. You’ll never know how you lost."
Until now, in the military drill, Laine, Silvermoon Tribunal, and Impure Chant—three kingdoms took turns on the field, and without exception, all were defeated. In twenty-eight battles in total, the Mermaid High Priestess remained undefeated, each time demonstrating the cruelty of the ocean.
Once proud and arrogant, all the commanders became much more subdued.
Warfare in the deep sea isn’t that simple; they knew there was a great difference between land and sea but didn’t realize it would be to such an extent—almost necessitating a complete change of land-based military doctrines.
After several practical drills, they all gained some insight and deepened their understanding of the sea. Just as they were eager to continue the exercises, Amberser said to the Mermaid High Priestess, "Thank you for your hard work. That will be all for today’s drill. Please go and rest. If you’re interested, you can also experience this Connected Dream Realm. Here, you can fantasize about any pleasure that exists in reality."
The Mermaid High Priestess was about to say she wasn’t very tired, but thinking it over, she hadn’t slept well for many days. The dream realm was indeed magical, so it was a good opportunity to experience it in detail since she might not get the chance again.
The Mermaid High Priestess and her subordinates exited, but Amberser didn’t let the commanders leave. Instead, he cheerfully said to them, "My friends, let’s move on to the second phase of the drill."
Everyone looked puzzled; the Lich had no experience either, and without the Mermaid consultant, what could he do?
Amberser guessed their thoughts and said honestly, "I know what you’re thinking, but rest assured, I’m not an amateur leading professionals. All the details of the battles just now have been recorded, and I will continue with the simulations based on what happened. Only this time, the troops you control will be different."
Amberser waved his hand and a droplet-sized torpedo appeared before everyone.
"What is this?" Elf King Aldarian asked, sensing the darkness of the Undead emanating from it.
Amberser replied, "Just a slightly unusual form of a small Skeleton."
Aldarian sneered, "Your skeletons are made of metal?"
Without hesitation, Amberser countered, "Are you the Lich or am I? Do you understand skeletons or do I?"
Aldarian immediately shut his mouth, realizing it was foolish to argue with this Lich.
Amberser demonstrated the torpedo’s mode of action, its jet-propelled movement so fast that it startled everyone.
"This is a long-range attack Alien Skeleton; it’s relatively cheap to make, and it’s fish-shaped, so I call it Miscellaneous Fish Type One. It’s expendable, and you can use it like arrows."
Amberser conjured a Sharkwa Fishman and launched Miscellaneous Fish Type One at it. The great impact force pierced right through the Sharkwa Fishman’s body, and due to the force, Miscellaneous Fish Type One’s head slightly cracked, releasing the "Seawater Undead" contained within, which permeated into the wound.
The Sharkwa Fishman, which could have survived the injury, soon struggled in pain under the onslaught of the Undead’s potent poison and died completely within seconds.
The crowd was unable to gauge the power of this weapon, as killing a Sharkwa Fishman was hardly a significant feat, but when Amberser beckoned forth thousands of Miscellaneous Fish Type One, everyone’s expression changed.
They then remembered two keywords from what Amberser had just said, "Skeleton" and "Cheap."
For a Lich, meeting these two criteria meant the possibility of mass production.
In other words, this weapon, capable of killing a Sharkwa Fishman with a single strike, could indeed be produced by Amberser in quantities akin to arrows.
Ange Watson couldn’t help but ask, "Does this weapon not require any operation at all? Doesn’t it need someone specifically trained to launch it?"
Amberser nodded and said, "That’s correct, it’s fully automatic, and the nature of the Miscellaneous Fish Type One is Undead, guided by tracking the life force to lock onto targets, so they’re generally immune to light and most environmental influences. Just give them a rough command to point them in the right direction, and they will automatically pursue targets on their path.
"As for accuracy, it’s somewhat lacking, because priority is given to speed, which makes their turning ability a bit weak. The auto-tracking feature is barely better than nothing. But with enough numbers, the power is still quite impressive."
Amberser proudly introduced this weapon, only to notice the Allen Brothers’ grim expressions.
They had all come to the same conclusion, these Miscellaneous Fish Type One surely weren’t intended solely for underwater warfare, right?
Especially Allen, who had experienced Amberser’s Jetpack firsthand—a product clearly based on the same principle. Once Amberser started mass-producing these undead and unleashed them on land, the cities of Laine would be in danger.
How could he so casually refer to such a dangerous thing as "Miscellaneous Fish"?
Amberser didn’t expose the brothers’ line of thought, on the contrary, he wanted them to think this way. Combined with his glorious feat of repelling Laine’s seven Legendary figures, the Laine People should understand who was not to be trifled with.
"Alright, don’t just stand there; I have several different types of undead troops for you to try out. Who wants to test the real combat effects of these Miscellaneous Fish Type One first?"
At Amberser’s command, the three Tiflin eagerly raised their hands.
They were most fond of Amberser’s strength. Didn’t they see how terrible the faces of those from Laine looked? For the Tiflin, this was an extremely good turn of events.
Amberser, reveling in the excitement and not shying away from the stir, directly instructed the Allen Brothers to set up defenses and allowed the Tiflin to control the Miscellaneous Fish Type One for the attack.
Whether the brothers were taken aback and not fully focused or the Miscellaneous Fish Type One’s power was truly overwhelming, the outcome seemed one-sided.
The Murlocs and Roca Murlocs arranged for defense had no way of dealing with these finger-sized small weapons. Amberser craftily painted the outer layer of the Miscellaneous Fish Type One to blend in with the dark seawater, making them virtually impossible to distinguish with the naked eye when they were moving slowly.
Only when the Miscellaneous Fish Type One charged did everyone perceive the jet streams spurting out, but by then it was already too late.
Most of the defending Mermaid Warriors and Roca Murlocs realized they’d been hit too late. Such auto-targeting weapons were incredibly handy, requiring hardly any meticulous operation—just a rough command was sufficient to carry out the hunt.
Facing such an indefensible weapon, the Mermaid Clan’s defenses crumbled at the slightest touch. Occasionally, a Mermaid would use a wide-ranging magic attack capable of killing some of the Miscellaneous Fish. But it was of little consequence, as upon death, these Alien Skeletons would release a poison-laden Seawater Undead, and the Dark Magic Power wouldn’t dissipate quickly with the Undead’s demise, still turning the surrounding seawater into lethal poison.
Since both Mermaids and Roca Murlocs relied on seawater for breathing, they would inevitably be poisoned and inevitably be killed by this potent toxin.
Watching the people from Laine suffer a crushing defeat, the three Tiflin laughed mockingly, making the Allen Brothers look even worse.
But Amberser soon said, "Now, let’s switch offense and defense, and get ready quickly. Everyone should have a turn; this is only the first type of undead troop, so you better hurry up."
Under Amberser’s direction, the leaders of the Three Great Kingdoms perked up, their expressions turning even more solemn than before.
Because everyone realized something, the earlier Sea Tribe wars didn’t have much to do with them, as the sea beings’ combat strength was greatly reduced once ashore, and many aquatic races couldn’t stand firm on land.
But now, with Amberser bringing forth these undead troops, everyone knew the Lich could deploy these weapons on land at any time.
They had to seize the opportunity to learn as much as possible, or else when faced with these "Miscellaneous Fish Type One," they could only await death.
Everyone invigorated themselves and focused entirely on the attack-and-defense exercises.
Amberser was pleased with their attitude; this way, by the time real battle commenced, they would be seasoned commanders.
