Chapter 428: Chapter 400 The Hero and the Devil King

Although Aeo decreed that deities should not interfere with mortals, it was impossible to completely cut off the influence of deities on the mortal world, otherwise, all the deities who relied on faith would vanish.

Blessings, bestowing Divine Artifacts, or creating avatars within permitted limits to enter the mortal world were all allowed by Aeo.

This Aeolus is almost certainly a messenger sent by the deities.

"But why does he want to marry Airel?" Amberser pondered this question.

The power Aeolus demonstrated was the control of seawater, which didn’t seem like self-invented magic, but more like an innate ability.

That said, Aeolus’s power must stem from a deity of the Ocean Deity Faction.

If Aeolus truly is an envoy of an ocean deity, then his desire to marry Airel could very well be an attempt by the Ocean Deity Faction to seize more worshippers.

Although the population of the Fury Tide Kingdom is not as large as that of the underwater murlocs, their faith is divided among various deities, diluting the worship the Ocean Deities receive. Moreover, if they could expand their faith to the land, it would open up new horizons for the ocean deities, offering a broader prospect.

"So, Aeolus is following the orders of a deity to pursue Airel, trying to snatch the faith of the Fury Tide Kingdom. Quite bold, indeed."

Talos is not a deity that can be easily swayed; such an attempt to steal worshippers will inevitably provoke Talos’s wrath, leading to another divine war.

And Amberser would not allow anyone to meddle with the affairs of the Fury Tide Kingdom; it was his alchemy factory, and he would not permit any interference.

But to prevent Aeolus from pursuing Airel was going to be troublesome—on what grounds could he stand in the way of someone’s freedom to love?

After some thought, Amberser could only think of one solution—to give Talos a heads-up.

If Talos learned that the Ocean Deity Faction was up to something, a bolt of thunder might just strike the sea, and Amberser would no longer have to worry.

That settled it. He would write a letter to the Fury Tide Kingdom, revealing this fool’s intention to steal a bride, assuming that they would naturally find a way to contact Talos.

Having formulated the plan, Amberser quickly penned a letter, detailing his chance encounter with Aeolus and emphasizing the fool’s intention to forcefully take a bride, as well as his near-immortal abilities, in the hope that the Fury Tide Kingdom would be prepared.

After attending to this matter, Amberser started to discuss the details of dividing the Dragon Race with Gareth and others, a conversation that lasted two days.

Business was so busy that Amberser lacked a capable assistant to help him spot any omissions. Harvey had potential, but he had too little experience to serve as Amberser’s deputy yet.

Beyond Harvey, Isabel seemed to be the only one amongst Amberser’s subordinates who could be considered an intelligent talent.

"Sigh, is it really so hard to find a smart person to work for you these days? Well, after this, there should be clever people seeking to join me," he mused.

Once the Laine People were dealt with and the whole scene was broadcast live, the whole world would understand that he, the Lich, was the best patron to have. Be it heretics, devil servants, or simply disillusioned madmen, all manner of dark creatures would seek to join Amberser.

As it is widely known, those who turn to darkness are often ten times stronger than ordinary people, not just in terms of personal strength but also in terms of wisdom.

Because if you’re not smart enough and you’re in the Evil Camp, you die quickly.

Now, everything was in place; all that remained was for the Laine People to arrive.

But why hadn’t they arrived yet?

Two days into Amberser’s anxious wait, the Black Tide finally brought news that the Laine People’s warships were not far from his Gold Coin Island.

However, this time it wasn’t just the Laine People.

According to the report from the Black Tide, a monstrous creature hundreds of meters long followed behind the Laine People’s warships.

It was a tentacle of a deep-sea giant octopus, each of them larger than the Black Tide itself. This giant octopus kept stirring up waves, propelling the Laine warships forward.

Amberser was taken aback when he heard this news.

This was like something out of a hero’s tale, where the hero, tricked by the antagonist into the monster’s nest, ends up taming the beast, turning it into a force to battle the Devil King.

"Very well, you want to play it like that! I’m going to see if you brave souls have come to slay the Devil King or just to deliver loot!"

With a wave of his hand, the whole Gold Coin Island sprang into action. Tens of thousands of undead continued to act as magic power batteries in the Magic Array, and the massive magic power that had been accumulated over many days under Amberser’s coordination began to take shape.

Above Gold Coin Island, dense dark clouds appeared swiftly, spreading like a black curtain overhead, soon covering an area of more than ten kilometers in radius.

Under the cover of this dark sky, the sea turned murky and dim, the air filled with foul odors, and even the seawater began to pollute.

Such might had already reached the Laine People who had yet to enter the range of the dark sky.

Cyril Rolan stood at the bow of the ship, looking towards the vast darkness ahead, and he could not help but exclaim in shock, "By the Lord of the Dawn, what powerful evil is this!"

Amberser’s palm clenched the hilt of the Blood of Rosanda, and the powerful force of the Holy Light surged from the Divine Artifact, transforming into countless golden lights that completely enveloped the battleship.

Cyril Rolan was called the Glorious General because of his ability to turn Holy Light into shattered gold. These specks of light looked beautiful but contained powerful Holy Light.

When these golden lights landed on allies, they dispelled negative statuses and bestowed various enhancements. If creatures of evil touched these golden lights, they would be invaded by the Holy Light as if countless tiny blades were slicing their flesh.

With the Glorious Light shining, it instantly dissipated that terrifying pressure weighing on everyone’s hearts, and even the rotten smell in the air lessened a lot.

The dark clouds above roiled and condensed into a huge skeleton.

Just like the Grim Reaper that had appeared over Dragon Island before.

With a stature hundreds of meters high, draped in a cloak like smoke, every bone seemed to be a concentration of Dark Magic Power, as if the true Grim Reaper had descended to the mortal world.

Cyril Rolan stared at the huge skeleton in the sky, and just when he thought it was Amberser’s Magic Attack, he heard a majestic voice like distant thunder from the heavens.

"Paladins of Laine, state your purpose, for you’ve invaded my waters."

Cyril Rolan furrowed his brows, feeling that something was amiss.

What else was there to say when the Paladins of Laine were looking for a Lich? Of course, it was to crusade against the Undead, right?

Was that even a question?

Cyril Rolan squinted, searching the skies, and soon he found the black Airship. Even if it seemed only the size of a fingernail, obscured by the clouds, it could not escape Cyril Rolan’s eyes.

In these days, Cyril Rolan had seen this Airship more than once, knowing it must be related to that Lich, but the Airship flew too high. Even with a Divine Artifact in hand, Cyril Rolan could not affect the hundreds of meters above, only to let the enemy follow along.

Now, after the Lich had made an inquiry, the Airship seemed to have taken a special action — circling around the Laine People’s battleship. What was this? A precursor to the attack?

While Cyril Rolan was still contemplating, Hasting aboard the Black Tide was already overwhelmed. He shouted loudly, "Zoom in the lens a bit more, I want to see the expressions on those Laine people’s faces. Yes, just like that, shoot close-ups!"

The circling of the Black Tide wasn’t to launch an attack but to use the telephoto lenses installed on the Airship to capture every detail of Cyril Rolan — this was a live broadcast!

The Black Tide had only one mission: to record the entirety of this legendary battle, not missing any detail.

Every Undead component on the Airship worked in perfect tandem, determined to flawlessly execute the task Amberser had given them, to present these Laine People with style and dignity.

At first, Hasting didn’t understand the importance of this command. Clearly, it was meant to intimidate others, so why make the Laine People look like heroes?

Amberser replied with just one sentence, "Can I threaten the whole world by crushing an ant? What if I crush a hero?"

That’s when Hasting understood Amberser’s point, and immediately praised his master’s wisdom.

How else to show the Devil King’s strength without trampling great heroes underfoot? No wonder he’s the Lich who even deceived the Deities; just this was enough for Hasting to learn for hundreds of years.

Thus, Hasting was now trying everything to showcase Cyril Rolan’s bravery and fearlessness from every angle.

The Magic Mirror displayed a frontal image of Cyril Rolan, who looked immensely holy under the reflection of those fine golden lights, as if the Lord of the Dawn himself had descended.

But Hasting still did not think it was enough, turning to his companion he said, "Hales, some background music, please."

The mercury-like Hales stretched out several metal wires, beginning to play.

Although Hales was once a Ranger in life, after spending a long time in taverns, he had picked up a trick or two from Bards; he knew a few simple chords suitable for a hero’s entrance.

With the camera ready and the music set, it was now up to Cyril Rolan to perform.

Hasting prayed, "Brave one, don’t mess this up, or my master will be displeased."

Cyril Rolan, utterly unaware that he had become the protagonist in a film, did not disappoint his role as the assigned Legendary Paladin. He showed no fear in the face of Amberser’s divine pressure.

He roared, "Guided by the Holy Light, we dispel all evil from the world. Diga Ultraman, the time has come to pay for your sins!"

His words were righteous and majestic, and his enormous voice challenged the Demon Shadow in the sky, making it seem as though Amberser was some evil Devil King.

All of the Laine People felt their morale soar upon hearing this, with countless golden lights rising from the ship, almost turning it into a golden sphere.

Seven Legendary ones combined with the power of a whole legion, their strength was enough to tear apart the evil shadow in the sky.

But just as they were about to take action, the huge skeleton in the sky spoke, "Then, can you name the sins I have committed?"

Cyril Rolan opened his mouth to answer, but suddenly paused.

Wait, what evil had this Lich committed again?
