Chapter 425 - 397 Fool
Chapter 425: Chapter 397 Fool
Today’s idiocy concentration was a bit high, leaving Amberser somewhat at a loss for words.
An idiotic Orc came seeking revenge, followed by another idiotic human who blurted out his secrets. As a Diviner Mage, Amberser could guarantee that everything this man just said was true.
They had barely met, and already this person, who had previously fought with him, was spilling his secrets. Was he an exceptionally gullible lamb? If he had even a single Gold Coin on him, Amberser would scrape it off his bones.
Unfortunately, the naked man didn’t even have a piece of cloth on him, let alone any Gold Coins.
Amberser said irritably, "Sigh, making money is already tiring enough. If you’re not here to bother me, could you please stay far away?"
Just as he was discussing the Dragon Race’s territory issue with Gareth, this interruption meant starting all over again, truly a waste of time.
Just as Amberser was about to turn and leave, he was stopped by Aeolus, the naked man who asked, "Wait, you haven’t said what’s your relationship with this Orc."
Without turning his head, Amberser replied, "Enemies."
Aeolus grabbed Amberser’s arm, excitedly saying, "That’s great, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. We’re friends now. My name is Aeolus, and yours?"
Turning around with a puzzled look, Amberser said to Aeolus, "Friends? We just had a fight."
"Does that matter?" Aeolus asked, surprised. "Didn’t you misunderstand that I was causing you trouble, and that’s why you struck? Didn’t I also misunderstand and thus attacked? If this is a mistake, shouldn’t I punish myself first?"
"You’re quite reasonable," Amberser said, taken aback.
"Is this being reasonable?" Aeolus asked, confused. "Isn’t that a normal reaction? To reserve the fury of the Thunder for one’s enemies, my father... Father God Talos said the same."
Amberser: ...
Such a noble fool.
Hake Stone was just enjoying the show, but then these two suddenly became friends?
It’s outrageous, totally outrageous! He had all sorts of trouble collecting an Orc, so why does this Lich get a friend for doing nothing, and Aeolus even seems quite capable in a fight. A person who can fight but isn’t too bright, what a perfect friend!
Why do all the good things happen to this Lich? Why the heck is that?!
But Amberser didn’t have the time to waste on Aeolus, who was probably some strange sea Race. Anyway, he didn’t look human at all, and the current Amberser really didn’t want any more complications. What if this guy’s race was rich? How could Amberser resist taking a stab at getting some money?
The best way to overcome temptation is to cut off its source.
Thus, Amberser said, "Aeolus, it’s a pleasure to meet you. You can call me Diga Ultraman. However, I’m quite busy today, so I won’t be able to entertain you. If you need anything, let this Dwarf arrange it for you; he’ll take good care of you."
"Diga Ultraman, that name... seems quite interesting," Aeolus mused.
While Aeolus was still contemplating, Amberser had already flown away.
Aeolus looked helplessly at Hake Stone, and then fixed his gaze on this Dwarf Vampire with narrowed eyes.
"What exactly is your relationship with this Orc?" Aeolus asked.
Hake Stone kicked the Orc hard again, then said, "He’s no good; I have a score to settle with him as well."
But Aeolus said, "But I saw you laughing and talking on the beach, and he even bowed to you."
Hake Stone quickly responded, "He tricked me; I’m a victim too."
Excitedly, Aeolus said, "Really? I was tricked by him too; he even chopped off my head!"
With a chuckle, Hake Stone said, "Now’s your chance, you can punish him as you like."
Vampires have strong regenerative abilities, so a beating is no big deal. If he could coax this fool... no, make friends with this Aeolus, then it would be a great deal.
Looking at Kalgore Cruman, who seemed to have lost his soul, Aeolus said with disdain, "I won’t lay hands on a helpless waste. A warrior of Talos scorns inflicting torment on such trash."
Hake Stone was about to praise Aeolus’s noble principles when he heard him continue, "Just chop off his head. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I can give him a quick end."
Hake Stone blurted out in panic, "No, no, no, that won’t do."
Aeolus turned a questioning look at Hake Stone, demanding, "It won’t do? Are you helping him?!"
Countless droplets gathered around Aeolus, swiftly forming sharp ice spikes aimed at Hake Stone.
The Dwarf Vampire turned pale with fear, this guy was immortal, even more preposterous than a vampire, and he simply couldn’t beat him.
But now, he certainly couldn’t let Aeolus chop off the head of his Blood Servant. Although vampires might not die from decapitation, recovering would be difficult and certainly devastate his vitality.
He hadn’t even used this Blood Servant yet, and losing its vitality now meant a substantial loss.
In that moment, Hake Stone’s mind raced, convincing himself he definitely wasn’t the only one able to manipulate others in this world! Quickly smiling, Hake Stone said to Aeolus, "Look, your friend Diga Ultraman has a grudge against him, and so do I, but there’s only one Orc. If you chop off his head, what would I tell others about my revenge?"
Aeolus furrowed his brows, it did seem to make sense.
"So how will you seek revenge?" Aeolus asked.
"Oh, I can be cruel. Can’t let him just die like that. First, let’s go for a skin-and-flesh beatdown, torment him for a few years," Hake Stone said.
"Isn’t that too troublesome?" Aeolus remarked.
"It’s no trouble; I enjoy taking revenge like this," Hake Stone said in all earnestness.
Aeolus looked down on the dwarf vampire before him. Father God Talos was brutal but efficient at killing, with no interest in slowly torturing the opponent like this. It wasn’t a matter of cruelty; to Aeolus, this slow and prolonged torture seemed boring and cowardly.
But let it be, he had just arrived here and wasn’t familiar with the territory. Finding Airel was more important. The form of revenge was inconsequential; better to let the dwarf do the job.
"Then you go ahead; I’m off to find my friend," Aeolus said.
After speaking, Aeolus turned and followed the direction Amberser had left. He still wanted to inquire about Airel’s whereabouts. This dwarf didn’t look like good news, but that skeleton seemed nice and straightforward, a more likely candidate for friendship.
As he gave chase, Aeolus stumbled into the illusion magic formation of the island, devised to conceal tens of thousands of specters—a magic array that could even deceive a deity.
Aeolus didn’t even realize he had fallen into an illusion; he simply found the island increasingly complicated and lost sight of Amberser in the blink of an eye.
It wasn’t clear how many circles he did before Aeolus ran into Amberser once again.
"There you are, I’ve been looking for you for ages!" Aeolus said excitedly.
Amberser wordlessly tossed him a set of clothes, telling Aeolus to put them on.
The strange man had been circling the island for two days. Didn’t he notice? Just a look back and he would have found the way to leave, yet he never turned around once.
Aeolus somewhat awkwardly put on the clothes and pants, only to end up wearing the clothes inside out.
This fool; did he never wear clothes before?
Amberser was beginning to feel embarrassed about fooling the fool. Normally, he lied either to protect himself or to gain some advantage, but deceiving such a worthless idiot was just purely immoral.
"What exactly do you want from me?" Amberser asked in bewilderment.
Aeolus fiddled with his clothes, then said to Amberser, "I would like to ask a favor of you."
"Go on, let’s hear it," Amberser said.
"I’m looking for someone. Her name is Airel; she’s my wife," Aeolus said.
"Just the name isn’t enough; there are too many with the same name. What does she look like?"
What use was just a name? Amberser had known more Airels in his life than he could count on both hands.
"Very beautiful!" Aeolus said.
Amberser: ...
That’s why he preferred to deceive the clever rather than the fools. With clever people, you set traps logically, but with fools, you never know when they might say something nonsensical.
"If you don’t know what she looks like, where did you lose her?" Amberser asked again.
"We didn’t get separated. I haven’t met her yet," Aeolus said.
"Was an engagement fixed? Were you jilted?"
That must have been discrimination; no normal person would marry off their daughter to a fool.
"An engagement... My father arranged for me to marry her," Aeolus said.
"No engagement?" Amberser asked, puzzled. "Are you planning to abduct her?"
Aeolus stroked his chin and said, "If she is unwilling, that might not be out of the question."
Amberser retracted his earlier evaluation; this idiot wasn’t morally upright but downright abnormal.
Forget it; no more fooling around with the idiot. Amberser said to Aeolus, "First of all, kidnapping is wrong. It only brings endless trouble and hatred. Your father hasn’t thought this through."
No sooner had Amberser finished speaking than a thunderous boom resounded in the sky, and fierce lightning shattered the heavens into fragments.
Amberser glanced at the sky, then said to Aeolus again, "Alright, go home. If I find Airel, I’ll tell her that you’re looking for her."
He was thinking of warning the poor girl to hide well and avoid being found by this fool.
Upon hearing this, Aeolus gratefully said, "Thank you, my good friend. I owe you a favor!"
"No, no, don’t put it that way; I already feel bad about it," Amberser said.
"Diga Ultraman, you are a modest and good person. I will remember you," Aeolus said.
Amberser waved his hand, not wanting to speak with the idiot anymore.
Aeolus gripped Amberser’s hand tightly and handed him something resembling a sea conch, then said, "My good friend, I just made this. If you’re in trouble, blow it and I’ll come to help. Of course, if you find Airel, you can use this to tell me as well."
"Uh..."
Amberser awkwardly held the sea conch, then watched as Aeolus quickly plunged into the sea and dived headfirst into the water.
"Never mind." Amberser resigned
