Chapter 421: Chapter 393: Resolution of the Dragon Race Issue
On the other side of the ocean, Airel was wisely trailing the fleet of the Fury Tide Kingdom at a distance behind the Laine ship.
The Fury Tide Kingdom and Laine were mortal enemies, it was impossible for them to watch with indifference as their foe sailed boldly across the sea.
Therefore, Airel personally led the team, capturing several pirate ships to use as cannon fodder.
After signing the contract with the Silent Night Pirate Group, the overlord of the sea no longer hunted the Fury Tide Kingdom’s fleet, but Aige couldn’t be bothered to differentiate between official and civilian ships, as long as they were human, not attacking them would suffice.
This resulted in some humans risking their lives to become pirates, and some were citizens of the Fury Tide Kingdom who went to sea on their own, specifically targeting merchant ships from the continent.
Airel usually ignored these pirates because they did not dare to plunder Fury Tide’s own territory, but it didn’t matter if they robbed foreigners.
But today, to deal with the Laine people, Airel gathered these pirates together, forcing them to harass the Laine warships.
The effect was very good, although the Laine people had the power of Legendary at their back, their naval combat experience was nearly zero, and the pirates came and went like the wind, firing a shot then fleeing, keeping the Laine People in a constant state of tension.
The Laine people did not want to sit still, trying to attempt a surprise attack, and actually managed to capture two pirate ships with slower speeds.
But that was already their limit, when Cyril Rolan, the Glorious General, wanted to pursue the victory, he was struck by lightning.
The clear sky didn’t know when it had filled with thick clouds, and thunder brewed within them, striking down just as Cyril Rolan attempted to repeat his trick.
The damage wasn’t severe, but it successfully paralyzed Cyril Rolan temporarily, making him plunge into the sea.
By the time Cyril Rolan returned to his warship, he had ordered his men to ignore those pirate ships and break free from the encirclement directly.
This decision was undoubtedly the right one because shortly after he returned to the ship, a strong wind whipped up towering waves that crashed toward the Laine warships.
Having been at sea for so many days, the Laine people saw a tsunami for the first time; the waves towered much higher than the ship’s masts, like a mountain of sea water that smashed over them.
The Laine people had no choice but to raise a shield, and as the giant wave hit, the warship shook tremendously, but did not sink, instead pushing the Laine ship a great distance away.
Cyril Rolan, like one grasping at a life-saving straw, immediately ordered to proceed at full speed.
It must be said that the Laine people learned from the experience, knowing that their ships were not quite suitable for sailing on the sea, so these past few days they figured out a new trick: use the Featherfall Spell to make the entire ship as light as a feather, then let the strong wind blow it forward like "floating."
This speed was much faster than sailing on the sea, the only problem was the higher consumption of magic power.
The Featherfall Spell could make an object as light as a feather, but could not do the same for a person or ship easily; to maintain this effect, the Laine Army’s spellcasters had to go all out, unable to distract themselves with other spells.
This escape tactic was extremely effective, and they quickly moved away from the captured pirate ships.
And just as the Laine ship disappeared into the horizon, Airel revealed a smile.
"These greenhorns really flee without choosing their path, so easily we pursued them straight into the Thunderous Sea Area."
Airel’s final goal was only to make the Laine people enter the Thunderous Sea Area and struggle by themselves. They hadn’t expected that it wouldn’t take much effort to accomplish this task.
On the sea, the Fury Tide Kingdom was indeed capable of toying with these Laine people easily.
It was just a pity that the Fury Tide Kingdom’s power still wasn’t enough. If they had even one more Legendary capable of coordinating with them, Airel would have dared to charge at the Laine people.
Regrettably, besides the old King, no one could provide naval support like Airel.
Airel gave the order, "Pursue them, don’t let our guests slack off. Keep them feeling someone is chasing behind them, giving them no time to think!"
The warships of the Fury Tide Kingdom slowly moved forward, following the Laine people all the way.
If this kept up, in another day or so, the Laine people would enter the terrifying Thunderous Sea Area and face those truly formidable deep sea creatures.
While the surface was brewing with wind and clouds, deep beneath the sea was also restless.
Amberser visited Aige’s body once again, meeting with friends from the Elegy Poetry Society.
Gareth, Aige, Miss Bone Dragon, Withered Rose... and the long-unseen Love Vampire, Hake Stone.
Amberser looked at the dwarf in confusion and asked, "Didn’t you say you were in seclusion writing a book? How did you end up here at sea?"
Hake Stone said angrily, "Didn’t you tell me to come here? I received a message saying that you were going to compensate me for the manuscript fees before I came."
Amberser paused, he certainly hadn’t said that.
Damn, it was the power of Destiny Weaving.
Amberser threw the dice, notifying all his enemies that he would appear on this island and wait for a month.
The message would be transmitted in various unreliable ways to everyone who held a grudge against Amberser. Apart from the time and place being correct, Amberser couldn’t be sure of the rest of the content.
Clearly, Hake Stone held a grudge against Amberser, and he was attracted here by a twisted "message."
The Dwarf Vampire still resented Amberser for taking his research results to show off and conning him out of a large sum of money, so he came over without verifying the message.
Amberser said helplessly, "You’ve known me for quite some time now, do you think I would give you money?"
Hake Stone frowned as he considered, and it seemed to make sense.
Even if the world perished, this Lich wouldn’t voluntarily pay up; he himself had doubted the authenticity of these messages. But the location was so precisely described that he was tempted to test it for himself.
"Hmph, I knew it wouldn’t be that simple, but never mind. I’ve finished my book and I don’t lack for money. Let’s just consider this a vacation."
Having said that, Hake Stone proudly took out copies of his first-edition work and distributed one to each member of the Elegy Poetry Society.
Hake Stone boasted, "I’ve rewritten the ’Demon Dragon War Chronicle’. Once this is published, I will be the foremost among historians, without a peer."
No sooner had he finished his boast than he saw Amberser adding his own name to the author’s on the cover.
"What are you doing?!" Hake Stone exclaimed angrily.
"Just making space for a second author. I’d like to leave my name in history too," said Amberser.
Hake Stone roared, "Get lost! I’m going to fight you!"
A cluster of bat wings unfolded behind him as he poised to pounce on Amberser.
But just as he took flight, Amberser produced two bottles and shoved them into Hake Stone’s hands.
Hake Stone, confused, took them and was instantly stunned. They contained blood, the likes of which he had never seen.
The color was off, the magic power contained within was wrong; it was undoubtedly blood he had never seen before.
Opening the bottles and taking a whiff, Hake Stone exclaimed in shock, "Dragon blood!"
Amberser chuckled and said, "That’s right, one bottle of Astral Red Dragon’s blood, the other’s Gith Yankee’s blood. I specifically sought out the ugliest Gith Yankee female—might even be virgin’s blood. This gift is generous enough, don’t you think, my friend?"
Hake Stone hastily took a small sip, then reveled in the taste.
Whether it was Dragon blood or Gith Yankee blood, both were unique flavors that Hake Stone had never tasted before. Indeed, the gift struck right at the heart of the Vampire.
Hake Stone dismissively secured the bottles and said, "Humph, they’re just so-so, can’t hold a candle to the Elf blood I’ve had."
"Playing coy now that you’ve got a bargain, huh? Do you believe I’d tell Katherine?" Amberser threatened.
Hake Stone quickly shut his mouth; this Lich was now a distinguished guest of the Elf Tribe, and he certainly did not dare let Amberser speak carelessly.
Amberser produced even more bottles of blood and said to Hake Stone, "So, about that second author’s credit, can we add it?"
Looking at the precious blood, Hake Stone reluctantly agreed, "Third author, and you can have your name."
"What do you mean? Besides me and you, how is anyone else related to this book?" Amberser angrily retorted, knowing that without his information, this Dwarf would have never written a damn thing.
"Second author I reserve for myself, don’t think I don’t know, ’King of Alden’ is one of your pseudonyms, right? Along with Arthas, Sephiroth, Sagras... I can’t even count them all. I aim to boost the reputation of my own pseudonyms. Is that not allowed? Third author is yours, take it or leave it," Hake Stone retorted.
The entire Elegy Poetry Society turned their gazes towards Amberser upon hearing Hake Stone’s words. It wasn’t surprising to use a pseudonym, but they felt they had somewhat heard these names before—the Lich must have done plenty of outrageous things using these aliases to make them sound so familiar.
Amberser angrily threw the blood bottles; this Dwarf Vampire knew exactly where to strike to hurt his soul the most. Had he not used so many aliases, he could have been the God of Alchemy by now.
"Where did you learn about these aliases?" Amberser demanded.
With a smile, Hake Stone stowed away the precious blood bottles, then explained, "After Impure Chant was exiled, the whole world has been looking for Diviner Mages. You and your students remain unaffected, but it’s a different story for the other Diviners. Conveniently, a Diviner approached me with a message, wanting to meet you."
"Another Diviner?" Amberser said in surprise, "Really? How did they even find you?"
Hake Stone explained, "Of course, it’s because Diviner Mages themselves cannot foresee, so naturally, they had to seek out someone like me who has a connection to you."
The explanation was reasonable enough. Hake Stone’s visit was not just about royalty. He was carrying a message, but also wanted to show off his book to friends and enjoy a sea voyage.
While the Diviner Mage was important, Amberser had no time for that matter now. He casually set a date with Hake Stone and turned to address Gareth.
"Brother, how’s it going with the Dragon Race matters? You saved your father-in-law, didn’t you?" Amberser asked, rubbing his hands eagerly.
Gareth grinned and said, "Not bad, he endured some hardships, but it’s not serious. As for those living dragons, I call the shots; whatever you say goes."
Amberser shot a surprised look at Pale Bone. When did this henpecked son-in-law start talking so boldly?
Expecting Pale Bone to retort, he was caught off-guard when Miss Bone Dragon nodded and said, "Indeed, don’t worry about those losers anymore. If any defy us, I’ll deal with them personally."
Her words carried a deep chill. Amberser asked, "Did they join outsiders in ambushing your father?"
Pale Bone shook her head, "No, they didn’t. But they also didn’t warn my father. Doing nothing is a betrayal in itself. We are Bone Dragons; we shouldn’t have treated these living dragons like our kin to begin with."
Amberser nodded in agreement, the Undead are the Undead; mingling with the living serves no purpose.
With the Dragon Race issue resolved for the sea voyage, he could focus on the performance and then help Aige gather faith afterwards.
Now, Amberser had laid his traps for the Laine People and was just waiting for them to blunder into them.
