Chapter 387: Chapter 360 The Most Transparent Laine People
Big Black was initially dealing with those target-like airships while wearing Assault armor.
But then he spotted Kaid Worson, who looked like a big shot. As the saying goes, ’capture the king to capture the thieves,’ Big Black shot at him, then captured him.
Kaid Worson didn’t struggle after hearing the name Diga Ultraman and let himself be brought aboard the Black Tide.
Upon entering the cabin, Kaid Worson felt a dark aura wash over him. A male and a female Undead stood before him.
The male must be Master Diga Ultraman, right? As for the girl eyeing him like prey, Kaid had no idea who she was, but she was undoubtedly a powerful Undead who seemed capable of squashing him with a single finger.
Indeed, not struggling was the right choice; he did not want to ascend to heaven at such a young age.
Amberser observed the man intently; the chain mail and the hammer’s design clearly indicated he was a Light Priest, but his appearance gave Amberser a sense of familiarity.
"Sir, you bear a resemblance to a friend of mine, do you happen to know Allen Watson?"
Kaid Worson replied with a wry smile, "Allen is my younger brother. I am Kaid Worson; it’s an honor to meet you, Master Ultraman."
Amberser said, somewhat surprised, "You should know that my special pardon has been revoked."
Can Laine People be so polite to an Undead? Amberser’s never seen this in his life.
Whether it’s Allen or his father, James, both have always regarded Amberser with customary hostility.
But Kaid Worson didn’t harbor any, at least not that Amberser could feel.
Kaid Worson said, "Forget about the special pardon; I’m almost a wanted criminal in Laine myself."
"Is it because of Allen?"
"Why mention burden within a family? Isn’t it because of Allen that I now have the opportunity to have a pleasant chat with you?"
Amberser inwardly noted how transparently this man lived his life.
Amberser never expected the obstinate James Watson to have raised such a child. Was he adopted?
"While I’m uncertain why you have brought me here, Master, if you are looking for a hostage..." Kaid Worson said helplessly, "I’m afraid you’ve mistaken the person."
Kaid Worson briefly explained his current predicament.
Amberser also felt a tinge of sympathy upon hearing it.
James Watson, who had served for many years as the Supreme Decree, was well known for his achievements. Now that he’s gone, it’s a cold world—even his own son is under surveillance.
Laine has truly declined.
"I wasn’t looking to take hostages. I originally just wanted to advertise. As you know, there are dozens of Red Dragons that have appeared, not bound by the old contracts. Laine hasn’t dealt with a horde of dragons for over a thousand years; they’re definitely in for a beating. So, I was thinking of selling some weapons and equipment to Laine.
"Like individual jetpacks, airborne warships... it seems now..."
How could Kaid Worson help with sales when he could barely save himself?
Yet the moment Kaid Worson heard this, he became excited and asked, "Are you talking about those Magipuppet Automatons that brought me here?"
Kaid had just witnessed Big Black’s combat power firsthand; not only was it fast in flight, but also incredibly agile, and its weaponry was powerful.
If they could buy these in bulk, Giant Dragons wouldn’t be much of a problem.
Amberser shook his head and said, "Hasting is an Undead; he would evaporate upon entering Laine’s cities under Holy Light. I can only sell you some of the equipment."
Amberser handed a jetpack to Kaid Watson, and directly let him try it out, not fearing that he might run off with it.
Kaid Watson wasn’t foolish; his life was clearly not in danger at the moment, and it would be suicidal to attempt an escape. Not to mention whether he could get away, this would be a deliberate attempt at death, turning himself from a guest into a prisoner.
After testing the jetpack, Kaid Watson’s blonde hair was blown into a mess like a bird’s nest, but he did indeed understand the importance of this device.
It was essential military equipment for the air force, only with the real thing could one qualify to battle with giant dragons.
Kaid Watson, unconcerned with his disheveled appearance, quickly asked, "Master, how many of these jetpacks do you have? What’s the price?"
Amberser replied, "Outfitting an armada of a thousand isn’t a problem, the unit price is ten thousand gold coins each, and for every ten bought, one is free. However, are you in a position to decide?"
Kaid Watson nodded, "Although my status is awkward now, I know who among the Laine people can negotiate with you. Master, you may not know, but currently, the hearts of the Laine people are unsettled, various factions are looking for ways to protect themselves, your product will have a market."
"Laine is already in such chaos?"
Kaid Watson said, "On the surface, it’s barely maintaining, but it’s like a tinderbox that could explode with a single spark."
The blame lies with the young emperor, whose performance on the battlefield was simply too abysmal, abysmal to the extent that the Laine people could not tolerate it.
In other kingdoms, a monarch wetting his pants on his first battlefield might be accepted, but not in Laine.
From childhood, they are subject to an extremely fanatical education: The creed that they fight to the last person. And as an emperor, to run away out of fear and even to run over a swath of Laine soldiers in the process of fleeing?
Let alone that this was a war initiated by the emperor himself, and he insisted on leading it personally.
How could that be tolerated?
This was a devastating blow to the morale of Laine.
The voices criticizing the emperor were too overwhelming, and they were becoming hard to suppress.
That’s why, when the Githyanki left, Laine didn’t even fart in response – internal instability prevents external conflicts.
If it weren’t for the threat of the Githyanki, Laine would have already started to fight among themselves.
Amberser chuckled, "The Royal Family of Ryan has always been brainwashing others, now it has backfired. Being the emperor of Laine demands much higher standards than in other kingdoms. Interesting, I really want to see that young emperor’s face."
However, Amberser did not immediately agree to Kaid Watson’s request, but posed a final question, "Kaid, you seem to have a lot of trust in me, considering this our first meeting, and I am a Lich. Tell me your reasons."
Kaid Watson smiled, "Master, you are too modest, is there a person alive who is kinder and more benevolent than you? How many wars have you dissolved? The lives you’ve saved make my father feel ashamed.
"Furthermore, as a Light Priest, I have a much simpler way to discern right from wrong."
Kaid Watson raised his right hand, with the power of Holy Light concentrating in his fist.
"Look, the Lord of the Dawn has not revoked my power; this proves that my choice is the right one."
Amberser’s appreciation for Kaid Watson grew; this was the wisest of the Laine people he had ever seen.
"Very well, since that’s the case, I am willing to work with you. I can send you a few samples first."
Amberser handed a spatial pouch to Kaid Watson, which contained a few jetpacks and introductions to combat airships, as well as a magic mirror capable of long-distance communication.
Amberser said, "You can contact me at any time if there’s news."
Kaid Watson hastily tucked the small pouch away, then said to Amberser, "One last request, Master Ultraman, could you use dark magic power to corrupt my body? I can’t possibly escape unscathed from your airship."
