Chapter 374: Chapter 347 Contract Completion

This was a brutal battle, and the Laine People had never imagined that one day they would face the great army of the Dragon Race.

The sight of dozens of Giant Dragons circling in the sky was overwhelmingly terrifying.

What the Laine People had even less anticipated was that Allen, a traitor who had just been hunted by their Emperor, would suddenly jump out to lend a hand.

The Laine People on the ground watched as Allen flickered in and out of existence, scaring the Red Dragons into a chaotic flight, and they couldn’t help but think of their own Emperor.

Just as he was facing the Red Dragons, the Young Emperor, clad in Magic Dragon Armament, couldn’t even struggle before he fell to the ground in panic, crushing a large number of his own people to death. In contrast, Allen alone darted through the sky, killing Red Dragons so fiercely that they fled in madness.

Although such a thought was outright treasonous, the contrast was simply too stark.

In fact, Allen was able to do so entirely because his Legendary Grace was too restraining for the Red Dragons.

Allen’s Legendary Grace was a teleportation attack; as long as he locked onto a target, he would instantly teleport in front of it, ensuring his sword would hit.

But a hit was just a hit; lethality depended entirely on Allen’s own skill.

The Magic-breaking Longsword in Allen’s hand was a weapon specifically designed against magical effects and didn’t work well against the tough Dragon Scales of the Red Dragons. It was like stabbing steel with a needle—sure to hit, but at most leaving a mark, hardly an effective wound.

But eyes were different. No matter how strong a dragon’s body was, its eyes were fragile.

And Allen’s teleportation attack was too swift; those Red Dragons had no time to dodge and could only have their eyeballs pierced by his longsword.

This was the power of ability restraint, like how Amberser could easily suppress the Legendary Druid by simply kite flying.

The Red Dragons dared not let Allen get close and started to flee in all directions. Allen was about to disperse these Red Dragons in one fell swoop when suddenly three Triple Fireballs flew towards him.

Allen had no choice but to teleport to another Red Dragon. This time he couldn’t lock onto the eyes and landed on the tail instead, getting slapped by the Red Dragon.

Allen tumbled through the air, managing to restore balance with his flying backpack only to face an incoming lightning bolt.

This time, Allen couldn’t dodge and fell from the sky, paralyzed.

Just as he was about to crash into the ground, dozens of Divine Arts landed on him.

Featherfall Spell, Blessing Spell, True Healing Word, Chain of Guardianship... these Spells effects turned Allen into a glowing sphere.

These Divine Arts dispersed the paralysis affecting Allen, allowing him to readjust his posture.

But a Red Dragon in the sky dived down at Allen, ridden by none other than that legendary Githyanki.

This was a powerful Legendary Mage, responsible for the Acid Rain Spell that blanketed the sky; those Triple Fireballs and Lightning had been his handiwork as well.

And now, he shot a yellow-green acid arrow at Allen.

This time Allen was ready, teleporting directly onto the head of the Red Dragon ridden by the Githyanki, aiming to puncture the Red Dragon’s eyes.

But this Red Dragon seemed a bit different and closed its eyes in time as Allen’s longsword descended.

The eyelids of the Giant Dragon, although not as durable as Dragon Scales, were as thick as three layers of Leather Armor. Just as Allen’s longsword pierced the eyelid, the Giant Dragon swung its head, flinging Allen away, while conveniently spitting Dragon Breath at him.

The strength of the Giant Dragon was too much for Allen to withstand. He was pushed into a spin by the sheer force, unable to teleport again, and hit hard by the Dragon Breath.

However, Allen felt only a burning sensation and took little damage, while several Light Priests screamed on the ground, their bodies charred.

This was the effect of Chain of Guardianship. It not only significantly enhanced resistance, but part of the damage received was also transferred to the Priests who cast Chain of Guardianship. With the damage split, Allen safely withstood the Dragon Breath.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Allen teleported again, this time targeting the Githyanki Mage.

In the blink of an eye, Allen appeared, thrusting his longsword into the chest of the Githyanki.

The Mage Shield automatically activated, an essential spell for all Spellcasters, highly effective for life-preservation.

A Legendary Mage’s Mage Shield could withstand a direct hit from one or two Magic Conduction Cannons. Sadly, this time it met its nemesis.

The Magic-breaking Longsword punctured the Mage Shield as easily as popping a soap bubble. And not only that, the various magical devices on the Githyanki flickered wildly, but none could block the edge of the longsword.

The longsword pierced through the thin robe and deeply into the Githyanki’s chest.

The Githyanki’s face still bore an incredulous expression, unable to comprehend why none of his defensive spells worked in the slightest.

When the master received a fatal attack, the mount Red Dragon turned its head and bit at Allen.

Allen had no choice but to teleport away again, evading the Red Dragon’s bite.

Withdrawing the longsword, blood of a dark red hue spurted from the wound of the Githyanki. Clutching his injury, he began to pour healing potions into himself.

Although the wound was healing rapidly, the internal injuries were not so easily recovered. The sword strike hadn’t reached his heart, but it had damaged his spine; now he couldn’t move half of his body.

With no other choice, the Githyanki could only ride the red dragons towards the space portal and quickly returned to the Star Realm.

As the legendary warrior left, the acid rain in the sky quickly dissipated, and many Red Dragons followed him back to the Star Realm.

Even the Githyanki on the ground noticed this and their morale was slightly affected.

Just as the Laine People thought they could counterattack, they discovered that even more Red Dragons and Githyanki were pouring out of the space portal.

How many enemies were there? Was the war necessarily a loss?

They were only supposed to deal with the Tiflin from the Kingdom of Impure Hymns, so how did they suddenly get besieged by giant dragons?

As the Laine People were somewhat bewildered, Allen’s voice once again came from the sky, "Retreat quickly, back to Flow Flame City!"

Like waking from a dream, everyone started to regroup and retreated towards Flow Flame City.

The Laine Army’s combat strength was not inferior to the Githyanki’s; they were just dumbfounded by the sudden appearance of the Red Dragons, an unprecedented opponent that launched a large-scale aerial assault that caught them off guard.

Now in the sky, Allen was becoming more adept. He burst the eyeballs of one after another Red Dragon, forcing these horrific beasts to fly higher.

With Allen restraining most of the Red Dragons, the Laine Army on the ground was finally able to focus on the Githyanki.

Allen became the cornerstone for the Laine People, bringing everyone back from their panic.

And with their composure regained, the Laine Army finally demonstrated their true combat strength. The Paladin Legion was divided into several squads; with a cavalry charge, they scattered the already dispersed Githyanki.

The Light Priest’s magic began to take effect, hurling spells like Fireball Technique, Flame Strike, and Sunbeam at the Githyanki.

After all, they were humanoid enemies, so they just needed to do what they trained for.

The Githyanki suddenly found that the humans, who had seemed weak and fragile, had become much stronger, causing them heavy losses.

The Laine People began to retreat in an orderly fashion. As long as they could get close to the city, the Defense Magic Array inside could be activated, and all the Red Dragons in the sky could be brought down.

At that moment, Amberser and Mr. Misfortune were both looking out at the battlefield from afar.

And beside them, were the phantom images of Goddess Tiamat and Zariel.

Amberser asked, "The portal to the Star Realm has stabilized. Our contract should be fulfilled, right?"

Goddess Tiamat produced a contract, the very one they had signed, and under fiery flames, the contract turned to ash.

Amberser and Mr. Misfortune both subtly sensed that the power that had been restraining them was now gone.

Though the contract was fulfilled, Goddess Tiamat did not leave but mockingly said to Amberser, "I can guess what you plan to do. Now that Laine is being pushed back, you are planning to destroy the Star Realm portal and stop the Githyanki invasion, right? By doing that, you save the Kingdom of Impure Hymns without becoming sinners of the world."

Without surprise, Amberser responded, "You guessed correctly. So, do you plan to stop us? That Star Realm portal relies on the sacrifices of mortals to operate, and you can’t take action yourself, correct?"

The Deity’s restrictions were extensive. Goddess Tiamat couldn’t open the portal to the Star Realm herself, relying only on deceived Heretics to sacrifice themselves. The souls and flesh of ten thousand provided the energy for the portal, and Amberser and Mr. Misfortune used the Power of Destiny to calibrate the coordinates at the formation of the Magic Array.

Opening the portal to the Star Realm wasn’t difficult, but the realm was vast, and to precisely target the area Goddess Tiamat desired, the power of a Diviner Mage was necessary.

Throughout the process, Goddess Tiamat didn’t lift a finger, at most sacrificing these bewitched Heretics.

And now, if Amberser and Mr. Misfortune wished to destroy the Star Realm portal, Goddess Tiamat could not stop them as the contract was already complete.

Goddess Tiamat, smiling, said, "Of course, I won’t lay a hand on you. I’m not impulsive like Rose. However, I will order these Githyanki to attack the Kingdom of Impure Hymns immediately. Let me estimate, about seventy to eighty thousand Githyanki have come through, plus the Red Dragons, it will be very easy to bring down this shaky kingdom. Then, I will drag every soul of this kingdom into Hell."

The Evil Dragon Goddess looked at Amberser with pride and asked again, "So, what do you plan to do? Just the two of you, can you hold back these Githyanki?"

Amberser remained calm and told Goddess Tiamat, "The two of us certainly can’t hold back this terrible army. With both giant dragons and legendary warriors, even together we couldn’t win."

Goddess Tiamat’s confident smile vanished as she stared at Amberser and asked, "So, what exactly is your plan?"

With a sigh, Amberser said, "What can we, mere mortals, do? Even if we stop them now, what about next time? The Hell Lords are always coveting this land and the people on it. If we can’t beat them, then we have to run."

As Amberser finished speaking, Mr. Misfortune had already flown to a higher level in the sky.

Countless threads burst from his hands, like plucking the strings of a harp, his fingertips brushing over them.

The sky split open, revealing a bizarre space of Chaos.

Amberser said to Goddess Tiamat, "Goddess, we’re planning to run away with the Kingdom of Impure Hymns, to a place you can’t find."
